  1. Sorry....I should have also stipulated non-OEM lights.
  2. In my search for additional front lights I have YET to see any lights labeled as "Passing Lights"...........Everything I have seen indicates either "Fog Lamps" or "Driving Lights" on the box. IMHO "Fog Lamps" are ideal when mounted low (on the Venture crash bars) to project a good 3-point triangle of light for oncoming traffic to see. The "Driving Lights" do a great primary job of lighting up the road when used with the headlight High Beam....and a secondary job to warn a vehicle in front when you are about to pass them......if the vehicle driver is not asleep at the wheel.
  3. I do whatever I have to do to avoid steel plates on the road. If need be it is safer to walk the bike across them.....and I have done just that while using my 4-way Flashers.....Traffic be damned.
  4. Based on everything I have read from members here I went with a Garmin Street Pilot 2720 for my 1st GPS on the bike. Paid less than $125 on E-Bay for a reconditioned unit. Has the same Warranty as a new unit! I'm no whiz when it comes to GPS either; and the cost of the Garmin 550 and higher priced Garmin units was a little too much for my wallet. Additionally I don't need all the bells and whistles that can be had with the higher cost units. I just need something to get me there and back home without getting me totally lost in the process........and anyone who knows me will verify that I have a track record for getting lost once I am out of State! LOL!
  5. Saddle Soap will clean up the leather like new....Tractor Supply carries several brands but they all work the same.
  6. Windex to clean off the bugs......Lemon Pledge to polish EVERYTHING on the bike.
  7. The "Wreaths Across America" convoy is escorted by Patriot Guard Riders from Maine all the way to Arlington each year. As the convoy passes through each State it is "handed off" to the Patriot Guard Riders of each State. This year the convoy includes four 18 wheelers full of Wreaths for our Hero's at Arlington. There will be an estimated 1500 folks at Arlington who stand ready to place the Wreaths at grave sites. When you meet Merrill Worcester (and his entire family who are on the convoy as well) I can assure you that he is an amazingly humble Patriot who you will never forget. To those Patriot Guard Riders riding WAA Escort: Ride Safe Brothers and Sisters. RI and CT Riders: See you on the Escort!
  8. I hope the pup grows up to be a Saint Bernard anyway......then we will have the last laugh!!
  9. It is because of feedback from members here that I also chose to go with Garmin. Today my Ram Mount arrived and it fits my bike perfectly. My Garmin GPS is on its way and should be here by Friday. I ordered the Street Pilot 2720. I still plan to keep my Google Map directions(on paper) as a back-up for my out-of-State Patriot Guard Ride Missions. The upside for me is no more grease pencil directions on the windshield! LOL! And yes it certainly appears that Garmin stands solidly behind its product and is very Customer Service oriented!!
  10. Hope this helps you......... Per Rick Butler: And everything you need to ship me your seat is in my ad in the Classified section: http://www.venturerider.org/classifi...ate/1157932426
  11. Yesterday there were 30 of us who gathered and hit the road. Outside temp was at 42F with lots of sunshine. We made pit stops every hour so no one got cold. Capped off the run at a nice food joint in RI....All you can eat roasted chicken,home-made french fries,salad,fresh-baked rolls, and pasta....$15 per person......served up Family style! Riding a Venture on a full stomach is the only way to go.... Today outside temp is 30F and ice pellets/snow are covering everything out there.
  12. I put the Barons 4-2-4's on my Venture last year. They were not overly loud at first but man they are loud now. I normally ride solo so I don't have to worry about the sound beating a passenger's eardrums. Even as loud as they are the tunes from my Ipod come through loud and clear. Baron's also offers a nice selection of tips which can go on the end of all 4 pipes. Regardless of what gear or speed you are at they will hear you coming and going with those 4-2-4's.....and that is exactly what suits me fine.
  13. 54 to 70 is cold? Yer kidding right? We are seeing 20-30f here in Noo England and I know of at least 100 riders who would pay good money to see those temps up here! We have a day long ride set up for Saturday and the high temp of only 43f is predicted.....Some folks just don't know when they have it good!LOL!!!
  14. I don't think diesel fuel will burn as cleanly as kerosene.....
  15. If I had shorter legs I would be riding a 1st Gen today. The 2 that I test rode convinced me that the 2nd Gen was the scoot for me. I have put over 14K on my 06 (since Nov-2007) even with missing 70 days of riding this year due to injuries from my crash in July this year. IMHO all Ventures are great bikes for Touring and everyday riding.....once ya get past the whine/chirp! LOL!
  16. Today I spent a few minutes on E-Bay bidding on a Garmin Streetpilot 2720. The price was at $55 when I started bidding. There must be some kind of "Auto Bidder" set up for the Seller because every time I put in a bid my price was quickly beat by a fast bid. Anywhoooo....I quit bidding at $100 and purchased the Unit via a "Buy it Now" price of $119 + Free Shipping. I just checked and the Unit I was bidding on sold for $139 with additional Shipping charges to be applied! LOL! I guess some folks have more money than common sense when it comes to E-Bay!LOL!
  17. Question........Using the 12volt adapter can we plug the GPS into the 12volt acc plug which is located on the inside left of the fairing?
  18. No more than 10mph over the posted speed limit anytime. And I always leave early enough to allow myself ample time to reach my destination if its something other than a casual ride. Tickets are expensive in my neck of the woods! Being simply courteous/polite to the Officer who stops me, plus being honest, has saved my bacon more than once when I wuz younger and harder on the throttle.
  19. If Yammi comes out with a 3rd Gen RSV with all these features that would be great..... Considering the direction our economy is headed will have a big influence on all new bike sales over the next 2-3 years....and IMHO that translates to lower MSRP's to get the scoots off the Dealer lots.
  20. I'd like to see a pic of that bike with the Metallic Diablo Black paint.....and the MSRP as well. It sure looks good so far..........
  21. Oven roasted turkey on Thursday.....Deep fried turkey on Friday.....and if the weather is willing I'm headed for the hills on the scoot. Let the amateurs shop themselves silly....next couple of weeks before Christmas all that stuff will be on sale cheaper than Black Friday!
  22. Anyone using this model of GARMIN GPS? I have the chance to get a new one for $120. Before tossing the $$$ out I'd appreciate any honest feedback on this model. Regards.......Boomer
  23. The name alone would be enuff to have me running the other way.....Did the guy mention pond monsters perchance as well?
  24. That dude will be eating good this Winter!
