MP3 Player Install On '99 Yamaha Venture
KeithR replied to Wayne McClain's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the Venturemp3 player and am having some issues with it. Nothing serious but enough that I'll go back to using my Zumo. They did offer for me to send it back to Spain for testing but the shipping for me made it not worth it. Keith -
Good luck on that one Barry. I needed one a couple of years ago and the only ones that I came across were damaged. I had to replace both sides so it was a tad expensive. I have the left one still waiting to be installed. Check out these guys for pricing....Yamaha Canada are nuts ! Keith http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/

I did use it first when I bought it but havn't used it much this year if at all. I haven't done alot of riding this year. Its nice to have I guess but I dunno if I would invest a big amount of money unless I had something specific I needed it for. Keith

Drift makes a nice camera as well. I have the older model but they just released a HD small version. Keith

In most cases multiply the last nbr by 5 will give you the bore size......eg 6004.....4x5=20 mm.....6205....5x5=25mm. In my 20 years in the bearing business Yamaha were the worst for having odd size bearings. Keith

I tow a Piggy Backer - love it. Not a bad price if you can get it delivered close to the border and pick it up or pay the extra shipping. Keith http://www.piggybacker.com/Piggybacker/PiggyBacker_Cargo_Trailer.html

Yep I have the EQ with the 901's....they say not to use them without it....not sure what would happen. I ordered the refoam kit for the 901's but when they made the offer I decided to go with new. I picked up a set of 601 series 1 awhile ago that I use with my surround system. I had a set before the 901's and looked for years to get a set....refoamed for $150.....sweet sound. Starting to worry about all the magnets being in one room!!! Keith

I have a Luxman Hybrid tube amp that I bought in the early 80's that still works like it did then......I bought a set of Bose 901's at the same time and the speaker surounds were rotted...I contacted Bose last year and they replaced them....for a fee....now thats a Warranty! I still use the Luxman ststem but did go to a Sony surround setup - there is no comparison when it comes to sound between the two. Keith

I'm just back from vacation and I was getting 12.3 kms/liter. My Fuel light came on (not on reserve and I think I had 7L or so left) at 208kms......I was riding 2 up pulling a full trailer. Not sure if you have the same tank size as a Venture ? Keith

I went to the local dealer to get some prices on a few items after I looked in the US online......(Yamahasportsplaza.com) Left Crash Bar - $390.99 CDN - $237.93 US Clutch Plates - $15.99 CDN - $6.95 US Oil Filter - $13.99 CDN - $7.95 US Air Filter - $44.99 CDN - $20.33 US Almost double to support the local CDN dealer......even with freight I'll still be in money. I guess I will have to support the US economy....again! Thought I'd share Keith

I may have mentioned this before but back a few years my son was struck by a snowmobile trailer that. A guy didn.t use safety chains. The trailer got loose and struck him while walking on a sidewalk......brusied kidneys.......lacerated liver.....nice scar the length.of his chest...... So yes you need to use chains. Not a motorcycle related accident but. An example of what can happen. Keith
