  1. Count me in. I had a great time last year except for the flat tire on the way home. Can't wait till April!
  2. I sent him a check for mine a little over a month ago and the hitch showed up a week later. Maybe it's just because it's close to Xmas.
  3. Kirby Get a hold of Carbon One. At the 2009 Skid in he show me his trunk latch which he had lengthened so the trunk would open farther. You couldn't tell that the latch wasn't stock. He did a fantastic job. Shoot him an email and he might be willing to lengthen yours.
  4. So this is the cool wave then!
  5. Kim, glad that ya made it there!-----it's still 'liquid sunshine' here-------hopefully will b better on Fri. and I'll hit the road-----it sure took ya a long time from Northern Va. to get there---16 hrs??????:sun1:------I guess it takes them ther 2nd Gens. a while to get-up to speed???????????? Hey it rained from N.C all the way to FL. I stayed under 70 since I could hardly see through the wind shield, and besides it true 2nd Gens suck gas like crazy any thing over 70 MPH. Hope to see you on Saturday, drive safely!
  6. Well it was a really long ride but I made it to Florida. I'm at the Microtel in Palm Coast. I left Northern Va at 4am and arrived at Palm Coast at 8 PM. It rained from Noth Carolina all the way to Florida. When I left VA it was low 40'S and when I got to Florida it was in the 80's, multiple changes of riding gear along the way. I'm just glad to be here safe and sound. Two small gliches on the way down. Just before Eporiam Va I swear a coyote ran across 95 and I thought there was no way I wouldn't hit it but thank goodness I didn't. It wasn't redish brown like a Fox and I'm positive it wasn'r a dog, it was long and skiny and grey, just too weird. Then no more than a few minutes later the cruise control turns off. I grab the throttle and nothing. I get over to the sholder and then when I press the start button, nothing...I sat there for a good 10 minutes turing the ignition on and off and the kill switch on and off mulitiple time and nothing. Then all of a sudden it started then no more problems from then on. I sure hope my Iginition switch isn't going south..ha ha, my bike is a 2007 with less than 20K miles. Well tomorrow I think I'll go to Main Street in Daytona and check things out then Friday maybe head over to Destination Daytona and the Daytona Speedway. See everyone Sat at the First Turn for the meet & eat.
  7. Be very careful. My front valve stem was cracked and leaking and I did not know it and had a front tire blow out at 65 mph. I found some yamaha racing valve stems on the internet. They were all medal and angled for easy filling and checking and had a nut that screwed on from inside the rim to keep the stem in tight. They weren't cheap but had a 10 year warrenty. They were 32 bucks for 2. The sad thing is the front and rear stems are different and don't interchange.
  8. The cradel for the Garmin 765T has a port for an external microphone. Does any one know if the external microphone cable for the Garmin could be wired into the 5 pin cable on the 2G so that you can use a regular head set microphone instead of a Blurtooth enabled head set and a Zumo 550 setup? The 765T is so much cheaper than the Zumo 550, so if you could still make a hands free phone call that would be ideal.
  9. Thanks for the info guys. I'll definately be at the First Turn for lunch on Saturday.
  10. Can someone tell me if the vendors are pretty much set up by Thrusday 10/15/2009 on Main Street or is Friday 10/16/2009 a better day to check things out. The Biketoberfest web site says there is also stuff going on at the speedway. Is there an entrance fee for stuff that goes on out there? This will be the first time I've gone to Daytona so I'm not familiar with the event.

  12. Mine was really strange, the valvestem stayed in the rim, but because of it leaking due to being cracked all tire pressure was lost. When I stopped we pumped the tire back up with one of those small portable air pumps to about 30 pounds before the accessory plug fuse blew. We checked the tire all the way around and couldn't find a thing. That's when we poured some water around the bead and then the valvestem. The tire bead was fine but bubbles were coming from around the valvestem. My bike was one year old, a 07 RSV when I bought it and it had Avons on it that looked brand new, so I would assume the valvestem wasn't very old either. I just think those tall angled valvestems are junk.
  13. Mine had a chrome angled stem but the but right outside and inside the rim it was rubber. That is what had the cracks in it. I didn't hear it but the people behind me said they heard a loud bang and then the tire went flat. The new stems I put on are like the ones you described and have the nut on the inside of the rim.
  14. I had the same thing happen to me last year at the Gettysburg Pa Meet & Eat. Heading back home on route 15 just after Frederick Md, 65 MPH two up and the front valve stem goes out. Luckly enough I was able to stop the bike safely on the sholder. I ordered some Yamaha racing valvestems off the internet. The are the angled kind but are made of all medal and have a 10 year guarentee.
  15. Made my reservations yesterday evening. I'll be there late Wednesday 10/14 and leave early Sunday 10/18. I'm going to ride straight through from northern VA. I booked a place at the Microtel in Palm Coast. The rates were a little bit cheaper than trying to stay at Daytona proper. The meet and eat at the First Turn Steak House on Saturday sounds great. See everyone there around noonish.
  16. I think that same little boy show up at the Ashville rally last week. One ot two will know what I'm talking about.
  17. German sounds great to me. I'm staying at the Super 8 in Black Mountian and will arrive some time late in the afternoon probably arounf 4 or 5 pm on Thrusday the 9th.
  18. I got a Morgan Carbatune a while back and would really like to have some one show me how to set it up and do a carb sync on my 2007 2nd gen.
  19. 1. When do you expect to arrive? I will arrive on Thrusday afternoon, I have reservations at the Microtel, Gassaway. I figured after I checked in the motel I'd head on over and lend a hand getting things set up for the picnic. 2. How many to expect for the picnic Thursday evening? Just myself
  20. I don't wear gloves in the summer and my Kuryakyn grips turn my hands black. I assume it is from the sweat on my hands. I've washed the grips but that doesn't seem to help.
  21. Does that Ram Mount # RAM-B-346CU mount on the top of your brake resivoir? In the picture is hard to see where it mounts.
  22. Just took mine off yesterday evening and yep the inner pad was worn about half way and the outer pad looked like new. I have a little over 14K on my 2007 RSV. I'm switching the pads around and hope to get at least another 14K out of them.
  23. Back on Feb 28th I ordered the jacket ($166.00)and the pants($112.00). I ordered a size 40 jacket and 32 pants which are my sizes, when they arrives I could hardly raise my arms with the jacket zipped up and could hardly button the pants. I sent them back and reordered the next sizes up. I'm still waiting for them to arrive. I should have known better to order a little bit larger jacket and pants the first time.
  24. On the way back from the 1st PA meet & Eat in Gettysburg I had a front tire go out at 65 MPH. Thank goodness I was able to get the bike to the sholder. I was riding 2 up with my wife and the last few seconds were really rough. Turns out I had a leaking valve stem. The guys behind me said they heard a loud bang. I didn't hear it but felt the front end getting heavier and hard to steer until the violent shaking started. It was one of the 90 degree ones but with a rubber seal both inside and outside the rim. I found a 90 degree angle valve stem with a 10 year warranty on the internet that is going in this weekend. So my words of wisdom...even though the tires look fine and have the right pressure check the darn valve stems.
  25. Then from this day forward a proclamation shall be made and ye shall be know to all as "Duke" aka Riderduke aka David!!!!!
