Yep, that's what I did also.

We are in the process of rebuilding our VR Assistance List. If you can and are willing to offer assistance to a member who is riding through your area, please edit your profile to include that information. Simply click on "Settings" at the upper right of the page and then scroll down to "Edit Profile". Near the bottom you will find a place to select "yes or no" in regards to offering local assistance and then a place to select services that you may be able to offer. Cowpuc just mentioned in another thread another, and maybe easier, way to get to it. Click "forum actions" in the small menu at the top. Select edit profile. Scroll down and you'll see where to select your information.

I've added a link under "Community" that says "VR Assistance". If you click on that, it should give you a list of folks who select the "yes" option. Then if you scroll to the far right, it will show what services they offer. Only three on it right now.
-
Yes, I think I actually covered most of the services that you listed. I don't think that there is a way though to add that to the balloon on the map. What I can do is create a link that just brings up a members list of those who have selected "yes" for the assistance option.
-
OK...I've added the necessary fields to the profile. Members will need to go to their profiles and edit the two fields, Can offer Assistance (yes or no) and then Services offered.
-
Yea, that works and thanks for the tip. The problem is, I used to keep a printable assistance list online but after the site update, I never started doing it again and like I said, it was such a pain to do that I didn't update it very often. I just looked and realize now that even the fields in the User Profile that show what services a member offers is no longer there. I have some work to do. Will try to come up with a new and better solution in the near future.

The members list is the only place you can find it right now. The other list you are talking about is outdated. Members list is viewable by supporting members only so that is a fairly secure place to put it. I need to find an easier way to do a printable list. The old one was very labor intensive and I didn't keep it updated often enough.

We could do a Michigan Riders meet at my house in Ohio.

Yea, please don't assume there is privacy in chat. Sorry, it is a public "members" chat room and what happens in chat doesn't necessarily STAY in chat. Still, so far, the comments seem to favor the old chat room.

The system messages about most counts and etc. can be turned off. In fact, I will turn them off now. You are never really booted out. You just are idled after a few minutes of no activity to save system resources. As for what is said? It is there, you just can't see it. I can go back and look at the history at any time.

I would like for those of you who use the chat rooms to give me an evaluation of the two solutions that I have installed at this time. The old one is pretty slick and has some nice features but doesn't work from all devices. The new one isn't as slick but seems to work just as well and is easier to get into and out of I think. It will be your call. If you choose the new one called "Shoutbox" at the top of the page then I will update it to the pro version. That won't make it any slicker looking but will add a few features such as allowing you to detach and run it in a separate window, turn the notification sounds on or off, things like that. Like I said, it is your call. From a money stand point, it's not a big deal. I would have to pay for the pro version of the new one but I also pay a yearly hosting fee separately for the old one so for the short term at least, it's pretty much a wash. So lets hear it. What do you want? The other option is that I could keep both but not upgrade the new one to the pro version. Just leave it as it is. I really don't think that we need two chat rooms though.

I don't know if he will be at MD or not. I'll find out.

Shipped my Road Glide seat off to Rick Butler this morning. I have put some miles on it and was pleasantly surprised with it for a stock seat. I've done a Saddle Sore and a Bun Burner on it so I know that I can do a thousand mile day on it with no major problems. There is still room for improvement though so I figured that with the snow on the ground, it was a great time to let him work his magic.

Why do I keep getting logged out every half hour?
Freebird replied to syscrusher's topic in Watering Hole
Also, what color are you using for the site? I really like the red but it definitely is slower to load than the other colors due to all the additional graphics and etc. if you are using red, try changing to one of the other colors and see it that works better for you. I can tell you that this site is not generally slow. -
Why do I keep getting logged out every half hour?
Freebird replied to syscrusher's topic in Watering Hole
I may not be understanding what you are saying but the forum has always had the time out function and it is set the same as it was before. it is set to automatically log a user out after 30 minutes of no activity. As long as you are doing something within 30 minutes, it shouldn't log you out. If you are idle for 30 minutes, it will log you out. That hasn't changed. Are you clicking the "remember me" button when you log in? If so, you shouldn't have to login again ever unless you logout manually or clear your cookies. If you are doing all of that and it is still making you login again, then you have something different in your browsers security settings that is automatically learning your cookies or something. -

Looks good to me. I would take it for a ride. If the clutch basket isn't screaming, I wouldn't worry too much about anything else.

Click on Community it the small menu bar. Then "members list". Then on the far right, advanced search. You can then search by state.
-
You can collapse it so that it doesn't show. Also, I think that if you don't go there or after you do and then are idle for a while, the sounds will stop. Haven't confirmed that though. Really doesn't matter. If people like it, I will spend the money for the "pro" version and that one includes User settings to turn off the sounds or even completely remove the shout box.

It can post emoticons. Not sure about pictures. I know you can post them using BBCode.
-
OK..I enable it again. We'll give it a few days and see what the consensus is. It has some advantages over the other chat room. Primarily it is easier to use, no logging in and out and it should work for everybody regardless of what device they are connecting with. The downside is that it doesn't have the slick look of the other one.
-
The thing is, we already have a chat room. We really don't need two. This one is better in that it will work from phones, iPads, etc. but it's not as pretty as the one we currently use. If there is a vote, it will come down to one or the other. I think that having two would be too confusing.

I can set the permissions to be viewable by everyone. Many of those "guests" are bots though.
