  1. You people are making me old and gray. Those features are still here. At the top of the page is a large menu bar that says "What's New, Articles, Forum....etc. Just below that is a small menu bar and the very first button on the left is "New Posts". Then in that same menu bar....7th from the left, is a drop down menu titled "Quick Links". The first item in that drop down menu is "Today's Posts". Then at the right end is another drop down menu titled "My Search Links". Look at that one also. It contains links to your posts, your threads, unanswered posts, etc. It's all here folks. Explore my friends, explore.
  2. From our house to yours, we wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
  3. Not a problem Angelo. I knew you didn't mean it that way but that is where it immediately headed.

    GREAT picture.
  5. Don't know what has happened over the past few days but I guess it's time for a reminder about the few rules that we have here. NO POLITICS NO PORNOGRAPHY NO PERSON ATTACKS NO RELIGIOUS DEBATE Those are the main ones. I have said it before but it doesn't hurt to repeat it. This is a family oriented site. It is hard to rate such things but I would say that if used a movie type rating, "PG" is probably where it would fall. This site is based on friendships and the shared passion for motorcycles. It is about what unites us, NOT those things that might tear us apart. I realize that there are things going on it the world that are of interest to many of us. There are things that we should be able to discuss on a technical basis without turning it into a political debate. The discussion on fracking is one of those things. So far, it has remained fairly technical and non-political but it has the potential of going south. If that happens, it will be deleted. There was another thread about Cuba. That is almost a purely political topic and has been deleted. Thanks
  6. I figured you would be pretty much parked for the winter but then saw this picture so I guess you are on the road again.
  7. By the way....I've been working on the "owners manual" for a couple of days now. Very likely a long term project but it has started. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forum223/
  8. NO...I am NOT a tinkler. I always get to the restroom in time and I don't appreciate the implication that... oh.....TINKERER....uh....never mind.
  9. I'm working on the service manual as hard as I can.
  10. Eddie, I have never had any dealing with them but they sound like a good group. If you want to have an auction, you should put them in the "General Auctions" in the classifieds. The two I have there now though aren't doing as well as I had hoped. You might get more if you put them on Ebay.
  11. You will notice that I added back the "similar threads" feature that we had before the site upgrade. Let me know if this is a feature that you like or don't like. I can easily remove it if most of you find it more obtrusive than helpful.
  12. Got yours a while ago Keith. You have been added back.
  13. A newer member here, Zzyzx, has stepped up to the plate and donated one of his very nice RSV/RSTD trailer hitches to be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Lonna and that Squid boy guy that she is married to. A huge thanks to Zzyzx. View and bid at this link and remember...it's for a great cause. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=100
  14. I put ours up the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Eileen has been decorating it and the house ever since.
  15. I wish I could. Mike wanted me to do the auction so now that I posted it, I'm not allowed to bid on my own auctions. I don't need them but would bid just to help out.
  16. Eusa1 has generously donated a set of his Diamond Cut cylinder fins to be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Squidley and Lonna. A very generous gesture on his behalf and one that again makes me proud to be associated with such a great group of folks, I have set the auction for a 5 day duration in hopes of getting the proceeds to them before Christmas. You may place your bids here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=98
  17. I can rename the categories or even break them down further if it will help. Just tell me what you want. I figured that once people took a look they would find them.
  18. No you weren't. Stop being a We would not refuse the rum ball maker.
  19. I know what they were going through. If they care as much about their site as I do this one, I know that they were stressing out big time. As for the site itself, it is entirely different. They are using PHbb for the forum software. PPbb is a free open source forum software. It is widely used and there is really nothing wrong with it. Some of you who were around when I first started this site over 10 years ago may remember that I actually built this site originally with PHbb because I had limited funds to dedicate to a new site. It only lasted about a day or two because I saw right off that it just didn't have all of the features that I wanted. So....I opened my wallet and bought the software that I felt would serve us better. It served us well but when I got ready to upgrade a few weeks ago, I had to buy it again because my license just didn't include the upgrades to the newer version. It all adds up folks. A lot of the customizations here I figure out myself. Some are beyond the scope of my abilities though and I search for mods from other places. Some are free, some are free for a "lite" version and the "pro" versions cost money. Our classifies software for example was NOT free. You know that we went through a couple of different trials and that was because I was trying out a couple of free solutions but they just didn't meet my expectations. I try to give you the best of what I can find. I ended up purchasing an upgrade to what we had previously been using, PhotoClassifieds. I had to open my wallet but I felt it was best for all of you. Believe it or not, even the "Thank You/ Likes" addition I ended up paying for the "pro" version. Simply because the "Lite" version did not allow you to collapse the list of people who thanked and liked for a post. Another package that I actually paid for was the "favorite smilies" system. The version that I used on the old site was free but I couldn't find anything similar for this new version of VBulletin and it was requested several times that it be added back. So.....open the wallet again. Upgrading the site is not an inexpensive undertaking but it had to be done. I felt that if it had to be done then I had to try to please as many of you as possible and sometimes that takes a bit of money. I have no problem with that because I think you all deserve the best that I can come up with. As for what they are using? If it works for them and the members there are happy with it then that's all that matters. What we do here does not make us any better or worse than they are and vise versa. It's all about the user experience and the friendships.
  20. The Facebook page is already a closed site, it was just set so that any member could add another member and there has been no attention paid to whether or not that members is a member here or not. That is the issue. I changed the settings so that only an admin can approve new members. If we need more admins, we can add more but the main thing is that before approving a new member, they admin should come here and see if they are on the members list. Only supporting members show up on the members list here so that will be a good enough way to verify. It may require a message to the user requesting access to find out what their username is here. A bit more work but not that big a deal. The biggest issue will be going through all the current members there and seeing if they are supporting members here. That will take some time but it doesn't have to be done overnight.
  21. If anybody wants to be introduced to the website, they can get a 60 day free trial here. I have mixed feelings about Facebook. Maybe it introduces some people to the club but does it also take away from the club? How many join there and reap the benefits of the club without ever coming to the site? A large part of me thinks that the Facebook page may actually take away from the club as a whole.
  22. Not that I know of. I had one on my '99 and Corbin even made the deluxe touring seat that was sold as an optional seat by Yamaha for the RSV but there were no options for it. It was the same for everybody.
  23. Come of folks. You all know that the Squid Boy is a pain in the butt. I know that many of you were glad to help as was i...BUT...just admit that you did it for Lonna....not only is she a sweetheart but there's those pies. In all seriousness, it warmed my heart to give back to somebody who has given so much for others. Actually, you are all great representatives of what we are truly about here.
  24. Thanks folks. It was kind of a pain and I really didn't think that anybody paid much attention to it. We'll consider it gone.
  25. Thank you. I will just add one clarification. You do not need a PayPal account. Once you get to the PayPal page, there is an option to pay via credit or debit card without a PayPal account. All credit cards go through a payment processor regardless of where you use your card. If you don't have a PayPal account, they simply serve as the credit card processor.
