Relocating TCI
Prairiehammer replied to Donvito's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You may leave the "Boost Sensor in the stock location It makes no difference to the TCI which side is up (once it has been relocated to the top of the air box.). Once I had removed my TCI, I cut off both ears (since I was never going to return it to its old location). Removing the ears insures that you can fit the TCI under the cover easily and without any interference. On yours, if the TCI has been working well, I wouldn't mess with the diodes since you are not comfortable with their replacement. Once the TCI is relocated, if you decide to renew the diodes at a future date, it will be easy. -
Thank you, Jeff for the enlightenment. Being as we live in the boonies and don't have cable or satellite, I was unaware of the Monty Python 'Lumberjack Song'. I still don't understand, though what Monty Python's Lumberjack song has to do with "The Holy Grail"? Yes, the rock I live under is vewry, vewry dark and HEAVY. PS: I am still living in 1998 with Dial-Up Internet. 56K is supposed to be here soon.

Campfire said (in response to "the Holy Grail"): 'Lumberjack'. Can you explain that please?

So. If I drop in at 0300, I can use your bathroom? Kewl! Um...I won't get shot will I? Oh, BTW, I actually determined the GPS coordinates to your place.

It has been my experience that any lost item from that general area ends up on the swing arm in front of the tire. If you fail to find it: any 10mm bolt will fit. Banjo bolt, etc. Don't forget to add a sealing (crush) washer under the head. FYI: the size of the bolt can be determined from the Yamaha part number. In this case: '10015' translates as a 10mm diameter bolt, 15mm long.

Deja Vu all over again. In summer of 1970 Lonnie and I were comming back from Yellowstone when he ran

How is it that the Utah British Bike guys allowed you to ride with them? Were you the 'chase vehicle'? Back in the Seventies our club would not go anywhere with out a chase vehicle. It was an old Chevy pickup with a topper full of tools and parts, pulling a trailer. I rode a Honda, so I never had to worry, but the Harley and Triumph guys sure appreciated the chase vehicle (on several occasions). -

Depending on the care a member takes when placing their respective location pointer when updating the Member's Map, one can determine the member's location by zooming in on the map. If the pointer is placed accurately, zooming in will reveal the street and location on that street. And I doubt that any bot will be able to obtain a street address. For instance: I found where Cowpuc lives (is this your place?): complete with a covered motorcycle by the garage.

There is a VentureLine backrest, sold by Yamaha as an accessory. Is that what you mean by 'OEM'? Here is the VentureLine on my 1991. -

Dave, I have a Markland backrest in black for sale. It is almost new in appearance and made to fit a MKII. -
Ha. I only wish I had knobbies on that Honda that day. We were camped at Big Bend NP and during the night they flooded some of the campgound as irrigation, I suppose. Anyway, we woke in the morning to our site flooded and I had to ride the bike out to the road through the water. The tires are street tires, a Dunlop K81 on the front and a Bridgestone on the rear. The K81 picked up a bit of mud and makes it look like a knobbie. The previous pic of me and the Honda was taken while we on the way to Big Bend.

The needle valve assembly for the Venture carb is not obsolete. Yamaha still offers it for both the 1983-1984 and the 1985-1993. There a couple aftermarket suppliers of the needle valve assembly as well. 1983-1984: 22U-14190-15-00 1985-1993: 1FK-14190-15-00

Front tire on 1st gen E3 or...?
Prairiehammer replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've had E3 on front and rear on both my latest two Ventures. The front tire is rounded more than the rear. -
Lenny, I was not picking on you alone...you are not the only one who has asked for clarification about right or left. I think the question is as old as motorcycles. I just don't understand why there is such an old question.

I've never understood the 'left-right' confusion on a motorcycle. There seems to be no confusion about which side is the left side of a CAR. Why the confusion for a motorcycle?
