~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I believe that 10 bux were worth every cent. sometimes you can cut the chase. better than a dollar waiting on a dime.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think the chart is conservative. when wanting to, i stretch that chart like many folks here do. If i have long flat runs, i will use 5th at 65 just for cruisin and gas savings. other than that i won't hit 5th till after 70. these comments are for one up. 2 up is different. we need the rev's up.

it is possible that the carbs are just now going out of sync. if so, your milage will worsen and performance will suffer. that's what i experienced. there may be more, but i won't know. after my sync, performance went up with milage and popping quit.

it was just my imagination running away with me. Each day, through my windshield, I watch as the road passes by. I say to myself, "You're such a lucky guy." To have a bike like her is truly a dream come true. Out of all of the yammys in the world she belongs to me... But it was just my imagination . . . running away with me. It was just my imagination running away with me... Every night, on my knees I pray, "Dear Lord, hear my plea... don't ever let a cager wreck and take my bike from me or I will surely die.." Ooh, 4 cylnders are heavenly; when the Revs unfold before me, I hear a tender rhapsody... but in reality, she may need a carb sync from me But it was just my imagination -- once again -- running away with me. I tell you it was just my imagination running away with me...

well, now you have me scratchin my head. come to think, it seems like when the motor gets warm, my left leg gets warm first. my right leg does not get as warm. it could be my imagination running away with me. welcome to the site! you will find lots of info, as others have said. we hope you hang around. there is a search function, and as said, to search on the i basket. there is a lot of reading to do on the whine. that way you won't have to wait for others to chime in. once you have read up, you can come back with more wisdom and better questions. Just for the sake of repeating again, the search button is in the top menu, lower bar, right side. don't be afraid to ask. I know i have bent everyone's eyes crossed with my shifting problem.

i have zipped up to 11o easily several times with no problems. check your bike for what other members are sayin to check. you may have had a lucky encounter that spoke volumes of maintenance words. it will save you on your next ride. problems with my shifter taught me that. I am glad you did not go down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i had to fiddle with my shifting problem for weeks until i brought it a maint day in Texas where my issue was found and fixed. it may take some time, but keep trying. and go back over some previous stuff. i missed a step on check my shifter thinking it was ok when it was the problem. good luck. please post when u find the issue and fix.
Hey, Slab - part of the introduction to this site reads (and I quote by copy and paste) - we have members who ride many different makes and models. All are welcome. you don't have to leave, someone may have a bike like your new one and could help. or just hang around and read jokes. cruise by now and again.
If you are gonna ride a venture (1st or 2nd), you either need money and a dealer who likes you OR put you money in tools and get to learnin' your bike. i have had to add to my tools and knowledge cause i don't want to spend my time waiting on the stealer to call and say "come get yer bike, the note is due on my Lexus" just kidding about the lexus part, but an out of warranty bike can cost quite a bit when trouble starts.
well, that one is a stumper for me. If it were me, i would have to make the time and start taking the bike semi apart and start looking for a wire that is now bare but only touches long enough to drain the battery. that is all that comes to mind from threads i have read. hopefully someone else will post with other advice. for the short term, you might consider a battery cut off switch for the time you are dismounted. for the problem of drain while riding, that points to not charging by the on board charger system. do a search on that to check that out.
we all play the odds and we each have our thoughts of what odds we will play / not play. wear what you will. i don't like the thought of my chin grinding away on roadway material, so i wear FF. field sheer textile jacket with armor - 100 % field sheer textile pants with armor - 20% ankle high lace up boots - 95% basic tennis shoes - 5% basic denim blue jeans - 80% FF modular flip up helmet - 100% leather gloves - 100% I want to get some chaps to go over my jeans, i just have not bought any - yet.
I, too, must say thanks. Again. i have gotten so much done on my bike that would have been more time consuming or frustrating and costly if it weren't for members contributing knowledge. going to maint day meetings is another wonderful thing about belonging to this club. I can't say enough about those who host the event, members who assist others with lodging and the mechanics who make round after round to bike after bike helping get things done. the food and cooks are not to be left out either. yum yum.
i am a fairly new RSV owner but not new to battery issues on bikes, ATV's or lawn mowers. i have read several threads where this occurs. i am going to assume you are talking about an abnormal drain on the battery above the normal AM/FM radio drain to keep the presets programmed and other settings active. I do use a battery tender type of charger, so i don't have rundown from the normal drain. start undoing a wire at a time till you find what's draining the battery. You have not mentioned if you have add on electrical equipment that stays on the bike once you turn off the scooter. GPS or satellite radio left on the bike will drain as well. it could be a process of elimination to find the draining source. it may sound simple, but until you eliminate the simple stuff, you may not know a piece of the puzzle.
I wish we were there. then i would not be at work. have fun.
Man, what a burden Squidley took off my shoulders. for the TX maint day, my bike was 2nd to be started on and 2nd to last to ride off. everything was seemingly checked. the clutch fluid was thought to the culprit. after the scooter was back together, a test ride showed the same problem. Squid took a ride and came back with a very good notion of the problem. Eck had a similar problem and mine was nearly the same. the shifter knuckle was seizing and not allowing the shifter to follow the foot. you could fiddle with it but while driving this is not a good thing. the seizing was caused by heavy grease mixed with dirt from my gravel road and the bike sitting up while waiting for the rear tire change. daily driving previous to sitting up kept the knuckle just loose enough not to be a problem. Squidley looked me square in the eye and said "you will add this to your annual maintenance list!" this was my first maintenance day and boy was it a good time. I have to thank James for giving me a place to camp for the night, Kreg and Janet for hosting this gig and Squidley for keeping me on the road. I thank everyone who gave advice on what my problem could have been and I look forward to being able to help out others at maint days as well as work on my own. It was a good group meet and fun to put faces to names. until next time - ride safe to all.
i ran some plus and premium gas just to see if there was difference. would run 2 tanks of each just so i would run out what was left of the previous tank. i found 3 things: #1. there was no difference in performance for my scooter no matter how i drove it. #2. i spent needless money cause most folks said to run regular. #3. i run regular. if i stop somewhere with 10% whatever, no difference either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I suggest you run the same test.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Seafoam is one of the 2 fuel additives that a lot of members use in the gas tank. do a venture rider search on seafoam and then a google search. your bike will be better for it.

it is said that a bike is as fast as its slowest link. you first genner's are always saying the 2nd gens are slower than the 1st gens. now you go and put a 2nd gen tranny into a 1st gen case. i guess you just want hang out back with us, that is so nice. good to have you back here!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i don't ride every week during winter, but the above is what i do. those of us being south enough, don't have the winterizing farther north members have to do.
