  1. well, that's life in the country. we have snakes all the time. we have had one in the attic since we bought the house and left it alone as it kept the mouse population under control. we find one or two a yr in the house some where. on the porch - in the chicken yard, we teach the grandkids and their moms what kind o snake it is. the non poisonous we keep alive and the poisonous ones are dead for show n tell. in south central louisiana we have a lot of both. thousands of acres of rice fields all around us keep nature brewing.
  2. I am glad that I had seen a place to stop named dairy queen with treats of cream and with where have I been . . . .
  3. Ruffy said "Now, that little bit of background being said, there should be a list of do's and dont's when either buying or selling something in the classifieds." I see a lot of us have a story of a transaction that went bad in some way, but it is the buyer who "generally" gets the poor end of it unless the seller makes a mistake and charges/accepts less money for whatever reason. we are not talking about any deal that goes as it should, but deals gone bad. Ruffy is looking for suggestions on how to improve transactional success and make those a part of our process. any suggestions that become part of the classified sales process make "rules" that we are supposed to abide by. we would be creating rules for the majority because of the minority. there seems to be no easy way of handling this and we would have to have Don on board. how is a rule adopted anyway? is there a vote process or does Don say yea or nay? there are no shareholders here that I know of, so this appears to be a sole proprietership and Don would have to adopt rules if I am on the right track. would moderators be expected to enforce sales rules? are there any other suggestions other than those posted so far? What are your thoughts on the currently suggested do or don't methods? If any suggestion is adopted, all members would be expected to abide by that, so would there be a penalty for clearly found out rule breakers? we know there will be a rule breakers because rule breakers are the reason for this thread.
  4. one post said we guys dont' take hints so hit us with a direct request - that is true. now if hubby doesn't take you then - I see 3 results - one) be ok with not riding and have that brewing inside, no matter how small the pot, or two) get your own ride. and 3) ride with someone else. but that can be a drag cuz we want to be with our spouse - so it can be bitter sweet. just a few weeks ago we bought lady massey her own ride. it is the 2000 zuki 800 intruder I have a post on. all that is to be done is the safety class and license endorsement. she doesn't mind riding with me, but it's the watch the back of my helmet thing plus she likes to ride. time is one of our issues, so we ride when we can. also watching ride like a pro, females can learn to ride the big bikes, just got to do it.
  5. put his harley up for sale knowing the future brought something new and exciting besides shrimping after seeing a new motorcycle in his dream that took him into the . . . .
  6. I'll be at work, so I won't make it there, but thanks for the invite.
  7. dairy queen where the counter person said there is no pay phone but there are some venture riders in the meeting booth who have tools that you may . . . .
  8. maybe we can make it a VR club only rule the buyer sends half the agreed on price, the seller sends the item, then the buyer sends the second half of the money. this won't work for a full bike sale, but for a lot of stuff, it may work. that way both parties are at risk.
  9. thanks, it will be shine -ee-er when we can clean it up. lots of rust on the chrome and corrosion elsewhere. dirt on the paint - that kind of thing. been riding it dirty. too much to do n not enuf hours in a month.
  10. so, it is not just me. I took off the front left blinker lens a week ago cause of this. I now have to watch that one glitch. you can learn to make that work for you.
  11. prayers are said and ditto with others on fair weather.
  12. maybe they are order parts for her scooter and can't quite decide what exactly to get or where to get them from. shirley there are parts needed after her crash. where was the X/B/F after the crash anyway n why was he eggin her out o' her comfert zone? that's a danger waiting in the dark - seems to me.
  13. new members with pink chaps, but instead they were . . .
  14. If it looks any better than the last pic, it is very nice.
  15. the cassete player is in the saddle bag. I was thinkin bout blue toot player. any body know if they hook up to the RSV audio cable?
  16. prayers have been said. take care of all.
  17. while some folks don't like the Dun 404 for the RSV, I had a set that come on it and seemed fine. good mileage too. I will look at the tread pattern again and compare to the Mich commander II - about a hundred or so bucks rear and a bit less on front w/free shippin.
  18. yea, we need to. I still need to clean my RSV carbs, but until Debbie gets her endorsememt, I am riding the 800. we do need tires for it - any ideas - I looked at the Mich commanders - seem ok enough
  19. a few weeks ago a friend of ours who has/had a 2000 zuki 800 intruder decided to sell. Deb was talking to her friend when she mentioned it was for sale and a couple potential buyers were looking. we talked and then made a higher offer that was comfortable for both us and our friend. she knew we like the bike and we were the highest bid - so the deal was struck. Debbie has an Intruder and I have the RSV. I put in a new battery and drained the tank. put in fresh gas w/sea foam and it cranked right up and I went for a ride. it is cold natured but it is a fun bike. It feels like a toy after riding the RSV, but it is responsive and fun. I scraped the left peg - I did not realize I was that far over but it was fun. we are the 2nd owners and we just hit the 5 thousand mile mark on it.
  20. this is a great situation. friendships and helping people. that is one thing I like about this club.
  21. Lady Massey and I send our prayers for healing and inner peace.
  22. I don't know if it is the same clip, but i see a venture w/2up in other commercials. did the original folks sell the footage?
  23. I have thought about the same thing. before actually doing this, it is just a design thought with no doin it to see. so, my thought was to cut a board (lined bottom for bike protection) that is wide and long. drilled holes on each side to be tied to the rear passenger hand rails and/or rear trunk bracket. from there build as necessary for your equipment. how wide/deep depends on board material and skill at cutting out front/rear seat lines. plywood makes a good choice, but I have much log sawn wood so my choices are a bit wider than some, maybe less than others, but we all have our special niches.\ I have seen the hitch mounted boxes that I have liked, but I haven't reached the need to go there.
  24. I bet a 400 - 500 dollar cordless drill and saw kit will strap on the back. marketers are up on their job these days when it comes to getting customers coming to the store.
  25. I have a light bar with the driving lights and signal lights. the previous owner put this on, so I don't know. it may be early in the day to get the answer you need. bump your thread later around 5 - 7 PM
