  1. Hope that gives you an even bubble, Chief (you know what I'm talking about).
  2. I think the only thing changed on these bikes from year to year is the color.
  3. Congratulations. They always seem to put a smile your face.
  4. If you have the capability to go back to a previous date, when the machine was running good, you might try that. Some programs like Norton have a "Go Back" feature that comes up during restart.
  5. Many have reported it is normal to have low volume coming from the rear speakers when selected to headset. Mine does it also. This shoudl not be a concern.
  6. There is a lot further south of Eck. I consider him to be WAY up north probably even sees some snow. And my location is nothing compared to Key West, Florida.
  7. I have the XXL shield and my wife (5'6") says there is no buffetting on the back at all. I also have the vent, and definitely recommend you get that. I like the vent option so much, I even installed one on my stock windshield. The only drawback to a vent is that when open, they allow bugs, or parts of bugs, to reach you. I have considered inserting some window screen in mine, but haven't done that yet.
  8. OK, now that it's up there, now what?

    Seat removal II

I always wondered about that. Why did the left side have it and not the right? Your answer is plausible, but I think I will do what you did and take it off. I am always very careful when filling the tank.
  10. Especially interesting since for every 3 db increase it takes twice the energy.
  11. I printed out Freebirds' pictures and instructions, and put them with my shop manual. Be advised that the shop manual has some of the illustrations wrong. Using Freebird's directions will help you get the job done.
  12. You can mount it with an audio cable to the AUX input to your receiver. Squidly has a link that shows you how to use a 'Y' connector in the back of the amplifier. You will need to split the fairing, but his pictures and instructions take you through it step by step. If you don't want to go through all that, you can just plug it in to the front of your cassette player AUX input. The Garmin will interrupt the music to give directions when necessary, which helps you keep your eyes on the road. Your going to love your new technology toy.
  13. You are right. By stock, I mean OE (original equipment). It has Yamaha stamped on the shield. I have one of the taller shields, not the medium size. As far as the vent goes, I had one on the Goldwing I owned, and it was fantastic for getting a little "breeze" behind the windshield where a dead-air space normally exists. Goes a long way to give you a little cooling when traveling down the road. Just be advised that if it passes air, it also passes bugs. Or parts of bugs. But that's the trade off. I thought so much of it that I installed one in the 'original' shield, and got one for the Clearview Shield. Hope this answers your question.
  14. There should also be a brake switch associated with the front (hand) brake.
  15. Keep in mind there are several 'stock' heights. Mine came with the tall one, and the XXL is just a little taller.
  16. I am 6'2" and have the XXL windshield. I can look over it if I stretch up, but it is a stretch. I have ordered the XL to see if it works better for me - I would like to look just over the top of the shield. But the deciding factor will be if the XL still offers the protection for the passenger. My wife says the XXL does an excellent job of protecting her from buffeting.
  17. Perhaps that includes some really delicious gormet food.
  18. Your welcome.
  19. I drilled two holes in the plastic part of the bottom of mine, and ran the wires through the holes. Then, I soldered the wires on to the tabs, and filled the areas with silicone RTV. As a result, nothing is sticking out the bottom, and the connections are water tight.
  20. I think you menat to say you 'bring down the center stand with the right foot'.
  21. Thanks for the info. KA5BWT 73s
  22. You made out!! You can't beet service like that. Outstanding.
  23. Also be sure you have downloaded any updates, both software for the Zumo, and the latest version of North America maps. I think the latest is version 8.
  24. That's "The Golden Rule". He who has the gold..........................
  25. I put some of those self-adhesive felt pads over the heads of the bolts on the inside of the trunk lid. That way, if they made contact with a helmet when the lid was closed, they wouldn't scratch the finish.
