  1. 2 Cents worth.....Just changed out my Dunlop 404 (rear tire mounted backwards) with 16700 miles. Looked new...But...beginning to cup a bit. Noticed it real bad above 85. I've tried all the rest and with the rake I have (E-Z-Steer) the Dunlop is best for me...Bit pricy...but it works....(Beats Bridgestones shot at 6000 miles).
  2. Bobcat: Haven't read all the forum on this subject...(getting carried away?) But I've found the part number of the 9" shiled I have stored: STR-4XY 02-20-00. Send a message to DragonRider1941 at yahoo and I'll help you ifn you haven't found one yet.... Regards....Bob D. P.S. Anyone know if there is a chrome (or metal) speaker cover for the back seat? Seems my back seat bag has damamge the plastic cover...Ifn one's not available I'll make one..plastic is too fragile....
  3. Need a hand...Front speakers are shot...reading all the old comments I can find it seems the ideal replacement speakers are POLK 107DB400's...Now out of production and replaced with DB401's...Looking at the 401 speaker there are only 2 "Ears" for mounting..will this hold up? Also read a comment on MTX speakers...any help on the model/part number of these speakers? I'm sort of hard of hearing to begin with and have to turn up the volume on the Interstates...Any help? Appreciate..
  4. I too have a 9" low windshield as a spare....good deal ifn you don't take 5the other one...private message to le me know...Regards, bob D
  5. I too have a RSMV/Tri wing trike..Originally had Baron risers, but found things like the Tail of the Dragon and across the US got to be hard work at times....E-Z Steer Rake kit added and it became a dream machine...But comfort was difficult as I lost the risers (wouldn't fit under the fairing with stock bars...) Changed to Flanders bars with a 6" pull back over stock...Of course new cables and such...30,000 later I love it, no arm/shoulder aches, power steering and $$ was worth it.....Now ifn I could just a windshied sorted (soon on #3) to get the wind off the back of my neck (gap between helmet and jacket) I'd be a real long distance runner...only do 600 a day now...But...New clearview XL GT glass is in route the barn....
  6. Hotrod: As I'm just east of you, I know the feeling of wanting winter gloves..Next ride (cold or wet) I've got some winter gloves from Cabelas that will be under test...They say insulated and waterproof..(we'll see)..Know after last winter when it was 19 here for several days I needed help...Rubber kitchen gloves will keep your hands dry (don't get pink) but I'm here to tell you, they are cold!..These don't work I guess I'll get off the wallet and buy heated ones
  7. Rick: I'm in Lake City Florida (40 miles south of Ga.) on I-75...six acres..easy access 10 miles to I-75 and I-10...Have had the boys from Canada leave truck and trailer...stored some guns...Drop a line....I'm sort of house bound with a medical problem so I'll be home....Might take a day to answer, your call....Ride safe...
  8. Bummer: Thank you!!! Read you bottom line, I like it....I ride a RSMV/Trike...and as anyone one can see...Wings and H.D.s are the rage....Maybe (tongue in cheek) we are like the real cars on the road....I am partial to Bently's and the odd Roller...Ride safe....
  9. Roadkill: I'm three hours from the port...have a gun safe...Have stored trucks and trailers..why not a weapon? Reply...DragonRider1941 at yahoo....Bob D.,
  10. yes, I seen the commercial today...First time...but then I'm not much into the box these days....will try to catch it again.....
  11. Well...2cents worth.....interesting run...Moscow must have good drivers/rules...each cage/truck used turn signals, had brake lights, and lane control...He'd last about 10 minutes in Florida....no rules, do as you please, turn signals and brake lights are optional equipment....
  12. CAUTION: Maybe it's just me.....But...while I was trying to find the solution to the vibration problem mentioned before (ie rear tire mounted backwards on the front of the trike) I found a serious problem. This was the second time... Bolts that secure the swingarm driveshaft housing to the rear trike assembly were missing!!! Well two of the four bolts were gone....With driveshaft assy loose vibration is a problem. I've had this problem before and the bolts were secured using nylock nuts and LocTite..This time I've installed Grade 8 bolts, Grade 8 nylock nuts and lock washers. This will now be pretty much a preflight check item...2- 9/16" wrenchs in the helmet so I don't forget.... Local road test was good, but Interstate will be used soonest to check high speed vibs..
  13. Well...I said I'd get back to you...just a bit slow...I triked my RSMV and had a new Bridgestone on the front..14,000 miles later it was shot (began to cup pretty bad) ...Had a new one installed and...installed the E-Z Steer triple tree to extend the front end..Like better than power steering....6,000 miles later....tire was shot.....not the best deal for me, just couldn't face a new tire every 6K...I've now got a Dunlop rear tire, mounted backwards, and with 12,000 miles it hardly shows wear...But it has made a bit of a vibration problem when runing over the posted speed limits...Have rechecked all the air pressures (forks, rear tires, monshock, and air suspension (it's a Tri-Wing kit)...am considering going back to a motorcycle front tire at next service...either a Dunlop or Avon...Might be pricey to chuck a good tire but there are times when I feel the need to run a bit faster than the cages and trucks on our lovely interstate system. Two more 1000 mile runs and then if the problem doesn't go...the tire is gone....good mileage, but I guess I ride too hard...
  14. Sometime back some one posted a simple quote on types of riders..Like There are those who ride, those who talk about riding....ect.....Anyone know where I can find it? Need to quote it to some who need refreshing on another site...Thanks for the help...
  15. A kind word for some guys in Hollister Mo....If you ever blow a clutch in Branson Mo on a Saturday night give the guys at Hollister Cycles a call....went out of the way to get me back up and running.....AND they work on Mondays..... TRIPOD: I'll send you some info when I return to FL on the set ups I have tried with my Tri-Wing/RSMV....tires/air settings and such....after 61K miles I might have most of it sorted....
