ruffrider, you would think it could happen with stock size as I only have about 1/4 to 5/16 inch between tire and driveshaft. Just curious if it was Metzler tire because they told me that they tested the 180 on a RSV before they approved it for the stage one mod. Don't look like they did a thorough test.

I never had a problem with mixed brands on a number of bikes. I would never waste money throwing away a good tire. One thing you DON'T want to do is mix bias and radial tire on same bike.

A lot of tire talk lately but have not heard anything about rear tires. I was wondering if anyone has put a 170/80/15 or 180/70/15 on. I'm interested but the clearance is so close to driveshaft on stock size I wonder how they will fit? I have read a number of people have installed the 170's and more interesting Metzler shows the stage 1 upgrade for the RSV to the 180's. My main interest to change is to get whitewalls other then Dunlop 404's. They claim better mileage, smoother ride and handling.

I can't believe this rear tire issue. It's like Yamaha is making the tire. No wonder I see a number of owners are going with auto tire. I didn't even see it listed on Dunlop site. Apparently Bridgestone and Dunlop are OEM suppliers. I don't know what local dealers charge but I checked one of the discount dealers and they get $187 for Bridgestone and $232 for Dunlop. Good Luck

For those that didn't know or don't care Honda Motorcycle USA plant in Marysville, Ohio is closing and moving back to Japan. Brand new plant with some new bikes including another automatic, don't know what size. This past year they made 44,000 VTX and Goldwings. My main reason for the thread is to tell you this will be your last chance to attend the Honda Homecomming July 24-26. The event is unique in that you can tour the bike plant in operation on the 25th or self guided tour on 26th non operational (Saturday) You can see schedule by looking up Honda Homecomming. If you live in or near Ohio it would be a good trip. It's about 35 mi northwest of Columbus

News on a GPS site mentioned that Garmin will put v.9 maps on units in spring. Those folks with current units (v.8) will get a Happy New Year from Garmin as they will upgrade yours for approx. $125.00 Some of you that won't be needing one (for bike) till spring might want to wait.

Nothing to do with accident, but have a friend that had modulator and now has rod in leg from accident. Was at 4way stop and older gentleman pulled out as he did, hit at low speed but severe leg break. Man said biker flashed headlights which was telling me to go. I always think that could happen if your just going down the road and someone pulled out on you. This keeps me from ever having one. Just curious, I have not seen a modulator for almost 3 years since I was in Tenn. when two Goldwings in a group at Honda Hoot had one.

I understan fully your frustration, I know how it feels with the bank issue. I received a $75 rebate years ago, it bounced and I was charged $10. Did fair amount of business with bank went in told them this incident and would not deal with them unless they canceled $10 fee. They did. I don't know what business dealings you have with this bank but $60 ! they don't deserve your business or anyone else. I notice most large banks are going this route. Take Condor's advice.

JC WHITNEY have wide blade Showchrome handles for 18.99 ea. I have a set and they are nice, wide blade has good feel. Seems I paid less but that was a year ago. Eck's post of Cyclegiant parts have Showchrome levers for 14.95 Don't say if they are wide style. I would get the wide levers you will like the feel. Good Luck
