  1. I would need to check with my better half, but it is a possibility for us. we are close to central Louisiana. we will need to make a reservation somewhere to stay the night. saturdays work for us in a case like this. we need sunday to get home for work on monday. Dale N Debbie
  2. there is a lot of info on GPS units here, just in different threads. at the top of the page near the logout button is the seach button. enter the letters GPS and it will bring you all the threads with the information you are looking for. cheers.
  3. riding is theraputic for a broken bone. you don't stand, you sit. you don't put any weight on it - that's what the highway pegs are for. at a stop light, all you do is balance. what the hey - i have strung a weedwhacker front to back on an ATV working the deer stand, so you can do the same with crutches. seems just right.
  4. after checking out the library ring we have going on & all the positive it has, i believe i will get my own copy. then after i get enough, i will put it in circulation with the standing conditions as the other owners have done. thanks.
  5. Good deal, i will search. I am in Kinder, La which is NW of Lake Charles by 32 miles. Most folks around here know Coushatta Casino Resort. well that's Kinder. The HD shop in LC i understand gives a good course, but they get near 300.oo bucks. the RLAP runs about 35.oo bucks. there is a small chuch parking lot locally where i do figure 8 practice so i was thinking maybe the DVD would do me good enough. thanks.
  6. on my 2004, the previous owner machined 2 new "dogbones" or links of some particular name that lowered my bike by 1.2 inches. I was glad he did as that helped me tremendously. I don't know it your bike can have the dogbone swapped out with a shorter one, but if so, problem solved. Heck with taking some seat cushion out, you could drop that bike near the ground.
  7. it has been about 20 years since i had my crotch rocket & a month ago we got a 2004 RSV. i can't believe how rusty i am at riding & how much different the RSV is over a crotch rocket. anyway, i have been getting pretty good at getting around on the RSV without bouts of Oh crap being uttered through my helmet. i would like to get opinions on the Ride like a pro video before i decide to spend next year's venture dues on a DVD. i am sorry, but i did not want to look through 500 or so pages to see if this has been discussed. if so, does someone know where the thread is & it cruise over there. other wise, comments are welcome. Thanks, Dale in Louisiana
  8. That is Capt Nemo riding 2 up w/GF.
  9. I would like to make it, however, making it there from Louisiana won't work for me. Ya'll have fun.
  10. the caps are designed to lift & allow boiling coolant to escape into the overflow reservoir. when the engine is cool enough, you add the coolant back to the radiator. My 2ndGen has a fan that i allow to run rather than turning the key to off on hot days. it hasn't boiled over, but south Louisiana heat makes for a hot motor. automobiles do the same thing.
  11. Done, watch for pay pal coming your way. thanks, Dale in Louisiana.
  12. I move my feet all around, so this is not an issue for me. i just use the brake how & when it's necessary. I am 5' 6" & I could probably do the heel down & toe to brake, but then that would be a procedure. procedures are for changin' oil & such. Just ride, shift and brake.
  13. that is great. very nice. it goes very well with the theme created by the retro speedometer. I don't know why yamaha didn't incorporate a tach, but i did add an hour/tach meter to our RSV. It is a welcome addition. thanks for sharing the pix.
  14. just a bit of wild guessing on my part, but, since i do computer work, you either have a whole system problem or isolated part of the system that is bad - duh. but with the obvious stated, if this were my bike's problem, i would look to buy another radio either used or new. you can spend a lot of time chasing a problem you may never find, especially with the history your unit has. you may be throwing good money after bad.
  15. I don't have the same thump on the front when I hit a bad bump, but no thump on the rear but in my ear when the bass is up. don't hit a bump & your bike won't thump. So if i don't get the thump because i didn't hit the bump that would make my rump dump or make my heart jump from the stump i could hit if my bike went down.
  16. New member here, but not new to motorcycles. I would like a set also. It is Ok if it is in a 2nd or 3rd run. time is not a big deal. the factory deflectors currently on our bike (2004 RSV) are beginning to show cracks around the screws that hold them down as well as all the scratches from road use. One question, though. Have you ran them long enough on your bike to see if the wind bends them backward or do they stay straight? I would like to take this moment to thank eveyone for their input on so many subjects in the forums I have read. Especially the tech stuff. I have been able to take care of many things on our bike with no problems due to the sharing of information on this site. Thanks to all, very much. Dale in Louisiana.
