    Very nice product, but pricey for me. For $500.00 dollars, I think I can buy several replacement bulbs for my headlight and passing lamp . I may wait until more products come out. What I am really waiting for is a better LED side marker next to the saddle bags.

    After a few days of internet shopping for a motorcycle rear tire, I decided to order another Bridgestone G702 from AmericanMoto tire. I made this decision, because I still have my OEM Bridgestone on the front and this front tire may easily last for another 5K to 8K miles. After this set, I may very well try another brand and replace all tires as a set. Thank You for all your helpful response to my inquiries and Thank You to VentureRider.org. Order was place today, so I probably should receive my tire in about 3 to 5 days.

    Looks like I will only need one (1) seal which is #33 on the diagram. As far as the driveshaft engine side is concerned, what is holding that in place? Does is just snap-in place on the u-joint. I read on past threads that there is a rubber boot on the engine side that keeps dirt, water, grime, etc. out of that joint.

    I received another email from Shinko's customer support and they said that the Shinko 230 is a V Rated tire. The specs. are similar to the Metzler, so it may or may not be a good choice. My gut feeling is that this tire may last for at least 10K miles as long as you maintain proper psi throughout the life of the tire. As far as price is concerned, the Shinko is for sure the cheapest tire out there.

    ok with the picture, I see #33 oil seal is the engine side (?). #9 Oil Seal is the pumpkin side. (Correct me here). These are 2 different part numbers.

    It really won't hurt to replace spark plugs. Yamaha recommends that plugs be replaced at 8000 miles. I did mine 1000 miles ago using OEM brand NGK plugs.

    I emailed Shinko and asked for the load rating on the Shinko 230 150/90/15. It looks like the same load rating as the Avon Venom and the Metzler 880 Marathon. (Metzler tires is not recommended by majority of Venture owners). I've not read of anybody using a Rear Shinko tire on a 2nd Gen. They responded stating, "First of all let me thank you for your interest in Shinko Tires!! The laod rating on this tire is 992 lbs. I hope this information helps and if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask!"

    Thanks for the diagram. I also have a copy of the Tech Manual and will review the parts and their placement before I start tearing down. This weekend, I am taking a ride to my local Yamaha dealership to pickup my materials. (off to reading sections of the tech manual)

    Hello RandyR. As far as gaskets are concerned, nothing really is to be replaced to my knowledge. But there are 2 seals that may need to be replaced once you pull out your driveshaft (I think Engine side and pumpkin side) when you reinstall.

    I've been riding a lot lately and I also need to clean the kickstand. The last time I lubricated it was to spray some Silicone. This time I may add White Lithium Grease.

    Great tips Eck! I need to take my time and slowly put everything in place. The binding issue can be a problem...come to find out...you have already installed the rear tire and added final gear oil. Lots of planning to do, but my confidence is surely building day after day the more I read about this.

    Ok...here is probably my final question for the early afternoon. My dilemna is this...I currently have OEM Bridgestone on my front that is still good for another 8000 miles. If I ever decide to go for another brand other than Bridgestone on the rear, this will not match my front tire. I've read on the tech library about this warning and mixed responses from colleagues at work that mixing tire brand is not a good idea....if it can be avoided. What is your take on this?

    On your Michelins riding 2 up, what psi do you have on your rear? Just curious.

    I enjoyed reading all your comments on every tire that could possibly fit our Venture. I contacted American Moto and inquired about Michelin Commanders. Their Load rating for the rear is 74 (827 lbs) and 71 (761 lbs) for the front. At 827 lbs, that is pretty much the whole weight of the bike. So...I may get at least Dunlop E3s for a load rating of 77 for the rear. Still undecided, but I will place my order today and will post here what I actually ended up getting.

    I've seen a Commander (front tire) with a load rating of 77H. I may go ahead and settle for a set of Michelins. It is just a matter of time.

    Their site does not list the rear size (150/90/15). I've looked everywhere and all I can find are Regular D404, Bridgestones G702, Avon Venom (nice tire), and Michelin Commanders. I saw one for the front E3...not the rear. I may end up buying Michelin Commanders or Avon Venom. What is the load rating of Michelin Commanders?

    I think everything is slowly falling in place in my head. Now that makes sense to me to use a fine brush to just clean out the rear pin hub holes. Can you guys mention more about the shaft drive seal (2 needed). I hope I can recognize them once I get everything opened up. One other important question, which bolts would require Blue or Red Loctite during re-installlation? Acorn Nuts? ... +1 on the acid brush. I am imagining, just apply a thin coat of Honda Moly60. Option b: .45 brush is under a buck...may be my best choice.

    I read in this forum something about replacing 2 small bushings, once you pull out the shaft to grease them. I'll try to locate that thread.

    Do I really need to polish the inside of the bushing where the fingers fit?
