Am I one of those folks that has been 'pretty good' or is my signature too expansive?

On my signature, I actually have three images; the Big Red One, the US map and the Canadian map. The Big Red One image came from my computer, but the two maps come from my photobucket account. I did this before the change, so I am not sure how to replicate if needed. Hopefully, won't have to...unless of course, I chalk up more States and Provinces.

Brake pads?
Prairiehammer replied to Goose68's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had SBS 613HS sintered pads in the stock calipers on my 1990. If I jumped on both brakes, as in a emergency stop, the front wheel would lock up. Never having locked up the front wheel before, no matter the braking effort, I was understandably quite surprised. No harm the first time and I didn't encounter another emergency braking situation again until the guy cut me off in Ohio. As I counter-steered to the left and applied full braking, the front wheel locked up and down we went. -
Antidive removal

If it were me, I would leave the EAD in place on the forks and just electrically unplug them. The solenoids are deactivated and the spool valve is open at rest, with no oil control or electrical load. -

I lost my virginity last night on chat. Thanks Jeff and Rodney (and Tooch watched). -
Thanks for your contribution, Ian. Curiously, I found that I had already entered your bike's VIN. I had no comments attached to that entry, so I can not tell where I got it, but I did note that it was in Australia. Yes, you are correct about your bike being intended for the Canadian destination market, however, your Venture is a 1991, not a 1990. The build date is interesting. a build date in June for any year Venture has not been noted prior to your submission. If the build date on yours is truly 06/90, it would confirm my hypothesis that the Canadian bikes were built prior to the US bikes for any particular year. Does your Venture have a factory paint scheme? There was no blue in the 1991 US Venture line (although, the 'black' 1991 Venture was called by Yamaha 'New Black Blue'. An intriguing possibility that the 1991 Canadian Ventures had a different color than the US versions. Ian, if you desire a copy of this database to date, please PM your email address and it will be sent post haste.

Motortrike Voyager 1300 conversion

A snippet from the Yamaha Service Manual: Note that the maximum (manually adjusted) is even more at 21 psi. Unless you replace the front stock (undoubtedly fatigued) springs with Progressive®, I would experiment with the higher pressures. The OEM front forks are notorious for bottoming out when too little air is used. In your situation, I would consider using Progressive springs AND air. -

Replacement 1st. Gen horns

Where is the compressor? Oh, now I see it (kinda). Next to the air tank. And shouldn't the horns point forward for most effective notice? -

You still haven't figured out the train horns installation? Been a year or more, hasn't it? a. Compressor in trunk b. One horn on each side mounted to the saddlebag guards (remove and discard the saddlebags) c. Air tank on the passenger seat -

This the famous Nigerian IMPEX 419 scam. But, the Nigerians seem to have moved to 'Swiss'. LOL. These things really make me chuckle. A good grasp of the English should be priority one for a successful scammer. -

Glenn, the stock Venture Royale CLASS had manual settings and automatic settings for Low, Medium, High. Depressing the Auto Low button resulted in 11 psi for the front forks. Auto Medium equaled 14 psi and Auto High translated to 17 psi. Considering that the Venture trike weighs substantially more than the stock Venture, I would probably use 17 psi on your forks to prevent bottoming. Paul is incorrect when he says not to use more than 8 psi on the forks. Yamaha recommends a minimum of 11 psi and a maximum of 17 psi. -
Rear End Questions:
Prairiehammer replied to videoarizona's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That's a valid premise, Frank. I am wondering if there is a 'prying' or 'levering' of the tallish cup shaped coupler gear. When the drive shaft rises or sinks with the application of engine torque, especially when the rear wheel is traversing dips and bumps in the roadway, causing the coupler to stress the pinion shaft at the shoulder of the threaded portion. Imagine a 2' long lever (the drive shaft) acting on the coupler and pinion trying to bend the coupler off the pinion. The drive shaft to coupler splines may become bound, preventing the sliding of the drive shaft and coupler, inducing a lateral force to the coupler. And the coupler is 'free hanging' with nothing but the outer oil seal to keep the coupler from wobbling. I dunno. Just theorizing. -
The manufacturing date was only on the white label adhered to the lower removable frame rail. So, it is gone? Odometer reading is just one of those things that may help someone contemplating purchasing a Venture that turns up on my database from an earlier entry (a recorded sale, for instance). Not a critical element. Thanks for the info. Do you want a copy of this database? Or are you not so anal as I? If you do want the file, I can forward it via email.
