  1. I don't look at it that much, but I do note idle is about 950 RPM and 5th gear @ 70 MPH is about 3200 RPM. between watching traffic and scenery, my tach is mostly ignored.
  2. you are so right about stuff like that happening in the garage and not on the road. good Lord looks out for us more often than we think.
  3. that product looks interesting. with my riding, i am not far from a gas stop, so this wouldn't do me much good. although it would be nice to have just in case i wanted to go some back roads.
  4. I had my poor week last week. i am looking forward to a better week coming. ditto on health and being alive.
  5. there is a lot of truth in the concept. I say this as in the I.T. field, we deal with antenna's for satelite and directional wireless data. the connections outside are finished with a "tape" that does the same thing that mighty fixit claims. is their product as good as the commercial "tape" that (amalgums) or seals to itself and forms a waterproof bond? only seeing it in use will tell. they don't tell you the pressure thresh hold either. the info mercial did not put it on a car with a leaky hose. they only showed a radiator hose with fixit tape already applied after the fact. I would need more solid info. the shipping is 6 bux, by the way. for ordinary uses, i would get some, but it needs to be local. I don't want to order.
  6. we have not had any snow here, so no sno pics.
  7. what better to wrap a cupcake in than a nice blanket. how app-ra-poh
  8. Good luck is with you as prayers have been sent. may your path find you in better places.
  9. since my birthday is the day before Valentine day, i could ask for the left one for my Bday and right one for Vday. then it's only 31.50 per event. Yep, that's how it is gonna go down I tell ya. just wait a couple months and see what I post.
  10. is it just me that thinks that 63.00 dollars is high for thesw gas tank grommet covers. I know business folks need to make a profit, but meeza-thinks this is hiway rubbery. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-BILLET-FUEL-TANK-MOUNT-COVERS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414b105f45QQitemZ280432238405QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories http://i.ebayimg.com/19/!Bgdvd5QB2k~$(KGrHqEOKkUEryhRc-oWBLFZC63QGw~~_12.JPG
  11. oh man, what a realization with only half a second to decide what to do. on the opposite end, sumer time, we are 2 up making the last turn off tar onto gravel headin to the house down a bit. yea the graders were here a few days ago, then as I am in the middle of the left turn we hit a deep loose spot. down goes the foot to ease us over to harder ground and straining to keep us upright. that 3 foot stretch was a mini eterninty wondering if we were heading to repari city. my legs and arms ached for a day or so, but we stayed up. another time, it had been raining, so what, right, things are dry now. as we (2up) are home and approaching the garage with the door down, I apply brakes, we are not slowing down. deb says put on the brakes. my teeth are gritting down so hard i can't tell her they are on. we slide to a stop just an inch or so in front of the door. we get off and she is fixing to read me the "RIGHT" act. I point to the ground where the skids are in the soft wet dirt and say the brakes were on. keeping alert is all we can do except thank the Lord when he reaches down and takes care of something we missed.
  12. I hope all goes well for them. the event had closed according to the link provided. prayers sent.
  13. Happy Anniversary, Mr n Mrs Kregger.
  14. that would be the coming Sunday.
  15. that was nice. thanks for the post.
  16. I usually ride with all the above post options and concerns in mind. terrain, distance w/time and 2 up riding helps dictate how we ride. southern Louisiana is fairly flat, so doing 65 - 78 on the slab in 5th is no problem. around toledo bend reservoir i ride in 3rd and 4th.
  17. Ok everyone, we have a winner. the fat/larger side of the grommet goes to the inside. I will hopefully take care of this tonight. I appreciate everyone chiming in and those who provided mental support. I just may get a ride in this evening if all goes well. let's close this thread and move on.
  18. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ kj5six - M61A1MECH took a photo of his gas tank grommet and it shows the thick end to the inside. I will install them this way and see how it goes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ take a look at his post - See my post using the link below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...d=1#post543086 Hope it helps.
