  1. is this how it always acts at 38* or was it just today?
  2. It is nice that she has her own ride. that is a nice one too. my wife is wanting her own ride too. we have a friend who may sell hers to us, but it is all in the talk stage. add this poor economy and we may have to wait awhile. It is nice how this situation is coming along. another rider and female at that - great.
  3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I read the article in the above link - - it states the employees gave the money, not valero. valero only provided jobs. it was the working folks who pooled their money from their paycheck, not company profits, and gave to the charity.
  4. it will be a pain, but i had a similar problem and I hope this works for you. I took my hinge assembly apart and put it back together. don't know what i did or how that fixed it, but it works normal. there is not much room in there when it won't open all the way, you can try that.
  5. My wife's brother lives hour north east of twin cities, Minnesota and makes good use of his burner. I felt i should add that bit since I was referencing getting one to use here is our place in Louisiana.
  6. What are you going to use for a corn supply? Do you know about how much corn you will burn in one winter?
  7. We were thinking the same thing after we saw my wife's brother's corn burner. they are great. the only item that has kept us from getting one is the corn supply. sure there is corn available, but optimally, the corn needs to have a certain low moisture level or internal dryness per kernel. the higher the moisture, the harder it is to burn. In Louisiana, we have high humidity and even the winters there is humidity. also storing enough corn for the winter can have it challenges plus keeping it dry and pest free while storing it seems too much for us. we have held off buying one. we love the concept and enjoyed the warmth while watching one in action. upkeep and lighting it was not bad and much less than the open hearth fireplace we currently use. I was told that "deer corn" moisture level was too high for burner use, but I thought that maybe it could be blended in once the burner was up and running. don't know tho, as we did not purchase one.
  8. once you cut the cable off the keyboard, it is a plug with wires. it is no longer a keyboard and you have thrown away the keyboard. Or maybe you put it back on it's wall mounting plate (without it's cord). now that you have just wire and plug, you can now route the audio signal that is coming from your scooter to some external speakers. the external speakers should have speaker wire going from themselve to the cable that came off your keyboard and is now plugged into your motorcycle's factory multi media output cable.

You may need a gender changer as I don't remember if scooter cable is male or female.
  10. We can't do much from here in Louisiana, however, prayers are sent.

  12. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I agree with the above. been there done both. do the screen maint.
  13. this is what i have found. if something is in just really nice shape and has good cord/motor, i go to 40 - 45 %.
  14. that had to be a real pain to find that. i have had good luck with mine so far and I use the schummaker brand. I do take a look see at it regularly so i know all is well. I hope to not cook my battery.
  15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LChapel, welcome to the site. what bike do you ride? do you have more than one scooter? How did you wind up with your motorcycle, tell us the story.
  16. you can pull the battery and put it with the tender in the house util room. jus' sayin.
  17. good night john boy
  18. after looking at those models, i see they are nice. however, i want to add that the front wheel chock is never used alone during transport. in my opinion after using my harbour freight model for several trips, that the harbor freight model does nearly as good a job of what it is supposed to do when used with all the other stuff we use to tie our bikes down that the 150.oo bux difference is just not worth it. again, this is my world and that is what goes on in it for my 04 RSV front tire.
  19. if you look on ebay, they show the fins for sale, layin on a table for photographs. as you remove them, you will think - oh, now i see. there ya have it.
  20. yes, it is straight forward. I had the oposite problem you did. i removed my fo fin covers for something else. left them off to continue next day. I did not know about these drain/freeze plugs. i soon learned when one popped out over night and i woke to a pool of anti froze on the floor. assuming yor covers are off - then i learned what you are a fixin to. as stated, add a washer, dime or penny to the flat spot with some tape, put the plug back in and put the fin back in place, this will hold ya till new ones are in. order some new ones. take out the old one put in the new ones. and that's it. when you order, tho, order one extra. don't ask why, you will know when it is time. remember what Goose said about the spark plug. that is for the drain/freeze plug threaded centerhole. screw the drain plug on the spark plug, insert into the drain/freeze plug into the drain hole, unscrew spark plug. reinstall fin cover. if you lost enough anti froze liquid, replace that. one more item under yor belt.
  21. Let's assume 2 things - 1. the battery was in good shape 2. the battery tender was working properly and was charing correctly. in this case A. the battery went bad and the tender quit working B. the tender quit working while the lights looked like it was ok and the battery is ok, but now discharged C. the battery went bad and the tender is ok. D. there was an unknown power draw that caused A B or C on the other hand, the battery, the tender or both were not up to snuff to being with. using some non tender chargers, you can over charge a battery.
  22. I think it should be called a Yamondaha
  23. What happens at Luby's, stays at Luby's.
  24. Good start, let's hope everyone else shows up.
  25. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I agree. most folks don't make a habit change unless there is a dramatic change to their life. our pocket books is a place to start.
