I picked up a real nice 5x10 open bed trailer in Savanah Ga for right around $600.00 and have had 2 83s on it it was tight but it worked out well.Where are you picking it up at? Maybe we could help with a trailer relay to get it to Pa and where in Pa does it need to get to? Jeff

Chrome Rotor Covers?
muffinman replied to JimRoberts's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The covers were a Yamaha acessory good luck finding a set they bring BIG money. Also make sure you install a switch if you add a ring of fire on your scoot I have heard that some states will give you a ticket for having them on a bike Jeff -
If the tci is getting an intermittant signal from the kill switch it will not let it run properly so yes the switch is a possible problem.Water is also another possible problem that would only let the bike run with the choke on. Jeff
-
Takw your kill switch apart and clean it if that does not help then the TCI is what I would suspect being the problem. We have a Canadian member here that rebuilds them for a reasonable fee or check the motorcycle salvage yards I will check with my dealer tuesday to see if they are available aftermarket if you want. Stubborn Forks
muffinman replied to oldandcrotchety's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just use an impact wrench while doing mine I have not removed the forks from the bike on any of the ones I have done so if you have an impact go that route. Sorry I did not think to tell you to move the oil from under the scoot been there done that myself but hey you will laugh about it later when you think about it. Jeff -
Not to rub it in but I just did my 7th oil change on the bike monday. Glad yall are getting to ride again Jeff

Stubborn Forks
muffinman replied to oldandcrotchety's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you have the 10 mm bolt and the upper snap ring removed the fork should come apart not all of them do so easily but they eventually do give.Look at the breakdown on the bike bandit website to make sure you have not missed anything then go at it again. Yes after you put it all back together put the oil in at the top of the fork I think it is a 17 mm hex I own it but dont remember the size. Dont worry about the oil air side issue it will be right if you put the oil in from the top Jeff -
Get us the email addy and we will either change their minds or get you kicked out of school.LOL You know how the members here like to make idjits see the light we will bombard them with questions all the way to the president of the school if need be. Find a state trooper and talk to them about the laws regarding the school as the school should be under state control they should be able to get the morons to see the errors of the rules. Jeff

Gerald it wasnt a creek it was mud in my case and here is what I did. Gunned it and dug the tire in till the mufflers were sitting in the grass touching the ground.I left the bike in gear and running and went across the street to get my neighbor. After he stopped laughing he gave me a push and I covered him in mud spinning the rear wheel. When all else fails give it the gas. Jeff

This is a problem that I chased for months on the blonde.I finally fixed it when I replaced the carb boots. Not because they were cracked but because they were cracking.I have since installed them on another of my bikes and they are not causing any problems. So I think that the root of the problem is in the area where the carbs set into the boots not the boots themselves. At one point I had a vacuum leak with these boots and what had happened was the carbs came out of the boots on #s 3&4 and after I reset them no more problems. That was the day I ordered the new boots. I hope this helps some of you. As for the way Marcarl told to sinc the carbs without a carb tune I would do this instead you will get closer start with # 3 with the motor running and adjust the idle screw untill the scoot sounds best then do #4 then do #2 It can be done by ear if you go it slow and really listen to the motor but I would suggest that you be in a quiet area and alone so you are not distracted. muffinman replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)

scraping noise
muffinman replied to nowindinmyhair's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the noise is not from the brakes then I would suggest you grease the driveshaft on both ends and take a close look at the universal joint. Jeff
