  1. FSTMAX that was it exactly. Thanks for posting the picture. John never did say that it had a name . I thought it was a one off custome job. Thanks for the great find!
  2. Yesterday I drove up to John Furbur's shop outside of Allen Town PA to get a new rear with the Vmax gears. What a nice guy to deal with. He must have 50 plus bikes in his shop and gave me the royal tour. He went through the history of almost every bike. 200 + MPH crotch rockets with turbos, his Ford 5.0 V8 bike, some special Italian sports bike that at 12 years old was a head of it's time, and of course tons of Vmaxs. He also has a RSV minus the trunk all tricked out. It is lowered, has drag type handle bars and a large diameter after mart exhaust system that only the mufflers are the slip on part. I asked him who made the pipes, but now with CRS I can't rember. Then he takes me out side, opens up a trailer and says this is what I just went to CA to buy for 2K. At first I thought it was a boat. But no a custom 2 seated body made out of aluminum, a steering wheel, 2 wheels in front and one in the rear with Vmax motor in front and Vmax rear in back. He takes it out of the trailer, starts it up and then says" take it around the block I can't fit in it until I move the steering wheel". He is a very tall/big guy. I'm sorry I wish I would have brought a camera along. Hey Freebrid any chance you could email John and ask him to send you a picture of that thing so you could post it on the site? Well hopefully this weekend I'll get the new rear installed, Also a big thank You to Freebird and Sleeperhawk for their excellent write ups on removing the rear and greasing the swing arm. They came in real handy while taking the rear end of the bike apart.
  3. Yes you can if you have it on cruise control
  4. I went to BikeOctoberFest last year and stayed in Palm Cost about 30 miles or so above Daytona. I live by Dulles airport in Virginia. I left my house at 4 AM and it took me 16 hours straight down 95. I didn't hit hardly any traffic but it poured from the NC border all the way to FL. On the way home it took me 14 hours and it rained from GA all the way back to VA. I'd say 95 wasn't a bad drive. I put it on cruise and stayed under 70 MPH for the most part. The worst part was the coyote that run right out in front of me in NC on 95 on cruise at 70 MPH. I almost had to change my pants. Not that I have ever seen a coyote but I swear it wasn't a dog or fox.
  5. I have the 765T and really like it. The Bluetooth and built in MP3 player were just what I was looking for in a GPS. I have a 16 GIG card in mine with almost every CD I own on it. The first thing I did was get the Buddy Rich patch cable. He is a member here and I think he has an ad for the cables. What his patch cable does is allow you to connect into the microphone port on the 765T and into the audio cables inside the ferring. This then allows you to use a 5 pin head set to answer your Bluetooth capable phone. I also have a stereo cable from the 765T head phone jack to the mp3 port in the casset deck and can then listen to music through the head phone set when the audio is set to AUX. I bought a Ram Mount for the 765T and mounted it on the handle bars. As far as rain proofing a quart baggie works just fine for me. I don't have any pictures but maybe others will jump in with some for you.
  6. Thanks guys, I was leaning towards just wrapping the wires in black electical tape and running then along the outside of the fender. To try and drill a whole through the fender and run the wires that way sure seens like it would hae been a lot of extra work.
  7. The kit I bought has a sub harness which plugs in under the seat to the existing RSV plug. Then there was the 5 wire to 4 wire converter harness which plugged in to that. Then another harness which connects to the 5 to 4 converter and it has the long wires which then go back to the hitch area and it also has a 15 amp fuse to connect to the battery. I was looking for the best way to route the wires from tha last harness back to the hitch area, inside or outside the rear fender. Also the 5 to 4 wire converter and the last harness have these big black brick like things with the wires coming out of them wich are too big for under the seat.
  8. For those of you that have trailer wiring harnes, where did you route all the wires? Did you drill a whole on the rear fender to run then inside the fender or run them some how along the outside of the to the hitch? I bought a plug and play set up that connects under the seat. Thanks
  9. Ditto on every thing Lone Eagle said. I was going 65 MPH with my wife on the back when my front tire went out because of the valve stem. Only get the all medal valve stems. The one's I found on the internet were Yamaha racing ones. The were guarenteed for 10 years and said not to replace them with the next tire change.
  10. OOPS! guess I didn't read for enough in the first post.
  11. For those of us that can't make maintanance day and mailed you back our bad clutch springs from the kit, will you be mailing us our new springs? Thanks
  12. Yes I have the volume set to 100% on the 765T. If I turn the IC volume all the way down the music and directions sound great through the 765T but I can't hear my wife through the headphones then.
  13. I have the Garmin 765T and have just noticed some thing. I have the Buddy rich cable installed in the fairing and an AUX splitter. I ran the AUX cable to the head phone jack on the 765T and the small microphone cable from the Buddy Rich cables to the microphone jack in the cradle. If the IC volume is turned up high all I hear a lot of static and can hardly hear the MP3 music or the GPS directions. Turning the IC volume down makes the music and directions sound clear but then through the IC I can't hear my wife on the head set and she can't hear me. As far as the Bluetoothand the phone I couldn't hear the person calling me but they could hear me OK. Before getting the new 765T I had an old Garmin 330 Street Pilot and my MP3 playes plugged into the Casette AUX port and no Buddy Rich cable set up or AUX splitter. The 330 wasn't hooked up to the bikes audio so most times I couldn't hear the directions but the IC was just fine with the MP3 player in the AUX port. Any one have any ideas why the IC is interfearing with the MP3 sound and GPS directions?
  14. I just got one in my issue of Handy Man that came in the mail yesterday.
  15. Get the Buddy Rich cable. I have the Garmin 765T and the cable works just great for me. It plugs inside the faring into the audio cables and into the microphone port in the Garmin. I used an Aux splitter from radio shack also in the faring that plugs into the Garmin headphone jack. I have AUX set on the bike and can hear the music from the MP3 player as well as the directions from the Garmin. The music stops as the Garmin gives directions. I paired my cell phone up with the Garmin so when a call comes in I just have to touch the screen to answer the call all through my helmet headset.
  16. I don't do a lot of night riding but on the way back from BikeOctober fest in Florida back to Virginia I could have sworn my display looked a blueish green. But then again I was tired after 14 hours in the saddle and it was way past my bed time!!!!
  17. I'm not having any audio problems yet with my 765T. But the one I got for Xmas, the battery will no longer charge. I've only used it a few times on the bike since then and I fully charged it before the first use. I'm wondering if there are a lot of problems with this model Garmin.
  18. Earl, Sending mine back to you in the mail today. I just need the clutch spring. I did not install it yet. Thanks Kim Woodworth
  19. Earl, Just wondering if you had an update on the shipping of the clutch kits. Thanks KA Woodworth
  20. I have just installed the Buddy Rich cable and before I put the faring back together I have a question. The MP3 player works and sounds just great through my helmet headphones with the volune on the bike audio system set fairly low arounf 6 or so but when I answer a phone call I had to turn the volume up all the way to 30 in order to hear the call. I have the volume set to 100% on the Garmin and the volume on my Motorolla razor phone up al the way. Any one have any ideas why I cant hear the phone call without turning the volume up all the way on the bike?
  21. Hey Ruffy, met you at the meet and eat during Bikeoctober Fest 2009. We got 32 inches of snow here in Herndon Virginia. I shoveled half a day yesterday and all day today and they are calling for more snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. My wife and I are about to sell the house and move to Florida!!!!!
  22. Better yet, get a Garmin Nuvi 765T (about 240.00 all said and done) which has a built in MP3 player which can use a SD card. I got a 16 Gig SD card and loaded every CD I own and still had 4 Gig left over for other things the garmin can store. Then I got the Buddy Rich cable since this model Garmin is BlueTooth ready, so I can answer phone calls from my cell phone through my helmet head set. This model Garmin also has a head set output, so I use a cable to hook into my MP3 jack in the cassette player to listen to the Garmin MP3 player through the bikes audio system. Now if it will ever warm up enough (I don't have a heated garage) I'll break the faring apart and hook the Buddy Rich cable up!
  23. My wife bought a Wolverine F2D 35MM film to Digital Converter at Costco. It was only about 100.00. It did a great job of converting all of he Dad's old 35mm slides from when she was a child. Model # F2D100, WWW.Wolverinedata.com It comes with a SD card and is a stand alone no computer or special software required. I also has a USB port to upload them to a computer.
  24. Sleeperhawlk, Did you buy or have your trailer hitch cargo carrier made? I have been looking for one to fit the VentureDad trailer hitch. I've only seen one for sale that fits a Gullwing in the J&P catalog and it was pretty expensive even for the small sized one. Thanks
  25. Me at the mini 2009 Ashville rally.
