I haven't removed it completely, just disabled it to see if anybody cares. I can flip the switch at anytime to turn it back on. Just didn't get much feedback on it.
-
Well, I've turned it off for now. Seemed to be no love for the Shoutbox so I guess it will just go away. I'll try to find another way to irritate you all.

You folks are all complicating this way too much. The reason is very simple. Yamaha ships these bikes to the dealer in crates. They CB is pre-installed by Yamaha under the trunk. The antenna mounts are also mounted at the factory. All the dealer has to do is screw the antennas onto the mounts. Yamaha installs the CB so that the wires exit to the left side and that antenna wire from the CB goes to the left antenna mount. That is the mount that the CB mast needs to be screwed onto. It's easy to verify. Just trace the antenna wire from the left mount and verify that it goes into the black box under the trunk. That is where the actual CB is installed. If the antenna wire goes from the left mount into that black box, THAT is why the CB antenna should be screwed onto that left side. That is the only reason. The bottom line is that the antenna mount that has the cable going into that black box under the trunk is the mount that the center loaded antenna mast should be screwed onto. I've never seen one that didn't come from the left mount. Too many dealers don't know the difference and just screw the masts on to either side.

It's NOT your computer. I should have mentioned it. The new Shoutbox does that sound to notify when somebody enters it. Will make it user selectable to turn off the sound if I end up keeping it.
-
And that was a simple but GOOD question. The dealers installed a LOT of them incorrectly.

Herbert, We like to tease but we don't care about your English. Just do the best you can and we'll figure it out. You are among friends here.

It can be a combination of things but just using it to test the chat function right now. The old chat room still works. There are advantages to this one in that I think it works across all platforms, iPad, iPhone, Androids, etc. You don't have to login as it logs you in automatically and there is no logout. It logs you out automatically after you are idle for a while. I just thought I would make it available for a couple of days. If people prefer the old one, I will remove this one.

A few weeks ago, I asked for your prayers for an unnamed member. Well that member is our own one and only Black Owl and he is still in need or our prayers. Russell was admitted to the hospital before Christmas with complications from pneumonia. Things got really bad and to be honest, a lot worse than he really wanted anybody to know. He is doing better now but is still hospitalized and has a ways to go. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

It would work if it worked but it didn't so it won't.

Some of you who have been around since the early days will remember Dan Lowery. Dan was one of the original officers when I started the "Venturers" site. I honestly don't remember if he ever joined this site or not but he and I did remain friends over the years. We rode together a couple of times when I lived in Dallas. I got word today that Dan passed away on January 9th which also happened to be his birthday. Dan was a good man and will be missed by those who knew him. Please say a prayer for his family and friends.

Well I just did a customization that would give an "audio" alert "You've Got Mail" if somebody sends you a private message. Now I don't know if it works yet because I haven't gotten one since installing it. Then we will see how many people HATE it and whether or not I keep it based upon the feedback. At this point, it is not user selectable so it's everybody or nobody at this time. That is IF it's even working.

I have Decals, Small Patches and Flags. You will need to contact the other people to find out what they have.
-
Decals are ordered, paid for and on the way. I should have them in 10 days and will get them right out to you. Please get your orders placed to help me defray the initial outlay of cash. See this thread for ordering information. I had to order quite a few to keep the price down to where it was so any of you who can order and pay now will be appreciated. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/venturerider-merchandise/39088-venturerider-domed-decals.html
-
OK folks...I have ordered the decals. Please place your orders ASAP to help me recoup some of my money. Here is the thread on how to order. Production time is quoted as 10 days. As soon as I get them out, I will get them in the mail to you. You are probably looking at about 2 - 3 weeks for delivery to your mailbox. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/venturerider-merchandise/39088-venturerider-domed-decals.html

Cruisin' for St. Jude Auctions.........................
Freebird replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Lewis, I'm not sure but you may have done them all wrong. I looked and you apparently didn't check the box to allow auction/bidding. They are all listed as "Best Offer". -
I've had two people ask me about the availability of the domed decals here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/venturerider-merchandise/39088-venturerider-domed-decals.html I don not have any at this time. They are not cheap and I have to order a minimum number of them to get the best price. I have not ordered any because if there is no demand, I will end up sitting on the investment for a long time. So is there any interest? If so, I'll start taking orders and get them on the way but otherwise, will wait a while longer. Don

Oberlin Inn MAY not be an option. Somebody usually calls and tries to get us a deal but here's the problem. MOST of it is torn down right now as they are building a new one. It is still open and has some rooms but probably not many.

By the way, you say that you are not familiar with Torque to Yield bolts. Here is a decent explanation of what they are and why they should not be reused. Torque-to-yield fastener - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've been through that a couple of times in my life and all I did was flush the radiator after replacing the head gaskets. In my case though, I was getting oil in the coolant system, not water in the oil. I assume that you will have the heads checked for warpage? I would also be concerned with what caused it to blow a head gasket. All of our company vans are Dodge Caravans. We put about 150,000 miles on them and I've never heard of one having a blown head gasket. If something happened that caused it to overheat, there is a good chance that the heads will need to be machined.

At any rate, it should be a good game next week. One of the earliest Cowboy games I remember was the Ice Bowl. Anybody else remember Walt Garrison trying to get into the end zone at the end? Cowboys lost but it was a great game. And yes, I am a Cowboy fan also. Have been for many years. Was born and raised about 15 miles from the home of Don Meredith.

It wouldn't be the same without you. Going to put it on the VentureRider Calendar now.
