  1. Bob, mine is a '93 on the audio control. Don H.
  2. Yesterday about 11:30 while going west on I-10 thru Houston I saw someone with a Midnight RSV on a trailer. The car towing it had Alabama plates. Any one of us??? Don H.
  3. I am wondering if it is possible to take the taillight and add reflective material inside the light housing and if possible would it make the light appear brighter to people following me?? Any thoughts? Don H.
  4. Bob, do you have the audio control that mounts on the left handle bar? If so, how much shipped to 77082, Houston TX.? Don H.
  5. Finished up my chemo treatments yesterday!!! Now just have to finish up the radiation which will be on Tuesday of next week. Then will be done!!!!:big-grin-emoticon::dancefool: Don H.
  6. Bump!! Just wanted to get this back to top cause cooler temps are starting all over. Don H.
  7. Andrew, Skydoc mentioned a sensor for the rear brake resivoir. This sensor can go bad and give false readings, i.e. flashing/solid red light on computer monitor. The guy that I bought my '93 said that if that is the case and you feel comfortable doing this, you can bypass the sensor easily. Under the seat on the right side there are a siamesed pair of wires going to a connector. At the connector disconnect them and make a "u-turn" back into the connector and the light won't come on again. You have basiclly disconnected the wires coming from the resivoir and completed the circut by making the "u-turn". The reason I believe this is the guy that I bought the bike from has been a Venture mech since they came out in '83 and knows the Venture inside out upside down, etc. As I said, if you feel comfortable doing this it can be easily done. Don H.
  8. think I started floating the valves, didn't sound or feel like a rev limiter. Didn't seem to hurt it any, ran fine today. Didn't take it up over 5000 in any gear today tho. Don H.
  9. mtman, there is a bushing in the clutch lever that will wear over time. When this happens it allows play to develop in the clutch lever. When riding and trying to set the cruise, the wind will push the lever back effectively disengaging the cruise which is what happens when you pull back on the clutch lever. I think you can still get that bushing from Yamaha. Hope this helps. Don H.
  10. Dave, thanks for the tip on the power interuption. Yesterday, had bike at work and tried to start it and it wouldn't start. Started checking things and found the ground on the battery was loose. Tightened ground and it started, guess you diagnosed problem from far away. Anyhow, will have to reset presets and see what happens. Thanks again. Don H.
  11. The other day I wasn't really paying attention and was getting on a freeway. Normally will go almost to redline (7500 rpm) then shift. Well, wound it up and it started to "nose over". Never had this happen before, so looked at tach and it was almost to 9700 rpm!!! Now know how tight it will wind if I have to go there again.
  12. The last 2 times I have been on bike and had the radio on, it would drop to 89.7 FM from 107.5 FM by itself. Cannot be able to use preset to get back to 107.5. When I hit preset, it goes to 107.9, then have to use step down button to get back to 107.5. Early this summer took connections apart on sound system, used eletric spray cleaner and then put dieletric grease on all connections. Haven't had any problems up until now. Any ideas?? Don H.
  13. Here in Houston we get monsoon like rains occasionally and what I see are white, gray, black, dark blue cars with no lights on and they are impossible to see in the fog that forms because of the flow of traffic on the freeways. You really have to look to see them. What I don't understand is how dumb some people are. Don H.
  14. yeah I know it's not a Venture. A friend of mine passed this along to me to see if I knew anyone who might be interested in something like this. 1998 Honda ST1100 with less than 19000 miles, new tires, shaft drive, cruise control, fairing, bike cover, hasn't been ridden in 1 1/2 yrs. Corbin leather seat with fold down back rest, new original seat, service manual. Batt. is down, (bad??), buy as is. Price several months ago was $3500. Don't know if that is negotiable or not. The bike is in Victoria, Tx. if interested let me know and I will shoot a P.M. with owners ph. no. Other than what is posted, I have not seen bike or know anything about it. Don H.
  15. Yesterday we went for a short ride. I noticed that I would feel what I call "hard bumps" from the rear of the bike that I didn't feel from the front. Almost like I would run over something with the front tire and not feel it, but would feel it from the rear of the bike. I had 70 lbs. in the rear shock and the rebound is set on #2. Is it possible for the shock to be bad and still have that much air press. in it? I haven't been riding much this summer but seem to remember one other time that this happened, but upon checking the air press. then it was down between 40-50 lbs. and it went away when I increased the press. Haven't noticed any oil under the bike in the shock area, but haven't gotten down and really looked. Any info, help will be appreciated. Don H.
  16. As JB said in first post, we are fine with no damage. It is now Wed. 11:30 A.M. and people still can't get back on Galveston Island. The devastation there and on Bolivar Peninsula are unbelievable! Houses completely gone, nothing left, no debris or anything. I think people can get into downtown Houston now, but there was a lot of damage in the downtown area. The Chase Bank building which is the tallest building in Houston at 75 stories had 44 floors of windows broken out on the east side of the building. Other buildings had similar damage but not on the same percentage. Lot of roofs tore up, and limbs down, power lines down, etc. We live on the west side of Houston about 20 miles from downtown and we were fortunate that we were on what is called the "clean side of the storm" which is the northwest corner as the storm spins counterclock wise. The northeast corner is the bad, or "dirty" side. So, we were blessed and suffered very little if anything to what some people are going thru. Don H.
  17. I will be praying for a complete and quick recovery for Big Bob. Don H.
  18. Stopped at a local dealer today and was asking about the new Max. Salesman said only 2500 will be made, and if you want one it has to be ordered with a deposit. Said there will be none sitting on the showroom floor. Aslo, they, this dealer, are putting a fairing and hard bags on the new Road Stars. Said they are the only ones doing that that they know of. Sure gives it a different look. Bags don't look like they will hold much, kinda narrow. Fairing kinda looks like a Harley bat-wing type, except the light is real low in the fairing. BTW, wife and I actually rode about 30 miles yesterday!!!! Don H.
  19. Master Guns, first thanks for your service. Secondly, my '93 whines like a banshee on deceleration. The guy I bought it from has been a Venture mech. since they were first produced in '83 and he said the whine is from the mating surface of the gear teeth not being finished as good as it should have been and that is what is causing the whine. He also said that this is not a problem. We have put several thousand miles on since purchasing it in '05 and haven't had a problem, and this includs a trip from Houston to Deal's Gap and back in '06. Don H.
  20. already have a standing appointment on Sun. mornings. Have a good time. Am doing well, chemo is doing it's thing and things are progressing well. Say hi to all. Don H.
  21. I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. It amazes me that people that I have never met take time out of their lives to think kind thoughts and pray for me. This place is truly a family in so many ways that I am humbled to be part of it. If there is anything that I can do for anyone of you, please let me know. Again thank each and everyone of you. Don H.
  22. Just saw Dr. this week after cat scan. Results show tumor is shrinking and starting to break up. Dr. still wants 2 more heavy chemo sessions so go in for one tomorrow. Still asking for prayers for complete recovery. Keep 'em coming. Don H.
  23. As others have said, it's not about us, but it's about the honoring the fallen HERO, and comforting thier families. It is a very humbling and emotional ride. Just go and make up your own mind if you want to do it. I am not trying to talk you out of it, it can be a very trying and emotional time, but the feelings you feel during and afterward can not be described, at least by me. I have been a member about 2 yrs. and have been on 4-5 rides. As somebody else mentioned, there is not enough time to do all of the rides. You do not have to be a vet, or pay any dues. Just show up and "STAND TALL FOR THOSE WHO STOOD FOR US." Don H.
  24. Congrats!!! Linda and I wish the both of you many happy years together. Hope to see you sometime this late summer. Don and Linda
