  1. What a shame and sadful thing all the way around. judging by the looks, that person seems fairly young and I bet that is his parents in the picture. you never know how things are going to go down every morning when you wake up. lets just ride safe and teach our children well.
  2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Move damit, move. what the hell?????? get out there, now!!!! what's happening? look behind you - idiot -now move!!!! oh, my Lord, there goes the neighborhood. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ that should be close to anything else that might be said.
  3. I do excersize some common sense, though. we live in the country and have black widows and the brown recluse. with 4 little curious grandkids, there are those spiders that don't live past "I see you, do you see me?"
  4. It is always nice when something comes together. Enjoy the scooter and always remember how you got it. very nice story on how it came about. just ride safe and keep it shiny.

    back rest

is it possible for a fabricator to use a picture and make one?
  6. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ that's what i would say when friends would come over. didn't get much company - but that was ok cuz i went to my friend's places for meets n eats. my place stayed clean.
  7. I used to keep tarantula's. I had 4 or 5 at one time. time became an issue so I began giving them to the kid's schools along with the information and paraphenalia / cages. it was fun and i do miss keeping them. I used to have boas also. nature is so entertaining and entrigueing. got my start in boy scouts. time, just need more time.
  8. I had the 404's on our 04 RSV when we bought it. they were ok. not the greatest, but not the worst. you will get used to how the feel. they wear well. once you learn how to drive them, no problem. you need a bit of extra room. at least you are on the road and riding.
  9. prayers said for all.
  10. my initial impression was a "not for me" feeling. it may take a couple folks to try them out and i see a few pictures of 2nd gen ventures with them to help me see them differently. but right now, i would not buy any for my scooter.
  11. If you do the above mentioned items, that is a great start, but i wanted a cover as well. I shopped ebay for covers as it seems quite a few vendors sell there. I picked out the 3 that caught my eye and then googeled all of them. I wound up with a Champion cover and it came with a lock and cable. it also had the bungee cords for keeping the cover on the bike. it had the all around re-enforced lower part for heat protection. it has a soft liner for the windshield. it has 2 covered spot with vents for breathing. nice nylon kind of material. it folds up and fits in a nifty bag that it about the size of an overgrown thermos. also is the elastic band in the bottom so it does hold tight to the bike. I let the bike cool down before i put the cover on just to make the heat part last. paid about 35 bux includin shipment
  12. that was a stroke of genius, got to admit the contractor was ingenious.
  13. you are lucky that the contractor owned up and ponied up. good on ya.
  14. when the time is right, you will get a go box with your meal.
  15. boomer, it would be nicer if you said "SOME GEEKS". we geeks know there are bad geeks, but I am not one of them. If I worked for your cable company, your cable services would work. just wait till i train dem pygmies to use a computer!!!
  16. your scam alert should be beeping very loud. ask if you can go and see the bike. ask for an address. you will get a run a round answer if any answer at all.
  17. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I like the antennae's. use the search button in the top menu bar and see the different options and how to do them as well as where to buy the necessary components. there are many combinations for the antennae issue. don't rule out your CB radio yet, you never know when you will use channel 29.
  18. when I bought our 04 RSV, it was already lowered in thre rear with links and the forks were adjusted to follow. that is a good thing because I am short as well. my caliper is in its factory position and i have not had any trouble with handling other than what is my fault. I have not found any negative effects with the lowering that was done to our scooter. I do tend to scrape the floorboards sooner than a non lowered bike but that is really not a problem.
  19. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I thought it looked fresh. If mine is like that, i see no need for the flush. maybe just change the oil a bit sooner. I go 3 to 4 thou miles between changes.
  20. I am in a similar situation. the previous owner had put 404 on and were there when we bought it. since I had not ridden in a long time, i really did not know the difference. then i had a slow leak to flat on the rear and put on the E3. the front 404 still has tread, so i will run it down and put an E3 on it. I like the difference the E3 had for the back and want to put the slimmer E3 on the front. If the economy was better, i might have changed the front, but i will just wear it out.
  21. At least you have found the problem and have a solution. it is better than having something serious happen. I can see a trike in our future and I am paying attention to these threads. thanks for posting and more than that - I am glad you found this.
  22. I mainly use it when buying something from someone and want to start fresh with my own maintenance. on my 4 wheeler, though, i do ignore oil changes since i don't really use it much and a long time can go between oil change. I am really just thinking out loud and appreciate the input. I like to get on and ride or drive and time spent taking care of stuff can help prevent the "Uh-Oh" saying when u have a problem.
  23. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was thinking rather than old oil holding "stuff" that my be bad for the motor sit in the pan to be mixed in the new oil, the flush would pick up some more of it to be gotten rid of. having flush fluid with thinned out left over oil may be better than just old oil with "stuff". I see the comment that little area may be there as a trap for solid to settle in from the oil flow. kind of like the vortex in air lines to help spin out water. just thinkin of a way to keep it clean and full. my wife says i read too much into things sometimes. maybe this is one of those times.
  24. I have also tried to just let the scooter sit dripping for ever, but the oil change has to be completed some time, so after a couple of hours, i button it up and fill. that's when the flush thing occurred to me.
  25. I have noticed a similar issue. I believe there is that much oil hanging around where ever oil can hang onto and not drip down to the drain plug. I think i will use a flush next time just to grab all the oil and then fill with new after draining the flush stuff. I use an AMS flush on other stuff, should be ok for the RSV 04.
