  1. Aside from all the mechomical replys.... You might also check the clutch rods to make sure you have them installed properly. There's a flat end on both the short and long rod. That flat end goes against the ball. The rods will bind in the tube if you have the round ends against the ball. Don't ask me how I know that... Also... i can see it, but can't name it..... there's a nut and bearing that holds the boss on. One or the other is cut out so one fits over the other...hey it's been a while.... and if it isn't installed right it will hold the presure plate away from the plates.... no clutch..... Also gotta ask. Are you saying that your not getting any resistence from the lever, or it's binding and you can't move it???
  2. No where in all that hype did I see any mention of expected miles per gallon. Can't be that good............
  3. Bet the mud would roll right off........:rotf:
  4. The OEM is over 4' long. When the OEM get's stuck it's a bear to get it unstuck. I usually cover the base with a towel and take a pair of channel locks to it.... gently... It'll usually starts to turn with little effort. Once moving it's a piece of cake. Here's a couple of pics of an OEM antenna base. Rather than a grommet the cover I mentioned has about a 10" velcro slit that lets the antenna move forward or back as needed.
  5. Saw this new product listing another board. With Rain-X being harmfull to shields, and being discussed in the past in several threads, I thought Raincoat might be something to look into for those riding in the rain. http://www.motosolutions.com/ Here's a short video. Looks pretty good to me.. Hope the link works. http://76.12.111.23/Videos/RaincoatDemo.wmv
  6. If it doesn't have a center loaded coil about half way up it's an aftermarket. They do make a cover that has an opening for the antenna. I see tham on Ebay for about 25-35 bucks.
  7. I think I'm gonna wait and see what a 3rdGen is gonna look like..... Besides that I'm broke....
  8. Gimme a call the next time you're in town.... We'll go get some...
  9. Ha!! That's right... Forgot about those donuts. Miss the coffee and BS sessions....
  10. Carbtunes are from the UK. Wearing in of cables on a new bike etc. shouldn't effect the sync. All the sync does is get all carbs to work in unison by adjusting the linkage. When I ordered mine online I received it in 10 days....
  11. Did you know that I had to use one of those during Easter dinner to open a few bottles of Martelli's Sparkling Cider..... I wanted to go out and use the bumper of the truck, but got a dirty look from the wife.....
  12. Geeze Buddy....was that Texas Mud....? Glad you had a walk-a-way..
  13. We've become a cashless/credit based society living above our means. The bubble has burst, and the dominos are falling......
  14. Sure that wasn't the camera falling off......
  15. If all else fails you're gonna have to take out the CPU in the dash and resolder the pc board. Or.... pic up another dash off Ebay and swap out the whole dash. My '83 only had high beam, which seems to be a fairly common ailment. I had planned on doing to solder mod, but found a low mile dash and swapped the whole dash. Took about an hour. I now have full function on the head light, plus a lot newer bike becasue the odometer had about 15,000 less on it. just so no one thinks I'm pulling a fast one, I wrote the milage of both odometers on the back side of the dash before installing it.....
  16. Congrats Bucky........
  17. Hipshot Percushion.....
  18. Three things come to mind. #1 friction inhanced oil at your last change. #2 need to bleed the brakes ,and make sure the reserve isn't over full. #3 clutch job new friction discs and springs.

    Trailer D-Ring

Anywhere in the vicinity of the rear tire. All they do is keep the rear tire from shifting to one side or the other. Just make sure the front tire is secured in the chock and secured to the front of the trailer somewhere. Spring lines can be used if you're concerned with back and forth movement, but not absolutely neccessary.
  20. Once in a while one will pop up on Ebay. A lot of sellers list the reflector as a light, but every so often one shows up with wiring coming out of the housing...
  21. Amen bro...
  22. Looks pretty clean in there, but from the pic it looks like #1 manifold clamp is missing??
  23. Was it the stator cover or the smaller middle gear cover? Something we do when caulking a boat is place toothpicks in the caulk bead. It keeps it from getting squeezed out. And did it have a gasket?
  24. When I got the '91 home and had a chance to pop the hood I found the top of an air box that looked like a piece of swiss cheese.... with a K&N filter. The thing ran a little rough when I first looked at it, and thought it needed a good sync and plugs, but I slapped on another box top and it smoothed right out. Pitched the holey one into the trash. I also run a K&N filter on the '83 and '87. Never found a need to punch holes in them either.
  25. No need this time Cindy....I hope!! Tell Dale to keep the charger plugged in....
