  7. At the Kootaney's meet, it was semi rain then Rain. Rocket suggested Wet Skins. So off I went to the local Wally mart. Found them, But not the ones I noted, as he had the Cosco Wet Skins. Well I needed them the only thing was I looked like a big yellow Banana!!. But they worked along with the farmer sh*t kicker rubber boots I purchased as well. Total cost was 125.00 approx.. Must have been that evil TT:confused: guidance.lol (inside joke)..
  8. :soapbox:Just finished the Run to the Koots with Rocket on the way home and during the rally it rained. Well the bike became a little fickle, It dona like the rain or the Evil TomTom (But thats another story) Paul and I departed company after staying at Radium Springs. He had to get back quick. I still had a week of vacation from Calgary Transit. I made it back home via Highway 93 to Banff, then to Calgary, So having a week remaining I did the Kanaanaskis( Home of the 1986 winter Olympics) run From Highway 1 just outside of Camore Alberta Start at the Stoney Casino then south on highway 40.. Great mountains views but I don't want to thread hijack... Well heading into Longview the heavens opened up and the Mule (my bike's name)started to act up loosing the No. 3 cyl. intermittently. I knew what was up so on my way back to Calgary I stopped at Black Diamond Alberta (highly recommend this town for the fine fair) Stopped at the Black diamond Hotel, the steak here is SO good.. waited for the mule to dry out as the rain had subsided. Had the steak Yum.. Started her and we went the 30 kilometers to home. I left her sleep for two days, well you think she would start? NO, took some bit of Voodoo, finally she started and i could hear the snapping of the Coils. Sorry for the long wind, Today she ran super as she wasn't wet and she was dried out. I found new coils from a supplier I have, they are on the way. e for the trip to Edmonton lol..So to you sir, Change the coils install new Accel Black max solid core wires, new resistor boots and you cured. Next thing to fix is the 2nd gear and the diaphragms.. And yes Paul I left the evil one at home..

  16. It's not a bicycle that you can turn upsidown, or is it? Sorry, I had to go back and edit this comment. I have the same problem, my second is failing as well and I am driving her with the second gear skip. Having limited area to remove the engine, when the engine is pulled, move the bike off to a safe area if you have it, I suggest you purchase an auto engine stand, obtain 3/4 ft threaded stock and 4 nuts make this for the engine through hole brackets.Tighten the threaded stock, arrange the rods to fit the upper case, this will enable you to take the case bolts out and gain access to the transmission. On Ebay or Google, the is a video with this operation for a V-max, it shows all the procidures..hope this helped fix you bike..
  17. Air leak some where.. Check the boots, air hoses ect..A propane torch with the burner removed, install a hose on the brass end and search for the leak. The engine will gain rpm and then you have found the trouble.. Also a great carb and aluminum cleaner is Pinsol. Use it straight and immerse the striped carb block...Google it Honda forum AVD rider had a great story on it today(mechanics corner)
  18. It sounds like the reserve lighting unit. That can cause this symptom. Ask around the board if someone has one...

  20. Shop by Product Stators Regulators / Rectifiers CDI Ignition Units Accessories Got Questions? Ask a Parts Expert Common Technical Issues : Yamaha XVZ1300 Venture Royale BRAND : Yamaha MODEL : XVZ1300 Venture Royale YEAR : 86-89 CATEGORY : Street Bikes TECHNICAL ISSUE DETAILS These Yamaha models have a permanent magnet battery charging system, consisting of a stator with three output wires, which feed into a regulator/rectifier. This unit rectifies the AC into DC and regulates this DC to 14.5V to ensure proper battery charging. The output from the regulator/rectifier connects to the battery through a main fuse. Common faults in this system: 1) Bad electrical connections. We recommend checking all electrical connections in these bikes. The connectors are not that great, and the bikes are fairly old by now. Clean the connectors one by one with some contact cleaner and make sure the bullet style connectors are tight. 2) Regulator/rectifier failure. The OEM regulator/rectifier is a commonly failing part. 3) Stator failure. This is a common problem on these machines. Causes are age, heat and vibration. Test and replace when it tests bad. We recommend using the fault finding chart. This guide will help you diagnose the charging system quickly. Thanks to Electrosport. http://www.bikebandit.com/electrosport-industries-coils-stators/cm/a669900?WT.mc_id=2208269&WT.srch=1 The regulator is suspect. Did you replace the Stator windings as well ? you should always do the reg. and stator as a pair so the charging system can do it's job I did and I got my stator from Bike barn and I used a high output mosfet unit. Looks like you have some work ahead.
  21. The cover is being held by the gasket. place a flat screw driver on the rear of the cover, apply pressure, and wolla it pops off. now watch our for the starter gears to fall out!!!!!! watch for the orientation of the gears !!! This would be a great tine to change the stator. The hall effect units can now be changed.. Hope this helped.. Mike R..
  22. Princess Auto has digital snap and vernier to do this job you really need it.
