Thanks for keeping us updated through this Kenny. Mean dog is now in a much better place. Mark Nancy and the entire family will always be in our thoughts and prayers. I wonder if when we all make it to the streets of gold if we will finally be able to ride without having to keep our eyes on the cagers.

From what you quoted it sounds like you talked to either the honda shop or the kawasaki dealer Larry has never been that high on rubber for any bike I got tires for from wings to Hds and he only charges 20 to 40 to mount the tire if he has to pull the wheel if you bring it in it is usually Free here is his number 252-338-2211 if you schedule it for a weekend I will be more than willing to help you with removing the tire. give me a call at 9196735095 before 9 pm and after 4 pm I can t answer my phone at work. Are you gonna make it to this weekends meet and eat in NewBern N.C.????? Jeff

I had a set made by audivox that Factory now has I got them from Taz at the first vogel. As for sound quality I personally dont understand someone that rides a bike wanting great sound quality from the bike or the headsets I must be deaf or something cause they both sound decent to me.Sorry but I am more into the ride than anything even though I just found the Sinatra channel on sirius thursday. Left side oil leak
muffinman replied to mark reed's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Here ya go Terry it is item 23 http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/yamaha-motorcycle-venture-royale-xvz12tdk-1983/o/m7869 It sounds like you may need to rebuild the slave cyl or the hose to it is leaking tht is the only thing on the left side of the bike that has brake fluid. Look up your parts under an 83 or85 all the parts are the same except the trunk on those years. Jeff -
Starter not catching
muffinman replied to tfair's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I dont see a problem in your pics it may have been that they were stuck or the springs are weak. How does the gears look? Try also to turn the driven ring it will only turn one way if I am thinking right. If I have a spare flywheel out in the shop I will check my thinking. Jeff -
Left side oil leak
muffinman replied to mark reed's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When you say hyd fluid do you mean brake fluid? If so I would look at the slave cyl. The washer is available from the dealer or bike bandit this is the Yamaha part #90430-06014-00 Hope this helps. Jeff -
Sorry Fred my net connection has been iffy this week. I soldered to the back of the circiut board in the tape deck now no matter where I tune the radio to I got Satelite with no radio wave bleed through. After I go get Minis car tommorow (I blew the engine monday) I will take the tape deck apart and take some pics for ya. Jeff

If you had a First Gen all you would need is chaps gloves and a jacket but seeing as how you are on a Second gen you do need winter clothing:stirthepot::stirthepot: Jeff

Ken I switched from xm to sirius whne xm dropped Nascar.I am using the xm antenna on the blonde and dirct wired it to through the tape deck and have no fade out problems. When I use it on the other bikes or in the car it fades with the sirius antenna but not to bad I mounted the antenna on the left HB on a bracket I made. Left side oil leak
muffinman replied to mark reed's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mark the oil leak can either be from the clutch slave or the shifter shaft seal if it is not from a gasket. The middle gear cover bolt that is leaking should have a copper washer on it as has been said it is the oil drain for the tranny. Call me if you need to ask any questions. Jeff -
Engine won't turn over
muffinman replied to Trimster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Put the bike in nuetral and try turning the back wheel if it turns then put it in 5th gear with the wheels on the ground and try moving the bike and listen closely to the engine to see if there is any noises.I would think that maybe you had moisture in the cyls and that the pistons are stuck before I would suspect that something in the engine broke. If all else fails pull the starter or stator cover and try again. Jeff -
No pics Jeff you know how it is if you have seen one Second gen you have seen them all. Jeff

Dan I trailered it 255 miles but it was easier to get it off the trailer in the ditch at my house than it would have been at the dealers on a 4 lane highway. That was the Coldest ride on a bike called a Venture at 30 degrees I have ever had. No wonder the second gen riders dont want to ride any distance at temps under 50 degrees they have No wind protection like a First gen.:stirthepot::stirthepot: Thanks BlackJack for standing up for me, Jeff

Lets go now I am only 35 min from Va and 1.5 hours from Richmond. So when you gonna be here????? Lets get a move on I am sure Felicia would not mind seeing us again. Jeff
