Pete, I assume you mean neutral light and others. Low fuel, overdrive, neutral are all on same circuit as well as other lights. Checking fuses would be easiest way to diagnose. I believe it is 15A fuse which are marked and is located behind left side cover under seat. Remove rear allen screw and pull towards you to remove two tangs on front of cover. Good luck.

Hose is to pipe in air or heat so the truckers can shut off engines to save fuel and pollution. Never understood why they left them running in mild weather when temp was comfortable.

The law is stupid relative to the penalty. Don't know if it is to protect the biker or the people. Only part of the law that makes sense is the 50mph over applies to cagers also as I read it. Now if this law is to protect the well being of the biker it is interesting that it is only a MISDEMEANOR of the first degree for a cager to kill a biker. First, second or third time.

It is ok to float or trickle charge Odyssey battery. Due to plate size however the float has to be approx. 13.6 volts. Many stand alone float chargers output is lower. This is also the reason they require 6 amp charger for normal charge because you need approx. 14.7 volts. Can't tell you if float charge helps much on Odessey batteries but I am a firm believer in float charging as I replaced my original Yausa battery from my 99 RSV two months ago. It also works with my lawn tractor.

jlh3rd, the 2000mm was a limited edition of the 2000 RSV Millennium making about 1500 of them with 1000 shipped to US. They were a Pearl White color with brown seats.

Seen a set chromed on a 2000 MM at a bike show. Looked good.

I too had a root canal and cap on molar about 4 years ago. ($1100) Had to have it pulled a month ago as it was giving me some pain. Oral Surgeon pulled it and I told him there is $1100 down the drain. He told me that 2/3's of his business is from extracting previous root canals. Any major teeth problems in the future will probably be pulled.

Rod, I use MP3GAIN. Works great and it is free.

I always stop with brakes. Figure it's a lot cheaper replacing brake pads then loading both sides of drive train parts, motor, ect.

If your heading out on vacation and say O I almost forgot to upgrade Garmin to 09 map forget it. Depending when you bought your unit you may be eligible for free upgrade to 09 map or you may just be buying it. Point is, it takes anywhere from 2 to 4+ hours to download depending on your computer. This is also assuming you have high speed internet. Longest download I ever did. I also want to say that if you purchase a Garmin on e-bay or any auction site Garmin will NOT honor warranty. There are some good prices on line and they state full warranty but not true. Garmin states this on warranty paper in box.

Just tell them you don't trust the airline you are flying and wear it when you get on.

Sounds like you have it narrowed down. Been a while since working on 97 but think it is similar to 99. The sending unit is just pulling circuit to ground. If it is three wire connector blk. wire is ground, green wire to gauge and grn/wh wire to low level light. If this is what you have connect ampmeter at battery and remove green wire from connector with connector connected. If no current draw then wire or gauge is shorted. If you still have current draw then it is in low light circuit.

Another plug for Yausa batteries. I have 99 RSV and just replaced original Yausa three weeks ago. I do use battery tender over winter. I have never been a fan of Wal Mart but did look at their bike batteries. They had two brands both distributed by Johnston Controls. Picked up higher priced one named Everstart Gold. Seen same model in car battery and said 3 yr. warranty. Bike battery didn't say warranty so I asked associate and the way I asked him made it amusing. I asked him if this was a good battery? He said yes it is. Then I asked what the warranty was? He said he would check at desk as I opened the box. Came back and said 1 (one) month. HUH? Paper inside box confirmed warranty. Hopefully your battery will last many years. In researching all the bike batteries I found it turns out three manufactures in Taiwan make almost all brand of bike batteries except Oddysey.

I to, have to wonder why the bike was so dirty. I know it is after the fact but a car or motorcycle has to be gone over by owner before leaving lot. Once gone, your word against theirs. Bike in for service I can understand not washing it but new $15000 bike I would sure think so, plain old good business practice. Noticed you wondered about other dealers honoring your warranty. Looks like you might have had other issues with this dealer. Hope this dealer replaces your windshield no charge as warranty won't apply.

Patrick, ignition bypass is found in technical library. Go to 2nd gen & royal star tech library, then to computer, lights, horn, other electrical then to bypass.

AS reading previous post some are concerned where Metzler tire was made and others about age of tire. All Metzler radial tires are made in Germany. All Metzler bias tires are made in Brazil. Only way to get Metzler 880 bias made in Germany would be older stock. As for age of tire or older stock, Avon warrants their tires for 5 years based on date code.

Due to ampere / hour rating and size never charge motorcycle battery with high output charger. Doing so will decrease battery life, heating being one problem. Standard rule for charging is 10% of ampere/hour rating. Venture batteries are rated 18 a/h meaning 1.8 amp charge rate. A 2 amp charger would work fine. Will mention that I think a battery tender is a good thing to use when bike is not used once a week etc. I always use it through the winter. I have a 99 Venture and just replaced original Yuasa battery last week. You can purchase one from Harbor Freight right now on sale for 5.95 way cheaper then the bike store's.

John, not hard. Remove left lower fairing. You will then have access to radiator drain plug. On right side of bike is water pump. You will see chrome pipe coming from front of housing. Below and back a bit you will see another drain plug that looks more like a mounting bolt. This will drain water pump. Install drain plugs and add coolant. Caution, as your notice the radiator plug and radiator are plastic so tighten lightly. That soft rubber washer will give a good seal.

Yamaha Suffers Through Rough 1st Quarter http://z.about.com/d/motorcycles/1/0/2/L/-/-/YamahaLogo.jpg We've reported on Harley not being the only manufacturer that's suffering, and Yamaha's first quarter results reflect more of the same unfortunate, industrywide news. Net income for the Japanese manufacturer dropped 22.2 billion yen (or $213 million) during the first quarter of 2008 according to Bloomberg, a whopping 12% decline. The Bloomberg report quotes a senior analyst who reiterates a theme that has plagued the motorcycle industry as of late: "Demand in the U.S. for the company's products, particularly the leisure-oriented ones, are slumping." Unlike Harley, whose 2008 lineup is heavy (no pun intended) on touring and cruising bikes, the '08 Yamaha lineup is diversfied with everything from supermotos to sportbikes to scooters.

Whats the problem with two year old tire? Ran tires over six years no problem.

jrcajn32, I was going to go with 180/70/15 Metzler which Metzler recommends for their stage 1 upgrade. Was told someone tried it at Honda Hoot and came back shortly with serious rubbing. Read about two folks using 170/80/15 and claimed they worked fine. E-mail them both but never got response. I'm leary about both sizes because if you look there is only about 1/4 to 5/16 in. space between swing arm and stock size. Good Luck
