  1. Heard somewhere a long time ago that the folks in the UK wear their front tires on the right side. Also heard it had something to do with the fact that, for us right sided drivers, Left hand turns are longer than right hand turns. ???
  2. For some folks softer is not better. Yamaha's stock seats are all soft, Every one of them I've ever ridden causes me pain after about an hour. The firmer the better (up to a point) for me. Corbins are relatively firm and I did much better with them. Now on a Russell and it lives up to it's name (Day Long) for me.
  3. I ride a Russel Day Long. I can ride ALL DAY LONG (have done 15hr's in the saddle) with zero discomfort. This seat came on the bike from PO so I can't compare it to stock or anything else. On other bikes I have ridden Stock, and Corbin and tried various pads. The Russell is the only seat I've ever had that I have no discomfort, no matter how long a ride. Caveat Emptor: everyones butt is different, so YMMV.
  4. Mine sat overnight at around 75lb. let it all out and tried again in the am. no joy. I let it down again, re-lubed it, and decided to go until it "popped"; one way or t'other. Second bead seated at appx. 95lb. YMMV - sp!ke
  5. I looked at the Ebay you listed and you might be happy with what I'm sending you!, It already contains the Adjure lens that i see in the ebay advert. Prolly just clean up some glue and put your trim ring on. Working all weekend so it'll be tues before I can ship. BTW I also have 2 matching "adjur" spots if you want to make offer on those?
  6. I put a Kumho on recently(Discount Tire, $82) and it took about 95lb to seat. Thats with lots of goo(I use KY). The solution I use to make it safer is to add a 25' air hose extension with a clip on inflator. That way you can be on the other side of a wall adding air and waiting for the 2 "pops". Start with a nice clean rim, and lube the crap out of it. The rear will still lock-up, just takes a bit more pedal to do it.
  7. I have a headlight. However.... The PO changed the lense to an Adjure, and it didn't look good(to me), and wouldn't allow for a Visor since the trim ring was/is gone. So I replaced it with Stock headlight(from Pinwall). Yours for shipping. Let me know. sp!ke
  8. Seems like you've determined it's not a wiring issue. If it's the electronics (not sure where the intercom crcuitry resides), then it sure sounds like you've developed a heat sensitive circuit inside. From the days of old(electronics technician), the only way to find the exact component would be to take it apart and spray eachcomponent with freeze spray. Usually it will start working once you hit the right component. Then change the component. Might be better off finding a used one to swap and/or someone that services them. Intermittent heat issues can be VERY difficult to track down.
  9. They changed the name a couple years ago. Moonshiner. Somebody apparently likes the illegal corn liquor connotation better than the religous reference to El Diablo's home . -lol
  10. I just did a price match with MC superstore against a SW-Moto price on a Metzeler MT90B-16. No issues. Granted, I made the price match request before the purchase.
  11. DONT! use FRAM! Do some reading here and elsewhere. Paper end cap deteriorates and clogs oil galleys. Bye Bye motor.
  12. I, like some above, run a Nuvi 765T. Went that route for same reason you mention. NOT gonna spend for a Zumo. It is mounted with a ram mount and has it's own little ziplock bag that resides in the tank bra pouch(can be applied on the go). The reason I went from a 25x class to the 765 was for MP3 and the audio conn to the bike. It is VERY nice to have the nice australian lady tell me my turn is coming up without having to take my eyes off the road. It does routes -sort of. On long trips I map the whole route with stops for gas and lunch and then GPX them to the unit. Use waypoints to keep you on the path you wanted. IE: just 'cuz you mapped a route on the puter, nothing says thats the way the GPS will take you. There's more art than science in getting routes into a GPS and then getting it to take you the way you planned. Many (me included) can tell you stories of being guided down a goat path that you had no intention of being on.
  13. Welcome to NC. I live in Raleigh, few other members smattered around here that ride together; give a shout if ya wanna get together sometime. It will get HOT! Wait until late July/ mid August before you think it's not that hot down here. Being from New England I'll take the heat anyday over the white fluffy stuff! "White fluffy stuff" sounds so tame. NOT!
  14. Had a similar issue one day when I was working on my RSV. Had taken the lower fairing off to work on Cruise. Got it fixed and went for a ride with fairing off. Bike ran like CRAP! in 4th and 5th. Thinking "now what have i messed up". Checked everything over good and tried again. Still the same. Then dawn broke over marblehead. With the fairing off I was getting too much air in the intake. Running real lean at speed. Look for something like that affecting your intake(s). There's a couple little hoses that hang around near the lowers that need to be in still air (I think). sp!ke
  15. Can't explain it but I say it works as well. Changed the top brake line back to stock(on my Roadstar) and went thru maybe 1/2 bottle of fluid trying to get nice hard brake back. Got brake but still a bit squishy. Tied the lever to the thottle over night and next morning after releasing it I have a nice hard brake. Have ridden it numerous times since and still same hard pull. Can't pull lever to the throttle. sp!ke
  16. These are on sale in the stores @ 34.95 until 4/28. There are coupons that just came out in a direct mailer that will get you $5 off $15. IE: 29.95ea + Tax. For those that live near a store that is.... (Not saying where I work -lol)
  17. Thoughts and Prayers to you and your Family
  18. My 2004 RSV came with a Russel Day Long. Luckily the PO and I are constructed very similar, height, weight, etc... Had a lot of bikes and tried lots of seats, Never had a seat this comfy. I have ridden 500 mi for an 11hr day, and upon returning home felt like I coulda gone right back out and done it again. ZERO discomfort. sp!ke
  19. TheKid and I are both using these lights and we both love them. (I just picked up 2 pair for another friend as well) They have more dispersion than the stock incandescants, but are quite bright and light up the sides of the road nicely. My main concern/objective for running lights is being seen and these def do that. There is no Radio interferance. The bulbs come out of the rubber housing and drop right in to the stock housing on the bike. You will need to add some spade lugs on the bare wires. I reccommend using the weatherproof type and always use dielectric grease on the connections sp!ke
  20. I work for Northern, and it is always that price ($6.48).
  21. Try this? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=14934864&findingMethod=rr
  22. I would stay away from "float" chargers. They do not have the intelligence to properly "maintain" a battery. I use the "tender" from batteryminder, it stops charging and waits until it needs to charge again based on the battery voltage as it drops over time. It also does desulphation, which will ruin a battery that has had too many charging cycles from almost drained condition to fully charged. Can be had for $35-40 on sale at numerous outlets. I only use the tender when the bike will sit for weeks or more. I have yet to have a battery go bad within 5-6 years. I buy a new battery around that timeframe, needed or not.
  23. Just wanted to share my recent experience w/ riding all day. I've had my 04 RSMV for about a month now and done a few 150-200 mi days. Based on that I was execting the outcome of an all day to be good. Well.... I just took some folks to Daytona and back. We covered appx 1500 mi's, the last day being an all day of about 550mi. I've been working my way up to a full touring bike and just moved to the RSV from a Roadstar. The R* would've beat me up pretty good on this trip. The Venture was a DREAM. I had no comfort or performance issues whatsoever. Rode 11hr's on Sunday with a few short gas breaks and when I got home I felt like I could do an another 11hrs with no trouble. The Venture came with Russell All-Day seats that were custom made for the PO. Luckily he and I are of similar build. The seat felt strange when I first got on it but now I love it. Guess that's why the call them "all day".
  24. Have only tried rider/pass helmets/headsets once since I just got the bike. This post leads me to a question... If the IC vol is turned down to zero (off), I do not hear the passenger when she transmits on CB, nor does she hear me when I transmit. Is this normal operation? The CB works fine otherwise, other bikes can hear me or the passenger and we can both hear other bikes when they transmit sp!ke
