  1. OK...so now that you guys took off your lower fairing, put some highway pegs on the crashbars. WITHOUT the lower fairing, you can strech out your legs right under the big fairing....VERY comfortable on long trips! (something I could NOT do on my Wing) http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/97/m_b6e076470d9d783044fc0ce00f6e62cd.jpg
  2. I LOVE 'em both! and those aren't rats........they're User Friendly!
  3. I agree with Thom....it's an exhaust leak. I make mine backfire when going through tunnels!!!
  4. WOW...going to court in Arkansas can be a real Pain in the A**!! http://nwaonline.net/articles/2009/09/03/news/090409arshotincourt.txt How can a system get so corrupted???
  5. WOW Redneck...tell us how you really feel! My Metzler came apart too...but my wife rides with me, & we pull a heavy trailer. Avon Venoms from now on. (& they ride much better too!) Oh...BTT...I do get mine spin-balanced...but this next time I may do it myself.
  6. That looks like an older Trav-Lite (I just sold mine). Probably weighs about #300. Does this one have canvas sides, or is it nylon??? (canvas is WAY better) Also...does it come with the add-a-room??? either way, I'd say this looks like a pretty good deal. And this would be a great way to get into trailer camping. I know it worked for us! (we've now got a deluxe Kwik-Kamp...and LOVE it!!!) Here's our old Tav-Lite... http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/51/l_b12d8c107a0c9812a5021a5cbecfcc3e.jpg
  7. If this nonsence happens down here in the U.S., I'm gettin me a sailboat!...(but I'm quite sure they'll find a way to jerk me around with that as well.) Good luck with this!
  8. OOOOOOOO...I like that Foxman. I may be buying a '93 Royale this next week...and you've just confirmed that indeed, it's going to look great with the shorty windshield from my '83. (it WILL fit, won't it???) I'd like to keep the taller one as a spare for winter use.
  9. I can't believe you actually post this news on here! My son LOVES that show...(it's a futuristic sit-com cartoon...sorta like the Simpson's (made by the same people)...in space) I can't stand it. (maybe I'm getting old.)
  10. Ahhh.....it's just another way for wannabe's to yell, "hey...look at ME!!!" Why don't they just install rotating beacon cop lights or something. (sorry for being such a Negative Nancy...this is JMO)
  11. I've got this one figgered out...... You guys in the Great White North pay so much for your governmental insurance, because you need to help defer the costs of your socialized health care. And by riding motorcycles (you fools!!!), you are involving yourself in a high-risk, inherently dangerous activity. (It's a good thing you ALL don't play hockey....that would send your premiums through the ROOF!!!!)
  12. Last weekend, my son & I worked at the Oregon State HOG rally (we're pinstripers). And as soon as we pulled into the gate at the resort where it waz held at...wouldn't ya know it...we were parked right next to a 1st Gen Venture!!! hahahaha...ya gotta love that! (sorry...no pics)
  13. To me, the question is not where can you get a house for this much...it's how MUCH house can you get for this much??? Some years ago (after we bought our house), we had our old mobile home to get rid of. My buddy went nuts when we traded it to a guy for acouple of cars he had. We helped out this guy who really needed a house as he has just gotten custody of his kids...but didn't have much of an income. My buddy was on me that I could have used the mobile as a rental. My take was "the only people that are going to want to rent an old mobile home, in a dumpy park, are 'dumpy people!!!" They'd rent the place, snivel & whine about everything, and then NOT pay the rent. Then I'd have to get the sheriff to evict them from it, (after not collecting my rent for 3 months)...in which time they trash the place!!! So, I'd loose my rent money, I'd have to clean up their mess, and then pay to repair all the damages done to the place. Sounds like a total loss ta me!!! No thanks. So my question to you is...for $55,000.00...can you actually get a decent enough house (in a decent enough neighborhood) that you can find folks to rent to, who actually give a crap about where they live??? If it's in a dumpy neighborhood...I'd turn my back and RUN!!!! It's a buyers market out there right now. Take your time and be picky!!! Good luck to you with this. Hope it works out. P.S. if it were me. I'd invest in oil. They constantly show record profits...and I'd want a piece of THAT pie....plus there's NO hassles with tenants and upkeep.
  14. I dig a nice chopper, but those things are ugly as all hecK!!!
  15. Aw heck... they now have retractable fold-up training wheels they sell fer Gold Wingers...(senior citizens just can't seem to hold up a 900# motorcycle), http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3075/2329948508_6421cdd481.jpg?v=0 and they have these trike(?) kits for Hogs now too...(but they're NOT really trike kits, because they have 4 wheels once you slap 'em on!) http://trikesareus.com/images/my_harley_trike_kit.jpg
  16. Yea...if you've got a face that only a mother could love. 1st Gens rule!!
  17. I ride a 1st gen, and I cut 4" off the top of mine...rode that fer a bit, then proceeded to cut an additional 5" offa it. (If you're sitting in the seat, the top of the window is about 3" higher than the top of the mirrors.)I LOVE IT!! My wife questioned this at first (like they do) but now it feels like riding a motorcycle again. I get a bit of wind in the mug...but it doesn't blast me at all. If it starts to rain (I do live on the Oregon coastline), there's still enough there to hide behind. I had a 1500 Wing for 2 1/2 months, and did the exact same thing to it...and loved it too (not the Wing...just the windshield chop). I'm now in the process of getting my grubby little hands on a very nice '92 1st gen, and about the only thing I'm gonna do to it, is chop the window. (I'll keep a full size model on hand for winter use.) http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/97/l_b6e076470d9d783044fc0ce00f6e62cd.jpg
  18. I have one.....PM sent
  19. WOW...that's an awesome idear!!!!!
  20. Just a quick thought here... H&R is NOT the folks I'd go to see in such a sticky and tough situation. I would NOT even consider it. The ONLY way for this to be handled is through a CPA!!! And hire a good one too. Now, if you say "I can't afford a good CPA"...I'm gonna tell you... a.) a good CPA will pay his own wages...(meaning that he'll save you more than enough Over & Above whatever he gets paid), and b.) You CANNOT afford NOT to!!! I really hope this all comes out OK for you in the end. You (unfortunately) have to carry the ball on this one, and have to make sure all the t's are crossed...etc. Listen to the advice from those who have learned the hard way... a good lawer and a good CPA are worth their weight in GOLD! All the best to you!
  21. Here's a novel approach...."Get some pants that FIT!!!!" .......and step away from those Twinkies!!
  22. If this is the biggest decision you have to deal with for the week...I'll trade lives with you!!! I know what you mean about passenger comfort....if momma ain't happy...ain't NOBODY happy!!! Why do you think we have a Venture for??? Momma would NOT go touring on the back of a hardtail chopper!
  23. GREAT JOB!!! I've had designs to build my own trailer too, and one thing I definately planned on using was 19" MC tyres (like you've used here.) I ended up buying insted of building, and I'm now onto my 2nd camper trailer (Kwik-Kamp), which I absolutly LOVE...except for the those tiny, tiny, tyres! That's just about the only thing I'd change on this thing...and I can't go much bigger...wheel wells won't allow it
  24. I'm a NOOB around here. I have NO IDEA what posting Ms. Peggy may have made on this B.L. matter. But I would like her to see that (as stated by others here) that this is a forum. We come together and share thoughts, stories, and ideas with one another. Kinda like a family gathering...but with a motorcycle theme. And Lord knows, that if I didn't make a comment or two around my family members that got someone's undies in a bundle, or started a fight...that there was sumthing wrong with me. It's just my nature I guess. Peggy...you seem to be a kind, thoughtful & considerate person...(why else would you suggest leaving the board here if you weren't???). And, obviously, by reading these other postings, the other inmates on this forum really do NOT want you to leave. That in itself should be enough to set your heart at ease. So c'mon back in here...pull up a stool by the fire, and tell us about your trip out West!...'cause I know I'd like to hear about it.
