Mine is 24 by 36 and everyone who had a shop told me things to do and I didn't listen and now regret it.Such as put in a floor drain and once I decide on the size go bigger and put running water in it.Other than that I love it.I am some day going to add on a seperate room for my aircompressor parts washer and wood working tools.

Changed the bulb on my 2001 RSV tonight, split the fairing etc. and started the bike up and no low beam.So I checked the old bulb with a multi meter and it shows the old bulb is good.Any ideas anyone? My bike has no modulator. When I tear into it again I am going to check the pigtail to the headlight for current on low and high beam.I am thinking either wiring problem or the switch.Any other things I should check?I do have high beam and running lights work.

Way to go keep it up.

Replacing Front Wheel Bearings
hog replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Do you have a welder?Or access to one?The way I removed my bearings was to put in a piece of cold roll steel inside the inner race of the bearing ,(a piece of all thread rod or a bolt will work) and tack weld the inner race of the bearing to the cold roll and then take a hammer and hit the cold roll or bolt and drive out the bearing then remove the spacer and then access to the bearing on the other side is easy. You may want to cover your rim and tire with something while welding it though. -
Glad your Ok,that is my biggest fear about riding in the dark is hitting a deer.Maybe that is why I crank up the stereo so loud on the bike when it is dark to hopefully scare deer away or let them know I am coming.

Congratulations way to go.I agree on the too dangerous part.

Feb. 2nd was 22 years for me with the help of a few friends, sponsors and my belief in a power greater than myself.Kind of ironic though that I gave up riding about 25 years ago because of fear that I would kill myself riding while messed up because of some of the accidents I had. Then gas hit 4.00 a gallon and told the wife I gotta get a bike, this 32 mile drive to work one way is going to break us.So I got a bike again just to ride to work and back.Long story short,I had forgotten how much I loved to ride.

Fairly new here and just wondering how many on here are Clean and Sober?

Ok,here is the real deal everyone.I too as many of you have; have run into those Die hard Harley riders and obnoxious dealers ,salesmen etc. that spout of all the crap about why we don't own or ride Harley's,and go on and on about them being American made. I get asked many many times on poker runs and when meeting just common folks (not bikers),what do you ride or they say cool when they hear my name and say do you ride one.Because my first name is Harley. My reply varies depending on if the person rides one or not.If they are not riders I usually just say something along the lines of can't afford one or I like to ride my bike not tow it.I try to avoid the confrontation with Harley owners but every now and then you find the ones who are really down on jap bikes so to speak and then I got a whole slew of answers to them, such as I can sit and idle in traffic for hours in 100 degree heat and not worry about the bike getting too hot can you?I could use the extra 10 grand I would spend for a Harley and spend it in gas to ride. To me it is not what you ride it is the fact that you ride.I have owned a Harley before and it was an 2001 model and it leaked oil out of the air cleaner and all down the side of the bike,(thought someone said they took care of all those oil leak problems)dealer told me Harley screwed up and put the crankcase breather tube too high in the air cleaner and said the easy fix was to put a kotex sanitary pad in the aircleaner bottom to soak up the oil and to change it everytime I change the oil.I bought a pad and sold the bike.

Doesn't surprise me a bit.I had a judge in my home town who actually showed up in court with traces of cocaine in his mustache very often and finally the county attorney convinced him to step down from the bench.

Gas tank pressuring up and spreading
hog replied to hog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
He found the problem.Behind one of the side covers and under the seat is a either filter or a check valve in the line which the previous owner had removed and put back on the wrong way which did not allow the tank to vent. Thanks -
Anyone here ever hear of a gas tank building so much pressure in it that it actually spread apart causing the front of the tank to spread out and pop off the front mounts?I parked my Venture and my son's Venture outside the shop yesterday temp outside was 90 degrees and my son's tank had swelled up and spread apart. There is about a two inch gap between the tank mount and where it bolts to the frame. The guy he bought it from told him if he is riding and it starts to run like crap to just push down on the gas cap and it will quit running bad and that worked he said he kept getting a strong gas smell and so he thought a relief valve was installed wrong so he took it off and turned it the other way.I am guessing that was a vent and him turning it around caused the pressure to not vent out.Does anyone know where that vent valve may be located and where a guy may find a good used tank? Thanks

I had an 88 Voyager 1200 before i got my Royal Star Venture aand really liked it too, very fast bike but lack of accessories for it and wanting a bike with a stereo that works and a very sweet deal on the Venture forced me to sell it.Have you noticed the low speed wobble in the front forks?Or does it have the aftermarket superbrace on it?

It wasn't 2 up but my son just bought a 03 Midnight Venture and rode it home 613 miles in about 10 and a half hours only stopping for fuel and once to grab a bite to eat real quick and said when he got home his back, butt and legs were still fine to ride even longer he has the utopia backrest on it which I am sure helped.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.It is always such a shock when someone young passes on.I lost my first wife when she and I were 20 so I can kind of relate to what it must be like for you.

Made my own links and put them on aand also replaced my rear tire with a pirellii route 66 tire and it handles like a totally different bike.

A few years back my son and I were out for a Sunday afternoon ride him following me on his sportster and we came upon a car upside down up in a cornfield and two other vehicles were stopped so I slowed a little untill I saw a person upside down in the car and no one was helping her they were just standing there looking at her so I got on my brakes hard to stop and suddenly I hear tires squeeling and it was my son hitting his breaks trying to avoid hitting me luckily he did miss me.I guess I just acted on instinct without thinking and wanted to stop and help if possible.Sorry to say but it was too late the girl did not survive and what made it worse was she was a good friend of my son.

I ride 32 miles one way to work when it is in the lower 20's.I wear a pair of nylon windstop pants under my chaps and leather coat with the liner in it and a themal shirt and bought a cheap 5.00 scarf from walmart to keep the wind from going in around my neck down my jacket and a pair of gloves that the tops are big enough to go over the sleeves of my leather jacket to keep wind from going up my sleeves and I manage to stay pretty warm that way.My face is the only thing that get chilly and have tried calvalcias but they fog up my glasses and a full face helmet does the same.

I here you pal,I had one of those days a while back when it seemed everyone was out to test either my riding abilities or my patience.Aparently thank God my riding ability must be better than my patience because my bike and I survived both instances unharmed. The first test came when a guy stopped at a stop sign kept creeping close to the intersection on a curve I was on and some little voice in the back of my head said to me watch this guy he is going to take off at the last minute and sure enough, zoom he floors it and pulls right in front of me ,luckily there was a parking lot to my right and I hit the brakes and went up in the parking lot to avoid hitting him broadside then I proceeded to downshift very quickly and got on it so I could pull beside him and give him the good old Clifornia one finger wave and he looks at me like what is your problem. Then later in the day after work I am sitting stopped at a stop sign waiting on traffic and I see this car pull up behind me and stop.I am sitting there waiting for cars to go by and the car behind me decides it is time to go and starts pushing me out into traffic then finally she realizes I am in front of her and stops.I Immediately put down my kickstand look at my bike, thank God my trailer hitch matched with her bumper and no damage but then I proceeded to go back to her car and in not such a polite way ask her where the hell did she get her drivers license as she was rolling up her window. Some days it is best to listen to that voice I guess.

Made my own leveling links and put them on a few weeks ago and also put on a new perelli rear tire and lowered my front fork pressure nto 4 psi and it rides like a totally fifferent bike.Corners much easier and much more stable at slow speeds,Hate like hell for riding drsdon to be over soon.

I have had back problems for years plus ruptured a disc in my neck and had a fusion done on it years ago which did wonders. But if you go the surgery route be sure to shop around and get a good surgeon,I have a friend who is messed up for life because of a botched surgery on his back.Check with a doctor about the hanging thing someone else mentioned here.I bought what is called an inversion table where you strap your ankles in and lean back and raise your arms above your head and it will hang you upside down and it stretches out the vertebrea and makes room for the discs and relieves the pressure on the nerves.I only use it when my back flares up and I feel relief immediately after hanging only a few minutes.
