  1. I agree dont use starting fluid, use cab cleaner, maybe you have it flooded and the plugs are soaked with fule, I would take them out and check them and see if you are getting fire to the plugs. If you are then give it a try with carb cleaner if it starts then you got a fule problem. Orlin
  2. I will be going threw the 92 greaseing everythinig that needs to be greased and fixing acouple of little things and replaceing the rear tire and a new windsheild. I dont have much to do to the 87 other than repair a couple of small cracks after replacing the engine this fall I dont have much to do to that one. Then I will go threw the 2 84s and get them ready to sell in the spring, It will be sad to see the Black 84 go Sharon and I have put some fun miles on it and it got us back into riding again. Orlin
  3. I have 2 friends that have Shadows they ride alot and never seem to have a problem with them. I have rode them and they are easy to get on and off and to get up off of the kickstand and seemed to handle good. If you like it get it and enjoy. Orlin
  4. I guess that it is called a fender badge also, I would like to get one. Anyone have one for sale or know of a place that still sells them. Orlin

  8. I have been asked if I was going to host another Mat, Day and I said that I would and after talking to Sharon we decided we would make this a annual event and put a name to it, I didnt want to use Wisconsin Mat, Day because it has been used by others and that way it still can be. The date will be June 29th 2013 at our place near Viroqua Wisconsin. Orlin

  11. My 84 does the same thing when I have a passenger, the first time it done I thought for sure something was going and after riding some good twisty windy roads it went away. Orlin

  16. Wer made it home after only going 120 miles out of our way to get there, I took a right instead of left and we were talking away and see this sighn and I say oh _____ I am sure you have herd it before, so we turn around and make our way there, and we ended up taking the pickup and trailer because of the rain ended up didnt need it but with road construction and detours glad I did. Anyway we get there and its just what I was told nice shape no cracks anywhere needs a good cleaning and most of the dust just blew off on the way home, he said sorry about that and I said its just what I wanted to see not spotless clean. I started it up took it for a ride runs out nice let it run checked it all over, loaded it up and came home. Tomarrow is cleaning day and go for a ride. Orlin
  17. We are going to Janesville WI, to pick a 1992 Blue Venture today, sure hope that this ends up being a better one than the one I got three weeks ago, that was doctored up with stop leak. Looks from the pics to be in very nice shape everything is there still has the cargo bags . All of the plastic is is good shape. The PO said its been a very good cycle and that he doesnt ride much anymore and wanted to get his daughter a nice scooter to cruze around town on. I will get some pics on here when I get it home and all cleaned up. Orlin
  18. I talked with the place that I got the cycle from and told them what I found, and they told me to let them know what I will need for parts that they would like to help me out. And that they would not have taken it in and sold it if they had any idea that it had been doctored up. Nice to know that they are willing to help me out I told him I will send him some pics of the cycle and the head gaskets so that he knows that I am being truthfull with them. The one good thing is I will know what I have once I get it put back together. Orlin
  19. Yes this is the one I just got, I called them when I first noticed something was wrong, I emailed them today and let them know what I found and what had to be done but I havent herd back from them yet so I am going to call them tomarrow. I have the feeling that I am on my own, Orlin
  20. I will be putting in a diffrent motor I took out the 2 front plugs and I could tell that number 2 cylinder is now getting coolant in the oil so I have the motor out and now I have to get the other motor in. I had picked up a couple of parts bike a couple of years ago and the one had a good 1300 in it. So Im thinkinig by the weekend I will be riding down the road again. Orlin
  21. I still have the engine in I was able to get the rear head off with out pulling the motor. I am not sure the front one will come off with it in. Orlin
  22. Well its for sure the head gasket I pulled the head today and found a gasket that was in bad shape. The heads looked good and the cylinders look good. But I am wondering about the bearings the engine still sounded good but I have no idea of how long it had been drove this way. I did find that they had put stop leak in it so I am sure the PO new about this and thats why he traded it off, Is there a way to test the other head with out pulling it . Orlinhttp://0358/
  23. Okay after taking the twinkie off the water pump and seeing that all looked nice and clean no sighns of coolant in the oil and draining the oil and no sighns of any there. And when I called about gaskets I got to talk with one of the guys at the Yamaha shop here in Lacrosse and he said that I could rule out a bad head gasket that I had done most of what he would have done. And his thought was air in the cooing system and a stuck needle or float in the carb and it was fule building up in the oil. Same thing that the place I got it from said and what was said on here. So I did things to get the air out. This morning the coolant was the same as when I got done yesterday. While I had the air box off I sprayed carb cleaner down into the carbs and found that number three had no change so I kept sprying the carb cleaner in and it started to work. So I took it for a short ride came home parked it and shut the fule off and the oil level stayed the same over night. Sure hope I have gotten to bottom of this going to try and get out for a test ride today. Thanks for all of the help. Orlin
