  1. Both the Markland and the VentureLine mount the same way on the MKII.
  2. There is a VentureLine backrest, sold by Yamaha as an accessory. Is that what you mean by 'OEM'? Here is the VentureLine on my 1991.
  3. Dave, I have a Markland backrest in black for sale. It is almost new in appearance and made to fit a MKII.
  4. Ha. I only wish I had knobbies on that Honda that day. We were camped at Big Bend NP and during the night they flooded some of the campgound as irrigation, I suppose. Anyway, we woke in the morning to our site flooded and I had to ride the bike out to the road through the water. The tires are street tires, a Dunlop K81 on the front and a Bridgestone on the rear. The K81 picked up a bit of mud and makes it look like a knobbie. The previous pic of me and the Honda was taken while we on the way to Big Bend.
  5. Thank you very much Jerry, for your contribution to the database. It helps a lot.
  6. The needle valve assembly for the Venture carb is not obsolete. Yamaha still offers it for both the 1983-1984 and the 1985-1993. There a couple aftermarket suppliers of the needle valve assembly as well. 1983-1984: 22U-14190-15-00 1985-1993: 1FK-14190-15-00
  7. I've had E3 on front and rear on both my latest two Ventures. The front tire is rounded more than the rear.
  8. Which of these phonetic alphabets is correct? Notice that neither sounds like 'zed' for "Z".
  9. Thank you, George. When you get a chance, would you note the manufactured date? Thanks.
  10. Lenny, I was not picking on you alone...you are not the only one who has asked for clarification about right or left. I think the question is as old as motorcycles. I just don't understand why there is such an old question.
  11. Go!....(Rinny)
  12. I've never understood the 'left-right' confusion on a motorcycle. There seems to be no confusion about which side is the left side of a CAR. Why the confusion for a motorcycle?
  13. Fun
  14. Indeed. My brother has a condo near Pelican Bay (FL) and another near Melbourne Beach (FL) and he STILL doesn't have a place to work/play with his Harley. And believe you me, if one owns and rides a Harley, one should have a place to work on it. I built a 'shop' to do cabinet making, woodworking and motorcycle storage/maintenance. If I had a condo, where would I do all those things?
  15. You should like this one "Olddodge", Old Dodge (City) Kansas: Rider
  16. Short! (Like me)
Bedankt, Herbert.
  19. On my 1983 XVZ 'Sport Tourer', I have removed the lowers. The pros: less weight (albeit only a couple pounds), more streamlined, sleeker look. Cons: less protection from the elements. I too have contemplated installing lights within the air intakes on the XVZ12. Obviously, installing lights there would obstruct air flow to the 'shin vents' in the lowers, but with the lowers removed, that of course, is not an issue.

  21. you no, that isn't good..... SPOON
  22. Sent PayPal for two, Don. Thanks.
  23. Whoa! Continue to fly, Black Owl. Pork in the Pines wouldn't be the same if you weren't there. Chin up, Russ and hang in there.
  24. Thanks, Don. Though I never met Dan (Danl), we did exchange posts and I believe more than a few PMs on the Venturers site, back in the day. He was member #16 and rode a 2001 RSV back then. To quote Dan's signature: "I'm like an old stallion who's longing for freedom, trying to outrun the wind"
