  1. What, no auto boneyards in your area???
  2. Yah!! Fell in love with that state 25 years ago while in Nashville on business. Managed to see a lot of the western side of the state, and in a few years saw some of the eastern side as well. Always thought of retiring in that state but now it looks like we will probably stay here but who knows. Also liked the western side of Virginia, nice country there as well!
  3. Don't know why you got better gas mileage but I do know the Roanoke area is some pretty country!!
  4. None extra, but those can still be bought and they are not that costly. I think Partshark has them. Rocket knows where to get them...
  5. What kind of foot gear is he using? Thick soled boots may just give him the extra inch he needs. I knjow the feeling, they are tall bikes, and I "gently" sat mine down a couple of times. As far as a lowering kit there are none that I know of but that does not mean it can't be done. Give him a little more time to get comfortable with the bike, they are BIG!!!
  6. They are NOT just dogs, they are members of the family!!! Deepest condolances my friend.
  7. OK use a vacuum pump and first bleed the rear caliper, then bleed to the junction near the neck then the front caliper then return to the neck one more time then to the anti dive, you should be good to go. That junction on the neck is a high point for the entire system and air just loves to accumulate there!!!
  8. Australia, isn't that where the Von Trapp family came from???
  9. No, but I am...
  10. Welding your collector should be OK as that's what people do when they cut into them to fix the rattle inside...
  11. Well, there are a lot of things that can cause the minor leak! Try to see exactly where it is coming from. I would suggest a half can of seafoam in the gas tank followed by another nice ride and it will probably run like new again. Anti freeze on the left side is most likely the drain plug...
  12. Big Tom will be there in the AM too!! Stop on by!! I think you will like the R/T, after all said and done would have been cheaper than the route we went...
  13. I agree!! The Dragon is a test of driving skills!! One mistake can cost you your life!!!!! Maybe if it was not so popular "competition" riding would not be an issue, but anybody that ever rode the Dragon KNOWS that it isw not the place to disregard others...
  14. The belts are in as of yesterday, so expect delivery soon!! I have PM'ed a couple of you...
  15. Hmmmm, I know the freezing works but I had no problem installing the new ones with just a tap tap tap...
  16. OK, this works tooi... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=4738
  17. Hmmm, Radio Crap and Best Lie = overpriced!!! Hey, it's only gonna cost you gas money to clean out my shed...,
  18. Not me, I'm still here!! Now Big Tom, well, unless he fanagled the time off, he is stuck guarding the Judge...,
  19. Ya gonna bring it with???
  20. I agree, more straps is good!!!
  21. Yes, my Bro-In-Law has that set and I used it last month and decided to buy myself a set as well. They are ball end AND have that handy shortie coming out the side of the handle. If you are an inside track member they are $9.99 this month...
  22. Chances are if your radio works then the intercom should work as it is a shared amplifier. You can always find someone with a wired helmet (or helmets) and test it. Honda cords are the same as are some HD setups...
  23. I used to buy 12 gauge speaker wire from Parts Express for a decent price, just as "High Quality" as Monster for a LOT less!! It was near audiophile quality, not quite 99.999% pure but was O2 free, about 99.97% pure copper. I still have some good lengths of it if you are interested and in the area, get it out of my shed!! The longer the run of wire, the thicker gauge you want. 16 gauge zip cord is really not the way you want to go but will work as speaker wire. As mentioned, should you want to upgrade the system in the future spend the extra for good speaker wire. You want it as pure as possible, and oxygen free so that it doesn't tarnish over time. Impurities will impede the electron flow resulting in very minor distortions that the average human can not really detect but the purists insist they can notice, and in theory do indeed exist!! What route are you going with speakers?? Without good speakers even the finest amp will sound like crap whereas cheaper systems sound better with quality speakers...
  24. NEVER tie the handlebars, they bend real easy!! Invest in one of those front wheel chocks from Harbor Freight, they alone keep the bike upright. I tied from the forks in front and from the passenger grab bars in the rear. No problems for close to 1000 miles!!
  25. ***SIGH*** I'm afraid I've gotten used to the retired lifestyle!! Oh well, only 1 year 4 months to go...
