  1. Probably! The Hannigan is longer than a stock RSV and wider than most trike conversions, so if you don't mind a bit of a sloppy fit i.e. too big, it should keep the Koala Bear droppings off the Quike...
  2. Thanks, Larry, now we are getting somewhere! Now to find an expert on Ford rear ends and see what other gear ratios are available...
  3. Yah! I told them I was looking for more like 5 - 10 gal range. As of Good Friday they were still in the works. There is a lot of rom above the frame and below the trunk rack. I'll settle for an additional 4 so I can go as far as a normal RSV...
  4. Yes I know that, the higher the ratio the better the torque, but the more RPM's for the same speed. You run a high ratio rear end for drag racing to launch better, and a low ratio for lower rpm for economy at highway speeds. Quick change rear ends were the thing to have in the 60's with muscle cars, one set of gears for the drags, and another set for trips. I thought taller meant higher ratio but perhaps I was wrong. It's been years... Anyway, yes the T'Bird rear end in the Hannigan does make it act more like it has a VMax rear but I would be willing to sacrifice the ratio for better economy. It seems responsive enough of the line, but I am definately running higher RPM's at highway speeds i.e. 70 MPH range...
  5. If myou want your clutch to respond better, replace (or rebuild) the slave cylinder, along with draining and if possible rebuilding the master as well. Use a vacuum pump to bleed. If it isn't strong enough after that, replace your rubber lines with stainless steel lines. That should do it!! There is also a possibility that your gas gauge problem is up on the dash. The pins on the printed circuit board where the main cable plugs in have problems with cracked solder connections. You can always take a 100 ohm resistor and connect it across the sensor wires while they are disconnected and see if your gauge wil give you any bars. That should help point you in the right direction...
  6. Good points, Jeff! I always thought "Tall" meant higher ratio like 4.13 as oposed to 3.83 but could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time! Yes, I was wondering exactly how much extra room there was in the suspension. Back in the day, the rule was keep adding size until you start to hit rubber, then beef things up or gingerly hammer metal out of the way...
  7. Watching for, or creating them Dan???
  8. Hmmmmm, interesting point! My response, sure, helmets should be optional, but having gone down you'll never catch me not wearing one. Therefore, rev limiters are a good thing, and are set high enough that I've only hit it once... It would be nice to be able to disable them though but I guarantee all warranties would be off!!
  9. Hi Kyle! You don't have to be crazy to join this site, but it helps... Welcome to the family!
  10. What, did you "PAUSE" for the cause?????:rotfl:
  11. Yah! 2 cylinders are going to shake at idle a lot more than 4 cylinders...
  12. Where in NY are you?? Is it getting spark?? There are several things that can go wrong with the ignition circuit, especially with moisture...
  13. OK I'm discovering part of the the reason for lower gas mileage besides the additional weight. While cruising today, I notice 5th gear is actually useable at speeds as low as 45 as opposed to useless under 55. Soooo, I'm thinking that the gear ratio is a tad tall. Has anybody done any research on this?? I am also considering slightly larger diameter tires for better gas mileage. I know, Hannigan is adimate about using only that tire size, and I have to admit, the speedometer is dead nuts on, but I use my GPS for the speedometer so maybe I will experiment. Any suggestions or input??
  14. Yah! Same screen name there as well! Haven't been on that site since I got the '84 VR and joined this site. Many tales to tell! I was one of the charter members of dodgeintrepidchat.net as well! Remember "Long Thread" well. Sure was a bunch of charactors there, and made a few friends as well. Problem being I enjoy motorcycles a lot more, and being a little older I fit in better with this crowd of geezers on our rolling barcoloungers! Hmm, seems as there was a friendly rivalry between 1st and 2nd Gens there as well..
  15. Me too!!!
  16. Shame, I only have MK1 peg setup available...
  17. Yup!! Absolutely refuse to part with Goldie any time soon...
  18. I don't know if you ever noticed, but there are a second set of holes on the trunk mount that allow you to put the trunk back about an inch. You just have to come up with some spacers on the rear holes as the trunk sets on top of the rear bar and needs about a 1/2" spacer between the trunk and trunk mount. Mine was set up that way but Hannigan would not remount it saying it makes to big of a space between the trunk sides and the rear body. I say Horse Pucky!! They were just to lazy to McGuiver a little bit because the rear holes do not have nute welded, so they can't just screw them in. Soooo, I just inserte some 6mm screws upside down from the botom and put some lock nuts to hold the "studs" in place and put nuts inside the trunk instead. Looks OK but I am going to put a wide chrome plastic strip around the sides and rear so you won't see any gap...
  19. I can direct you to a fairly good site that I used to frequent, www.dodgeintrepid.net There are some pretty knowledgeable people there... The 2.7 was a poor engine to begin with. Suposedly on 2001 they made some changes to helpimprove the longevity of them but there were still issues. We still have our 2002 R/T with the 3.5 which was a much better one. We have had it for 90K so far. You may want to consider putting in a 3.2 engine if you can find one in a boneyard cheap. They were a lot more durable..
  20. Great newsw!!! Sure, now we have to ride down to Texas for a M&E...
  21. Praying as I read this, and will contrinue to pray...
  22. Yah! It gets down to the old Ford/Chevy debate. Both are excellent sets, so it is hard to really decide... PS I drive a Chevy, and a Mopar...
  23. You may have just learned a very valuabloe lesson, NEVER reuse a crush washer without sanding them first...
  24. Yah!! Try to hammer an SAE hex head into the opening. They don't really have a whole lot of torque to them...
  25. I dunno, sounds like a lot of crap to me...
