  1. I think he should be glad that Eileen is allowing HIM to accompany HER!
  2. The MKII top bleeder bracket is a tab with a hole that is welded to the frame.
  3. The Tuxedo got Progressive® springs and an LED high mount brake light for the trunk.
  4. CAREFULLY pry after a good dousing of WD40. When you go to put the carbs back, spray some silicone around the heated boots. Make sure you reassemble the carbs as a rack while on a flat surface to insure proper alignment of carbs to intake boots.
  5. If you consider being a Peon at 'Retired.com' working, then I am working Christmas Eve.
  6. [h=2]To all my friends:[/h] I need to spend less time on the computer, so December 31st will be my last day on VentureRider.org for the year. I will return at the start of the new year on January 1st. Thank you for your understanding.
  7. Shameless bump. Because it is soon to be a new year and I wanted to.

  9. Are you saying that you are going to retain the MKI forks because you don't want to use the electric MKII anti-dive? And you want to use R1 calipers on the MKI forks? R1/R6 calipers will not bolt up to MKI forks. I'm not saying that it can't be done (R1/R6 calipers on MKI forks) but it will require a fair amount of fabrication. I fear it would be very difficult to adapt the MKI hydraulic anti-dive to the MKII forks, although, frankly I've never seen such a conversion.
  10. O.M.G.! The image is permanently burned into my retinas. I think I will have to apply for SSDI, now.
  11. The relocation of the TCI is exclusively an owner modification. Yamaha installed the TCI in the same location throughout the First Generation Venture manufacturing run. The air box is unchanged when the TCI is relocated.
  12. I am a carpenter (a hammer is iconic) and I am an Illinois native and resident. Illinois is called 'The Prairie State'. Ergo: Prairiehammer.
  13. Yeah, I was watching that particular auction and I noted that although the starter was described as coming from a 1987 (which from the factory had a two brush starter), that it was in fact a four brush starter. Got it cheap, too didn't you. $25 or so? The lack of the big Phillips screws was a give away and it also had SM13 cast into the end cap (another indicator of a four brush starter). The two brush starter end cap will have SM229xx cast into the end cap.
  14. Any 1300 V4 (First Gen Venture, 1991-1993; any Royal Star, 1996-2001, 2005-2009; any Royal Star Venture, 1999-2013) and 1991-2007 First Gen V-Max.
  15. Couple things I notice: 1. The icons on the monitor are dimly showing even when there should be no icon showing, with the only icon that should be showing (the kickstand warning) and the gas gauge showing slightly more contrast and 'brightness'. 2. Your profile says you have a 1983, but the pictures show a later year instrument cluster. I would suspect that your problem lies with the different years.
  16. Noticed some spam in the post as well. Oh, Freebird....
  17. OK, seriously this time... The tire doesn't fit between the final drive and the right side of the swing arm? Apparently, the new tire is physically larger, even if the numerical size on the sidewall is the same as the old tire. Not all manufacturers make the same physical size tire within the numerical size. Then there is the difference between metric size and 'Letter' size (MU90 v. 140/90). Both are made for our Ventures, but they are NOT the same physical size. The Dunlop Elite3 was physically larger than the same 'size' Dunlop Elite2 that I took off the '90. I too had to wrestle the Elite3 before I could get it on. IIRC, I ended up deflating it and still had to kinda of 'angle' it in, all the while kicking, screaming and cussing.
  18. You know you have to take the axle out first, right?
