Help !!! how do I .......
bongobobny replied to kevin-vic-b.c.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yup, all of the above. I got lucky on one and drove it out with a drift pin, but the other I ended up making 2 cuts to take out a small section then it finally gave it up with some more hammering... -
I'll trade you a kickstand for your old CB antenna (unless it's broke)...

Fantastic!!! Now if he had done it in the colors of your bike...

The Headlight Mod....
bongobobny replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I haven't done a thing with mine yet, but it looks great!! I'm gonna use mine on the project '85 bike. The '84 is going to stay with the MK2 mod and a Silverstar. Thomas, one of the best inexpensive mods you can do to your '85 is to remove the rubber headlight bezel and paint it gloss white!! Ask Marcarl about that, before I even put in a brighter headlight it was just as bright if not brighter than his with a Silverstar and reflectiuve tape on his bezel!!! -
It will actually help protect the speakers as well both from sun and rain...

I made a little bracket and glued it to the top center of my windshield, then ran the antenna lead along the edge of the windshield and used chrome plastic door molding tro conceal the wire and dress up my shield on Goldie. On the trike i just ran the lead back to the trunk rack and stuck it on there. Unlike Freebird's cheap magnet, mine stays put...

I think you need more chrome on your bike... Sooo, does it help put up the centerstand or keep it from sinking into the ground???
-
Hope your day is a joyous one!!!
-
I was gonna say that except usually the antenna is magnetic mount so why make it out of plastic???

No, keep the helmets on unless asked to remove. Both US and Canada have helmet laws. If you have a full face or modular, flip up the screen or bottom so that they can see your face. As far as the "Anything to declare" question, the difference being what do you have in your possession that you don't want them to know about like "gifts" for your Canadian friends or in the case of Canadians, purchases that they don't want to pay the exorbatant duty on. Strong piece of advice do NOT pack a weapon unless you like jails (from the inside) and no large quantity of tobacco or alcohol. Of course no drugs, that's a given. Be friendly and relaxed, it's no big deal unless you look like Omar the tent maker fresh in from the Middle East. They are not out to get you, they are just doing their job. Some of them can actually be human and friendly (avoid excessive conversation) and others are rookies out to make a name for themselves. Be polite and courteous and only answer the questions asked...

Another very remote possibility, replace your fuel filter. Probably not the issue but hey, you never know... -

Slipping clutch on my 89 royale
bongobobny replied to dz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yah!! Per above could be the discs are glazed and need replacing. See Earl for all you need. Also, do not use any additives to your oil like friction retardants. We have "wet" clutches and any anti friction additives will cause the clutch to slip. No STP, no Wynns Friction Proof, no Duralube, etc. You are best off with plain old 15W40 diesel truck oil such as Delo or Chevron... -
Ahhh! I carefully reread your post. I misinterpreted. I thought you were wondering where the horn relay was, not the horns!! There is no stock relay but that does not mean someone didn't add one for air horns, and then removed the horns before selling the bike! The stock horns are on brackets along side the radiator on each side about half way down or so. The brackets bolt onto the frame.

Yah! If you are getting spark but the plugs are wet I'm thinking your spark is not hot enough. Also pull the plug wires from the coil and make sure there is no corrosion in the coil end. What bothers me, though, is the fact the tach dies. The tach is fed by the primary pulse to coil 2. You may want to take your TCI out, remove the cover and swee if any water comes out of the case. Then bake your TCI in an oven at around 225 - 250 degrees Farenheit for a couple of hours to bake out any moisture whether you get water coming out of the case or not. In Canadian degrees it's anything slightly above 100 degrees C... Besides the plug wires, try new plugs as well. They might look all right but might not be good enough.
