  1. You have the characteristics of a master street rider. On the way to work, your love for riding sometimes leads you to take the long way. The 50-miles-of-back-roads long way. You live for the perfect road, and plan vacations around riding. You need a bike that can handle your addiction to the twisties as well as comfortably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains. Your bike is the FJR1300. Can I borrow it someday? Not a bad review, but I'll stick with my RSV, thanks!
  2. The Poll should have had: There is little or no whine. I have a 99 and there is very little evidence of a whine and only when up around 120 K/hr.
  3. I have found that running 0 psi in front and 45/50 in the rear really helps with the slow speed movements. I got my pump from my HD dealer, it was $49.99.
  4. Our best wishes and prayers are with you Big Bob. Thank you Joanne for the update, Susie and I were so happy to here that Big Bob has come around, you know, you can't keep a Yammie rider down for very long. Get well soon my friend, Susie and I only have a short few years left to retirement and we are both looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang in the future on our travels! Susie sends X's and O's....
  5. I always use compressed air to blow the small rocks and dust out of the wells before I remove the plugs. You can use a compressor or a can of Computer air duster.
  6. Don't worry about the top heavy low speed stuff. This bike is exceptional! Go out and get one, it will take you a couple of rides to get use to it but it's not bad at all. You have to remember that you are buying a Touring Bike, this is NOT a Cruser or a Sport Bike. I think it is more of getting use to a "BIGGER" bike rather then anything else. I am 6'-0" so not concerned with the seat height. What I have done to my RSV is inflate the rear shock to 45PSI and run without air in the front shocks. It really works about the same as the leveling brackets. Hope this helps.....
  7. This do NOT sound good!!! Ol' Bubba of the Popes of Hell MC
  8. Bummer, I have got to agree with you! I have owned a couple of larger Sport Bikes and, even though I've only owned my RSV for about 2 months, it drives alot like a sport bike. By that I mean, the power band of this V4 is MUCH higher then my last bike (Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic). I do hear the chirp and the whine at lower RPMs but not so much when the bike is running through or "in" the power band. It took me about 1000 miles to relize that I was back to driving (like you said) "a sport bike engine wrapped around a Touring Bike". I had a choice between a 2001 Goldwing and my 99 RSV I am SO glad I picked the RSV. It's a real pleaseure to ride! Like you Bummer It's just my 2 cents....
  9. Hi Everyone! This looks really nice. However, for those of you who are handy, I've had my own homemade for sometime now. I used a large black makeup bag with inside pouches and installed it on the inside screws that hold the trunck rack down. I put larger washers on the inside of the bag to hold it securly. It only cost about $15.00 from WallyMart. Cheers! Newfie Bill 99 RSV Paradise, NL
  10. I use mine all the time, when I go into places like the local Mall or at work I turn off the fuel petcock. Those pesky kids love to turn the throtte on BIG bikes... Vrrrrm Vrrrm. Newfie Bill Paradise, NL 99 RSV
  11. I always wear 1/2 helmut around town and full face on highway trips. We always vacation in St. Pete's area, and this year we rented a Harley. I did ride a bit on Gulf Blvd. without for a while, loved it actually. However, it was just a half hour treat. PS, Did not like the Harley at all, it was HOT, LOUD and drove like a TANK. Sorry Harley owners (just an opinion). Cheers, Newfie Bill Paradise, NL 99 RSV
  12. Hi Everyone..., I have always shiffed down through the gears when stopping. I was looking through my manual over the weekend and I'm sure I read that you down shift through the gears all the same time just before comming to a stop. What do everyone else do? Newfie Bill Paradise, NL 99 RSV
  13. Hi Guys & Gals, I highly recommend the course to all people learing to Ride. I was one of the staff who delivered the Canadian version "Gearing Up" by the Newfopundland Safety Council in Newfoundland, Canada from 1992 to 1996. Excellent Course, Excellent Knowledge! 14. I had the same solution to my wobble on the 99 as RoadKill. Used the quick screwdriver and rubber mallet procedure and tightened the steering head bolts. Perfect fix, no wobble at any speed. BTW, I changed out to the Avon Tires last year. Newfie Bill 1999 Royal Star Venture Newfoundland, Canada
