  1. welcome, bigbuck. have you done anything 2 yor bike lately? if so, write up a little ditty with pic or 2 n let us know about. i added a rivco chrome cup holder to the handlebar not too long ago. it came out great. dale in La
  2. at least you did it to yourself. it could have been someone else ripping you a new one. take care to mend properly so the long haul is good. you don't want a weather indicator to grow in there. dale in La
  3. i agree with what has been said. what are you waiting for! to add my own experience - i am 5'6" and the bike had the lowered level links in at purchase time, of which i was happy about with my 28" inseam. the bike is very comfortable for my wife & I. the whine &chirp is the only thing that should give you any reservations. our RSV has no whine or chirp. it just has a nice rumble. running up into the RPM's is great however, give the guy some slack. he is unemployed & could use the budget cut to buy groceries. been there done that.
  4. last call (bump) for anyone interested. i leave in the late morning for houston. after the class, i am gonna make bass pro shop & the yamaha shop just for fun.
  5. do you mean the ads we have on this site, or other sites as well? which in that case, while i have nothing for sale here, i won't get an email. if i get the renewal email from another site, it won't renew what i don't have for sale here.
  6. Welcome aboard, Alan, glad to have you here. lookin forward to more posts as you get used the keyboard. checkout the ongoing adlib thread where Aussie Annie is going through a lot just to get no where fast. dale in La.
  7. He handed back the bottle with the directions in, and once more we headed down the road. After a few miles we................. had to stop for gas and drinks. RandyR didn't do his carb sync like he was supposed to. instead he was watching re runs of CHIPS thinking it was the same as RLAP educational films. he was only gettin 30 miles to the gallon and burning more fuel than NASCAR on the fourth of july when a barrel of oil was 20 bucks. good thing cause the trailers that had coolers and drinks melted like a chocolate bunny left in the car to go back for milk when ghost rider did the GAP. just as RandyR was pullin' the pump handle out of his tank, Paulee from Orange County Choppers walked up smokin' a stoegee to collect payment for the gas. as the pump handle swung around, that last bit of gas flew out & hit that cigar just as Paulee was ........
  8. i like my heel toe shifter. i have a size 8 foot & fits just fine in between. i like the heel shifting, cause when i ride to work, i can heel shift with my dress shoes and not worry about the toe shift mark. my smaller frame seems to blend with all the features of the RSV. the only problem is when i try to stop while the front wheel is still turned. some extra long legs would help. don't ask how i know this. dale in La
  9. find the freakin directions. i printed a backup copy just in case something happened to my GPS. it melted when the ghost rider blew past me faster than Christmas with a new scooter under the tree (well, maybe the keys with a card). i saw the rider put the printed directions in you bottle. thank goodness he dropped it just past the 18 wheeler. i saw the trucker pick it up. he looked our way, puzzled because he had never seen . . . . .
  10. boomer - who never lets spilled scotch go un drank, followed the scotch down the hole bringing all the oil with him. the hogs were squeeling louder than an RSV with a bad whine and chirp because they thought they were gonna wallo in the oil and eat venture riders as they lost it in the turn. with the ghost of twisties past gone, out of no where came the ghost rider. flames coming out places on a body i never knew existed, he whipped his flamin' chain off his shoulder, snapped towards . . . . . .
  11. not much info from me, but i am 5' 6" with 28" inseam. I have not rode a G1. i have an 04 RSV G2. i am able to sit forward or back some to adjust my butt on the seat to keep me comfortable. I have a back rest that helps & i am glad i have it. i rode some after buying the bike and prefer the rest. i can move my legs to n fro from floorboard as needed. my legs aren't long enough to fully place my foot on a peg, so i just do a half n half, toe inward or outward, just what feels comfortable. so i just shift around on my bike as need be & i stay comfortable. my wife debbie says she is comfortable & has plenty of room.
  12. making us aware & keeping folks updated as different ones of us learn of a law change, it is good to pass on the knowledge. thanks. dale in La
  13. I heard a loud howl coming from the sidecar.....Zeus spotted the bear with dans gloves and he was going nuts.....he wanted a piece of that bear but the bear fended off his attacks with those protective gloves.......... but the bear knew he was out numbered & out gloved when a siren was heard over the idling rumble of Yamaha motors. around the curve the bear saw a HD ultra with police markings and a pair of german shepherds on the back seat. everyone knew we had been bending the rules farther than we could scrape our floorboards in the curves of the road. we thought we were headed for ticket city. Lo' n behold it was jerry motorman palladino. he was shakin his head, took off his gloves (which one of the german shepherds took on his way to help Zeus with the bear) looked at the bunch of us and said . . . . . . . .
  14. yes, you are blessed. you have nothing majorly wrong. you should be up and around like new soon. the bike can be repaired / replaced. I am glad it was not more than that. Let's just hope the lymph nodes have been scared shiftless and swollen and that they will be ok.
  15. I waved to him as he passed by with a stewardess wave as I repeated BYE-BYE, BYE-BYE, BYE-BYE. And Then............................................. i looked at the slayer and told him to stop stammering. its as if he was in the presense of Beowolf himself. i nearly cropped my jeans when i turned where he was looking. sure enough it was Beowolf. he was chasing RandyR on a new can am spyder twisting the throttle like it was a sword plunging deep into the throat of a dragon. about that time Beowolf looked over at Slayer and myself. he laid his eyes on the lovely rider on the back seat of my RSV and . . . . .
  16. bump for interest
  17. anyone else interested in Houston RLAP? they told me they work you hard as a lone rider. by now there may be a couple other riders signed up. won't know till Saturday.
  18. Ditto on thanks for your & all other's service to our country. my father collects both. i remember him saying at some point that the SS checks were reduced for anyone retiring after a certain date. i was young then & can't remember anymore details. if that is incorrect, you should get both in full. if specs did change, you will get both, one reduced.
  19. dinner plans? we have none that i know of. i need to call chuck & double check on our plans. we do that. if you would like to meet N eat somewhere, that would be cool as far as i know. i will send chuck an email to firm up. PM me later. i am usually up awhile, but will be mindful that you may be in touch. I have spent many years in the houston area. part of my family was there. spent many nights on the beach. i like the ferry, done once on a bike (Ninja) & other times in a cager.
  20. yea, the bottle of foam ear plugs may work at breakfast as well. have a good time! dale in La
  21. bump for interest
  22. my wife also has smaller ear canals. i checked out the etymonic link on the first page where the ear plugs were 12 bucks. they have a small ear version. i ordered 3 pair off amazon where i got a 3 dollar discount for one pair. i believe the smaller pair will work well for her, maybe you can check it out to see if they may work for her. it appears they are easier to insert than foam. kind of push in , pull out motion. dale in La
  23. the class is actually held in Sugarland, south of Houston proper. there is an industrial area where they rent / arrange some space. here is the link to the main site http://ridelikeaprohouston.com/ their website is glitchy sometimes, but there is a button on the left side of the main page that is for "Class Location". it has a map and directions. if you are from the general area, you may have through there coming & going north and south. another VR member from the area has commented if anyone goes, to give him a call & he may show for the alumni welcome to the practice time at the lunch break. i will have to look that info up to give a call. dale in La
  24. I am signed up for the coming Saturday for RLAP in houston. last communication i had with them, i was the only person signed up for class. If anyone is interested, it would be nice to have additional riders. a buddy and myself will be heading over on Friday to spend the night & then attend class Saturday (9-12-09). afterwards we are going to head to Galveston & find a place on the beach for lunch. then a bit of riding around before heading back to central Louisiana. dale in La p.s. my buddy is not attending the class, just an excuse to take his HD for a ride.
  25. maybe ya'll should form a sub group called "The Blue Boys"
