Clearview measures from the base of the filler cap (top of the gas tank) i think. Stock height from there (according to them) is 22 inches (measured their way). My Clearview is 21 inches. (1.5 inches lower than stock) ... and it's 17 inches from top edge of chrome strip to top edge of w/s Keep in mind that you can always cut them down to the size you want. I've done this with my stock w/s and it was pretty easy.
2. There's even rumouir that April/May might end up being the worst Apr/May on record.
3. It's not uncommon to get snow in that area this time of year ... in fact, it can happen anytime...even in middle of summer.
4. Sounds like a great time ... one day we will be there too if for nothing else but to socialize!
5. Saturday it poured all day so I busied myself doing housework (racking up brownie points). Sunday I was able to get out for a bit of a ride in the afternoon but mostly hung around the house. Monday, Tiffany & I rode out to East Gate (Manning Park) to meet up with Nina and Cassidy on their return route for lunch (about 3 hr ride). The weather was cool and cloudy but at least not raining. We passed 5 radar traps between Hope and East Gate, all catching drivers returning to the lower mainland. Apparently there were as many on Saturday heading inland and Nina was one of their "customers" LOL. Had lunch and just as we were ready to leave.... RAIN!! It was pouring ... but we were able to ride out of it before long and the rest of the trip back home was really good. The girls switched for the return trip so this was the first "REAL" ride either of them have had on the scoot.
6. nahhhhhhhh.... nobody would be interested in that! :stickpoke: YESSSSSSSS .... let's hear all about it ... and pics too!
7. I dunno how some of the other guys on here will respond to this but I've rebuilt numerous carbs over the years and when those things won't "budge", I'll give the end of the screwdriver a whack with a hammer (not too hard). Make sure that you're using the correct sized screwdriver.

9. I looked for those on their website... can't find anything of the sort. Do you have a web link for them or maybe they're "in-store" items only??
10. Yes, the feedback from the members here is very good; however, something such as this (what does it sound like when you're riding) ... is all a matter of that person't opinion and ability to articulate it.
11. I used a "razor blade" scraper but I wouldn't recommend that unless you've had lots of experience using one. I have and I still managed to nick the paint.
12. ...and more specifically, ended by personal choice!
13. One of the problems I find with the various muffler sound clips is that they are either from the back of the bike while it's sitting and being revved or from a stationary point while the bike it riding away from or past the recording device. None of that tells a guy what it sounds like when you're riding it. It would be nice to have that "perspective" before buying something.
14. Glad you made it thru that safely. There's no substitute for practical experience. Had similar happen to me last year. In fact, we were at a point where there was an on-ramp on the right (we were in the left lane with a similar barrier) and this "person" coming in from the ramp decided that they wanted all the way over to the left lane. Didn't even look to see if anyone was in it ... just kept coming over. I blasted my Stebel several time but when I could see they were (or must have been) deaf, I backed off. By this time tho, I am into the space between the lane marker line and the concrete barrier and they are almost fully into MY lane and MY space. At this point my front wheel was about even with the divider between the front and rear doors. For me at least, it was situation of being able to "see" what was going to happen before it happened and knowing I had an escape if the "person" didn't hear/see me and kept coming. In this case, I had "thinking" time. Ya gotta watch those other drivers all the time. Experience will teach you how to "read" them.
15. Kerry, have you tried the RK's?
16. 99.9% of the time, there will be onion in Chilli and I am allergic to onion. I have just a little bit of the stuff and in an hour or so I'll be in terrible gut pain. However, I eat Gasex sometimes to prevent it or reduce it so, I may just have to chow down on a few of those and take my chances ... on the other hand, the combination of the ingredients of Chilli just don't like me much for quite some time afterwards. I hate not being able to eat Chilli ... hate it, hate it, hate it !!!
17. Unfortunately, as much as I love the stuff, I can't eat such delicious fare ... so, guess I'll just have to stand there and drool (but I promise I won't drool INTO the pot )
18. I have drilled out RK's and really like them although when pulling a trailer, it gets a bit annoying over a long haul. I tried a set of used Khromewerks ... they were labelled "Comptition use...." ... and they were too loud. I never calculate my mileage so no idea if there's a difference between stock and other but it did seem to me that the bike is a bit more powerful with the stock pipes.
19. I don't disagree with that and I have done a fair amount of that to mine but.... why, for example, should a guy have to pull the rear wheel and lube the DRY hub pins within 1000 miles of new?? That is one example and there definately is something wrong with that picture.
20. Now there's a good example ... risers on a Wing to adjust for a better riding position... the 1st gen Ventures had adjustable handlebars. I believe some BMW's do to...?? Why not all touring style bikes and more specifically why not a Wing, the so-called "King of touring bikes"?
21. For the most point Kevin, I agree with you. But I'm not talking about those things we "want" to do .... it's those things we almost have to do ... like having to grease the hub pins on a virtually new bike because the factory doesn't put enough on to begin with.... or having to change the head bearings because of poor design, or knowing that the chances of having to replace the rear shock long before it should be due is almost inevitable. Just a few examples that I can think of out of so many that seem to come to light in here. How many other "issues" are there on these bikes (not just Yammis). What about Harleys for example ... let's hear from some of the owners here on what they've found that needed "fixing" almost right away or perhaps long before it really should have due to poor design or whatever. For some reason, motorcycles aren't like cages ... most of the time, you can buy a new or slightly used cage and drive that thing for a few years and several thousand miles before having to do anything other than regular maintenance. I'm just raising this for discussion coz I figgured it might be interesting and again, coz I was "wondering" ... and even tho I have stuff to do at work, I'm procrastinating ... LOL
22. I don't say anything when the wife goes out and spends $150 on makeup, etc, gets her pedicures and manicures and, and, and.... and she doesn't say anything to me when I buy more bling for the bike. We have an unspoken "Agreement".
23. After reading jer878's thread about his new Wing I got to wondering.... We go out and buy a new or fairly new bike and some of the firsts thing we start doing is modifying them. Handle bar risers, Air Wings, Levelling links, Progressive springs, .... the list seems endless (and none of this involves safety chrome). And we're told that the front bearings need to be lubed and torqued, the hub pins are dry and need to be lubed, etc, etc... DANG!!! does anybody make a bike that doesn't need so much adjustments and modifications so a guy can just get on the danged thing and ride it without having to change this, adjust that, and lube what the factory didn't???? Something is wrong with this picture!
24. TRUCKER'S BREAKFAST A trucker came into a Truck Stop Cafe' and placed his order. He said I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.' The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, 'This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.... What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?' 'No,' the cook said. 'Three flat tires ... mean three pancakes; a pair of headlights.. is two eggs sunny side up; and a pair of running boards... Are 2 slices of crisp bacon ! 'Oh... OK!' said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer. The trucker asked, 'What are the beans for, Blondie?' I LOVE THIS ONE......... 'She replied, 'I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up! FOR ONCE THE BLONDE GETS EVEN!!!!!
