  1. I really don't understand how they could possibly fight this in court. If the market for a product is gone....then IT'S GONE!...nothing in a court's ruling is going to change that. It's like the UAW striking for 'job security'(?????) wha???????? How can you go on strike for something based on what the future may or may not produce!...I don't get it. just my own opinion. (I'm self employed if yer interested)

    Leathers

Have you considered a 'textile' jacket like a Joe Rocket??? 3 years ago, I was getting ready to ride up to Portland (4+ hour ride), in a real Oregon fall downpour. It was hammering! My neighbor at my shop asks me what I'm gonna wear. "my leathers" I say. "Do you have a rainsuit", he asks. "No, but my leathers will be fine", I respond. "DO NOT MOVE" he commands, and proceeds to drive all the way home and back bringing me his Nitro textile riding jacket and pants. "Now, wear this", he sais, "and you'll NEVER wear leathers again". Now, I'm an old ex-outlaw hardcore saddletramp...and there ain't NO WAY I'd ever have worn something that made me look like a damn stormtrooper!!! Well...to make a long story even longer....when I got to Portland, I literally...poured the water outta my boots (I still wore my old workboots)...but the rest of me was DRY, DRY, DRY!...which = warm! I waz blown away! I now have 2 complete sets of leathers hanging in the back of my closet that I have not worn in nearly 3 years...skrew that stuff...these textile jackets and pants rock! They've got the body armour in the back, the shoulders, the elbos, and the hips and knees are padded to kneel down on too. They have Velcro rain flys on all of the zippers, and have zip-out liners too. They have zip flys on them so you can route fresh air through them on hot days...And they are 100% WATERPROOF! I am completely sold on this gear, and will never wear leathers again. oh...and this stuff is way CHEAPER than leathers too!!! try this........http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/first_gear/torrent_mesh_motorcycle_jacket.html But...this is just my humble opinion is all!
  3. I like this idea over the metal box door cover, as the plastic won't scratch anything (like I'd really care about a scratch anyway), but also, the metal will get hot out in the direct sunlight...which is what started all this!...plus then you won't have to wear 'hot pad gloves' to handle it!!
  4. I have a set of Bubs on my '83 Venture. I dug 'em out of the dumpster behind the H-D shop...(hey, I'm a resourceful guy!!! They were off of a Road King, with the big megaphones on 'em...and they're LOUDER than crap!!! http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/97/l_b6e076470d9d783044fc0ce00f6e62cd.jpg
  5. The local Harley dealership uses on in their chase truck. I've watched them use it...pretty slick set-up. 1 man operation.
  6. From my point of view (is that a pun??)... I can't stand tall windows. Had one on both the Goldwing and the Venture when I bought 'em...and chopped 'em both way down. To my experience, it handles WAY better as you're not plowing so much wind, and when you pick up a cross wind it doesn't blow you around so bad. ...and because you're not plowing so much wind, YES, you will get better gas mileage. and also, you can see better in the rain, as you're not looking through a rainy windshield AND a rainy helmet visor at the same time...(remember, I live on the Oregon Coastline....you wanna talk to ME about RAIN???!!!!) hahaha seriously, I cut them down so that the wind just hits the very top of yer helmet, and you can see comfortably just over the top of the windshield. If it does start to rain, you just skrunch down a bit to hide from the direct rain blasts, and you can still see where you're going. and if someone is getting headaches from the wind and they're riding a motorcycle...frankly, I find that scarey!
  7. Dog gone...that's a tough way to open the begining of the riding season. but please try to look on the bright side... last summer I fell off a racecar trailer. my ankle swelled up to the size of a cantelope, and boy did it hurt. raced me off to the emergency room where it waz ex-rayed twice. Doc came into my holding room and told me it wasn't broke. "YEA!" I said..."that's good!" "NO" he replied...."that's BAD". A break can heal in a month or two...a severe sprain (like I got) will take 6 MONTHS to A YEAR!!!!! torn tendons take a long time to heal I used to be a regular jogger.......but not no more! get well soon Kenny!
