  8. My 1990 Royale delivered 42 mpg pretty consistently while two up and loaded on several 'flower sniffing' long trips. A trip to Florida averaged 41 mpg, but I was riding with four crazy brothers who liked to run 75-80 mph on the Interstate.

  10. Since 'ensack' is not a word, I'll combine 'hack' and 'ensack' to form Hackensack as in the city in New Joisy. So the new word to associate is New Jersey. Shoot! Took too long to formulate my reply. So associate this: Delaware.
  11. Bill, depending on the accessory fuse block that you use, there may be no ground to the fuseblock. But you are contemplating a fuse block with a built in relay? I am not familiar with that fuse block, but a ground wire will be needed to activate the relay. Can you post the pertinent manufacturer and model of this fuse block? See this thread on my fuse block upgrade. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/first-generation-venture-tech-talk/66650-upgraded-updated-fuse-block.html A simple wiring diagram of my fuse block with the auxiliary, relay switched, accessory fuse block is below.
  12. How long has it been since you topped off the battery electrolyte? A voltage regulator failure can 'cook' off the electrolyte quickly, on the other hand, the hot temperatures of Arizona can do that as well, albeit that will take longer.
  13. You have the speedo cable FORWARD of the lower triple tree. See on my diagram that the speedo cable goes REARWARD of the lower triple tree.
  14. Below is the factory specified speedometer cable routing; additionally, make sure the speedometer cable is threaded through the grommet on the fender.
  15. Proper assembly pic below. Make sure you didn't lose the 'collar' from within the wheel assembly. The collar fits inside the oil seal on right side of wheel. The collar will often fall out in the course of changing the tire. The correct arrangement: Wheel>collar>caliper bracket>washer>swingarm.
  16. Yep the caliper covers and the rotor covers are markedly different from 83-85 and 86-93. Won't say the rotor covers won't interchange with some modifications, but fo' sure the caliper covers won't.
  17. I recently picked up a full lock set (four saddlebag locks, gas cap and ignition switch from a MKII) on eBay for small money, albeit without key(s). I took one of the saddlebag locks to a local locksmith and he made two keys to fit for only $15. Considering the dealer gets $7.50 per key to copy an existing key, I thought this very reasonable. YMMV
  18. Clive, I have one of Skydoc's kits and I just measured the O-ring: 1mm x ~19.5-19.6mm OD

  20. Yeah, yeah, I know about your step by step, but I could not "feast my eyes" on the Harley for that long and I figured others may not be able to handle the sight either. So I offered an alternative for those who may not have your strong stomach.
  21. One free way to downsize big photos is to upload the photo to your Facebook page. No matter the size, Facebook will allow an upload and will then resize it to suit their requirements. Then download the resized pic back to your computer and post it here. Or you can download a free picture resizer. https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/
  22. That is interesting. There was a similar four into one setup (welded steel) for First Gens Ventures on eBay for about $350 or so and it did not include a carburetor. This one is 'cast composite'. If you can get the carb tuned to your engine, then I see some potential with that setup. Three fewer carbs to keep clean and repair. Much cheaper carb cost when replacement becomes necessary. May I suggest you order the package and tell us how it worked out. EDIT: Further research has indicated that today's (made in China) EMPI carburetors are of poor quality. Investigate the possibility of buying the manifold alone and then seek out a Solex for the carb.
  23. My better half and me.
