  1. Part number is 76550. It will fit 2005-2008 RSTD. It will not fit Ventures. AL
  2. I like the driver's backrest you made, how much for one? Gonna get the one for the passenger and add one for me when riding solo.

  3. I just listed a new RSTD Mustang seat on Ebay. I took it in for trade on a backrest that I made for another board member. It is for sale cheap because I don't care for the seating position it gives. It pushes you forward about 2 inches farther than the stock seat. The item number is 120279187965. AL
  4. I have owned a Majesty and a Reflex and I still have 2 Helixes. The best for the money is the Majesty but they are all great. The Helix is the smoothest riding but the Majesty is very fast and doesn't cost much more. For my wife I wouldn't consider a Chinese bike because of their lack of reliability. I don't want her sitting alone on a back road with a broken bike. If you consider resale value you will realize that the brand names are cheaper in the long run. AL
  5. Here's a pic of my bike ready for a trip. Note the driver backrest with adjustable lumbar support, tour pak mounted with RSTD brackets and the 3 gallon aux. aluminum fuel tank on the trailer. AL
  6. Leaving on the RSTD Monday for Natchez and riding the Trace to the north end near Nashville to camp for the night. Tuesday we're heading to Cherokee N.C. to ride the back roads in the mountains for 3 or 4 days before heading back to Louisiana. I'm riding with some friends on: Nomad, RSTD, ST1300, Pacific Coast. AL
  7. I tightened mine and pushed down enough so that when I let go they came back up a little but were level. You may need to do this a couple times to get them perfect. Nothing will break because the mounting tab is flimsy and will bend with no problem. AL
  8. I'll post some closeups tonight. It clips on over the bolt that holds the saddlebag guard. AL
  9. Takes about 5 seconds and no tools to remove it if you carry a passenger. Use the passenger as a temporary backrest. AL
  10. You have to carefully grind out the welds that fasten the backrest post to the uprights. You can use the leftover brackets to make a very nice looking and sturdy trunk mount. AL
  11. Here's a pic of a stock RSTD passenger backrest converted to a removable driver backrest. The mounting brackets left over can then be used as a removable trunk mount.
  12. I made reservations at the Edelweiss for 10th-13th. Room 117. I'll be coming from Denham Springs, La. AL
  13. The number stamped on the muffler is 4xy-1. I believe this corresponds to the number for a 1999 RSV according to the service manual posted on this board a 4xy-2 would be a California model. Other years may have different mufflers. AL
  14. I was just curious but I don't see a practical way to open up a large chamber that would be needed for a deeper tone. I haven't heard any of our bikes with modified mufflers but I would suspect that they are louder but without the deep mellow tone that I like. My stock mufflers have the perfect tone but I wouldn't mind a little more decibels. If I ever modify my mufflers I will attack the inside of the chamber that has the wire mesh and get the fiberglas packing out. AL
  15. I opened up an RSV muffler and posted some pics in the picture forum. This may help anyone thinking of drilling baffles. AL GUY
