pegscraper......The Ipod Shuffle has nearly all the features as a full sized Ipod....except....there is NO screen & light. Because of that you get 20+ hours of run time with the Shuffle vice 4-5 hours with the regular Nano Ipod. You can sign on to ITunes free of charge and maintain your own personal music library at their Site. The songs you purchase are in your library. You can listen to them anytime while on your computer, download them to any Ipod at any time ,and even download them to your own CD. Also you can download songs from your personal CD's to the Ipod as well. The fee you pay for each song is by right a legal Royalty Fee which goes to the recording artist I think. Paying that fee gives you the right to listen to the song as many times as you wish and download the song into your personal devices. Because I have my favorite tunes on the Shuffle it matters not to me what order they play in. I merely set the Shuffle to repeat play the entire playlist and away I go.

Yes the jack hole is visible on the front of the Cass player after you flip down the face plate. Look on the RIGHT side as you are looking at the Cass player.

Bought one for less than $50 via Amazon.com Bought the 1/8" double-male connector cord from Radio Shack for less than $4 Down loaded tunes I wanted from I Tunes....for $1 a song. Set Audio System on bike to AUX. Clipped Ipod inside my jacket and plugged in connector from Ipod to the jack on the Cass Player. Great tunes....Great sound.....and I control the Volume from my Audio handlebar unit too. ***Freebird told me about the Ipod set-up.....I took it a step further by going with the Ipod Shuffle which does not need a tank holder due to the neat pocket clip that comes on the unit. Life is good............

When you order the tires it is possible to specify to the Seller that he check these dates and not send you old tires. Considering the safety aspect of MC tires I for one don't think it is an unreasonable request to make to any Seller of MC tires. It is obvious that the tire Industry will not police itself in this aspect so it is up to us as Consumers to demand that the tires we buy are in fact safe and reliable to the highest degree possible.

Good info posted on tire info! I think the old Rule here of "Buyer Beware" is certainly applicable. I cannot imagine any MC Dealer being offended by a Buyer objecting to having OLD tires put on a bike. If that Dealer is offended I'll be headed for the door and looking to spend my $$$ on tires elsewhere. It is our $$$ that determines the success or failure of any MC Dealer. This Internet gives us all the capability to warn fellow Riders of lousy Dealers and/or lousy Service Dept.'s as well.

Thanks Ponch! All info provided is clear as a bell. I really like your set-up and have been looking for ways to do the very thing. IMHO you have nailed it down very nicely. Regards.........Boomer -
That is self-abuse for sure!

My main resolution is one that I have been working on for the past 3 years......Trying to be more tolerant and less cynical of people I come in contact with! I am not PC and have a low tolerance for stupidity and this makes my resolution somewhat difficult to achieve. I will go far out of my way to help anyone..... but when they pee on my boots I tend to get outspoken and quite a bit harsh in my verbal terminology towards them. Boomer.....who will never be perfect.

Nice set-up there Ponch!! Questions: 1) Is that a custom made bracket for the lights on the trunk? 2) Did you lose your helmet holders by using this set-up? Any info/part #'s you could supply would be greatly appreciated!! Regards.........Boomer -
According to a Marine Pilot: In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be transiting Iranian airspace. This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type aircraft, and points of origin and destination. I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai. It's too good not to pass along. The conversation went something like this... Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.' Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace. ' Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!' Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!' Air Defense Radar: (no response ... total silence) :D

No doubt that snow is something rarely seen that far South! Twenty years ago I drove my car from Connecticut to New Orleans to visit family. It was mid-Winter so I put a brand new set of snow tires on the car for the trip. A few days after getting there my Dad borrowed my car to do errands and test drive it. He returned within 20 minutes. Told me there was a loud whine coming from the rear end and we better plan on tearing into the rear axle and find out what the hell was wrong. I laughed myself silly cuz I knew it was those snow tires creating the whine. My Dad never drove that car again......LOL!

If Yammi puts a Ham Radio on the 3rd Gen Venture I might well consider doing just that....... -
CB Question
BoomerCPO replied to algie1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm wondering if the FCC even monitors CB radio usage. They stopped requiring CB Licenses years ago. I sometimes monitor the truckers channel and the language I hear makes even an old salt like me cringe.......... -
Put yourself onna slippery slope for sure......... I'll let ya know if I take the hook on that new Kaw after I check it out in person next month. Not getting rid of my Midnight Venture tho!!

Hey Silver there's nothing wrong with having more than one horse in the stable.....as long as the wife stays out of the stable of course.
-
Not a bad price for what the bike looks like in pics and such. The real test will come when folks can sit/test ride the bike;look it over good for details; and of course any give-aways the Kaw Dealers can throw into the mix. Can't wait to see one. Our local Kaw Dealer says he has 2 of them due in January.....Good enuff reason to get out of the house....even if I have to shovel snow to get to the truck.

Most truck stops have a decent merchandise store on the premises. Makes for a nice shopping trip! You'd be amazed at the leather bargains, sunglasses, etc. that you can find there. Regards........Boomer -
Those engine guards straighten up easily with a little foot pressure. (Don't ask me how I know that.) To the best of my knowledge the Fairing is the same color all through. When my bike went down in July the left side took deep scratches/scrapes from the asphalt and the color still showed black.

I have the Ram Mount for the 2720 as well. The problem is that the GPS has a mounting bracket (made for a vehicle dashboard) that cannot be removed thus preventing me from putting it in the Ram Mount. No big deal to me as I put the 2720 in my truck and ordered a MC specific Garmin and a Ram Holder as well. The Ram Mount fits the bike perfectly I might add. *****I just noticed that the holder you have for your 2720 looks nothing like the one which came with my Ram Mount. Seems Garmin scrooed up!! Again no big deal....My truck like the 2720! LOL!

Most LEO's do not know what is OEM and what is after-market on these bikes. Unless you put lights on that are blatantly illegal, such as blue/red/white strobes, you should have no problem with LEO's. This opinion should not be construed as offensive or insulting to any LEO. They all do one hell of a job out there and IMHO have more concerns to deal with than what type of bulbs you have in your brake/signal lights. -
I'm with you Condor on using GPS. Having said that tho I will be glad to have it on my Venture. I do Patriot Guard Missions covering 8 States of the New England Region. Using paper maps with grease pencil directions on the windshield is no fun! I have to get to the Mission Staging Area by a specific time and getting lost is not a viable option for me. For routine riding I have no use for GPS because getting lost is part of the riding enjoyment for me. Regards.........Boomer
