2nd gear repair parts cost?
Marcarl replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't exactly remember what it cost but my memory tells me about 400 to 500 dollars, but then I did everything in site. All new gaskets, new thrust washer, new coolant hoses, new o-rings for the oil pump etc, rebuilt the clutch slave, new valve cover gaskets, and I replaced 2 transmission bearings that I figured weren't as good as when they were new. -
I think it's time that we all start looking after Mini. Don't know how to plan this one out yet, but me thinks that somehow we could have someone watching her, day and night. There's just no need for one of our members to be in such dire straights as that and nobody close at hand to bail her out. Maybe we could post some ideas and then have a poll to see what to do about this dilemma.

So where is this place called Texas,,, seems a good place to avoid, if they have to send out keys and passports to get folks to come there.

Awesome,,,,,,,after riding all day yesterday it was getting tired but holding it in a bent postion for most of the day,, off and on,,,, it feels much improved over last week. So it was a good thing I think,,,yesterday that is. The problem wasn't the strength, it was that I could not bend it, but that is now fixed,,,, mostly. Really enjoyed yesterday, even the meal and company at the end.

Clutch Slave Cylinder Question
Marcarl replied to wes0778's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That being a very slow leak, it could be blowing it's way to the back of what's behind it on the bottom of your scoot. If you haven't serviced the slave cylinder yet, now may be a good time and I think you'll discover that it will be quite damp down there. -
Bummer, I sat through my vacation and that ain't no picnic, but you got electric problems as well. Wish you the best in both cases. Carl

Camera worked good for the first two pictures, and Mary looks real good. Congrats, young fella, after all you're going to have to feel younger again to chase all those upcoming grand kids. Congrats to Matt and Val as well. Wish them the best life has to give.

Check your headset,,,,where the mic plugs into the helmet unit, check the pins in the joning plugs and then also where the cord joins in the bike cord. Check all the pins to be sure they are not bent.

You know of course that he 'cuts' the lawn, but mostly there is a short circuit in the front lawn, and then that job's done,,, maybe that's what he does with the other work as well. He does ride as well,,,even somethimes on a Fat Boy,,, but he'll have to tell that story.

I would think that your a liitle lean, try doing the same while squirting some WD40 down the throat of the carbs. If this fixes the problem somewhat you're too lean so you have to open the idle mixture screws a little and so have to make adjustments all the way around. Question though, did you clean the idle circuit or just wash the carbs in place with cleaner?

Charlie??????????? you thinking that may be more stable in the water????????? maybe you should look at having some floats attached to the side of your scoot,,, you could even put some wheels under the floats just to make it a bit more useable.

Battery for first gen?
Marcarl replied to elag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't know if an Odessey is available in Ontario, but I bought my gel battery at TSC and am plenty happy with it. Lots of power and it don't leak. The other thing you can look at is to install a ground cable from the engine to the frame. There seems to be a lack of those in our machines and that quite often helps with all the starting and charging issues. And as mentioned, make sure all connections are super clean, and tight. -
For sure in our prayers, keep us posted, it's awesome when we can experience God's hand at work.

Better go help him Scot, he'll never figure it out on his own. And Charlie, don't worry your head over it, if it gets to cold to crank, you'll be to cranky to get old.

Help figure out this rear brake mess on '87 VR.

Maybe let's take a look at the left, pumpkin side of the swing arm, if that's not square, you would have problems. -
