  1. I yelled, but it didn't do any good...........
  2. I my opinion that was the leading cause for the accident. He couldn't see the car because he was to busy splitting lanes and the driver of the car couldn't see him coming out from behind my truck. Actuall when he excellerated out of the split if he'd have pulled into the LH lane in front of me nothing would have happened, but he pulled into the RH lane and then when he finally noticed the car it was too late and he went farther right instead of going left. Inexperience and testosterone...
  3. Piggy Backer..........
  4. I just witnessd one of the worst MC vs Car accidents I've ever seen. It happened right in front of me. I'm south bound on Fair Oaks blvd in Carmichael, in the LH lane with the left hand turn signal on getting ready pull into the middle lane to turn left onto Kenneth, and a rider on what looked like a middle sized Honda v-twin split the lane to my right between my truck and another car that was in the RH lane. Up ahead a north bound car was in the process of making a left hand turn into some apartments. The rider didn't see the car, and the driver couldn't have seen the rider because of where he was coming from. I sat right there and watched him bury the bike into the left turning car. The rider launched down the street 30-40 feet over the top of the car. Pieces of the bike went everywhere, and then it caught on fire. All that's was left of the bike after the FD arrived and put the fire out was a black lump. It took about 15 minutes for the FD and Amb to arrive and the rider never moved. I thought he was dead, but the EMT did talk to him while he was laying there. The rider had a helmet on, and what looked like a riding jacket but I can't be certain. Whew!!!!
  5. The last day to get your money in for the Odyssey's will be April 25th. For those of you sending payments via snail mail my address is: Jack Chalais PO BOX 8 CARMICHAEL CA 95609-0008 Paypal payment information and prices are in the first post of this thread. 6. I PM'd ya JB.....
  7. OK, a quick up date on the oil adapter. After crunching the numbers the savings wouldn't have been much better than buying an adapter right off Ebay. The Ebay price is $69.95 + $9.00 shipping. The best I could do with 10 being shipped to me and distributed out of here was $73.50 total. You'd save $6.50. Really not worth it. Sorry to get a few folks stirred up, but we tried...... Here's a copy of the email I received: Jack Thanks anyway, being hand made it's not practical to bring the price down any more. Ebay is ok, and there is built in buyer protection (not that we need it) but many may feel more comfortable that way. Of course they can still save 6 bucks buying direct. bob hagerman And I suppose if you contacted Bob by email at huntech2006@yahoo.ca you could save a few bucks. I'm still working on the brace buy
  8. When syncing the carbs you're supposed to set the idle screw when engine is up to operating temp. I'd think about a carb sync.
  9. My '83 was doing the same thing. Pulled the radio panel and cleaned the connector pulgs. Male and female, and was very careful when putting the panel back in. The problem seems to have gone away.
  10. Anyone interested in a spin on oil filter adapter for their 1stGen, hang loose for a bit. I'm working on a group buy with an adapter manufacture. We're just now ironing out the pricing details. More coming shortly..... PS: I'm also swapping emails with a supplier of fork braces.... PPS: Once the Odyssey group buy is put to bed for this year, I'll be starting a MAC Muffler group.....
  11. Online manual links are avaible for downloading here
  12. We only get earth quakes.... and haven't had a major one of those for quite a while. You can keep those twisters.....
  13. Per GeorgeS' recomendation I went out and tried to find CRC 2-26, but couldn't. What I did end up with is CRC's QD Electronic Cleaner. Works good. The QD is for quick dry... Probably the same stuff???
  14. Don't think so Wayne. Attached are a couple of 83,87, and 91 pics. Looks like the markII has two bolts, while the markI has a bolt and tab. Different trunk rack also....
  15. My son located the choke rod, but now he needs the plastic cap that fits on the rod so the fork linkage can work. Anyone out there have that plastic cup floating around??? They aren't available from Yamaha any longer...

    Enjoy the ride

I'll try back later. The server was overwhelmed......
  17. Those things are always cracking and falling off. I'd check with Yamaha to see it they still offer the boot. Another thought would be to mask off the gimble and spray it with Plasti-Dip rubberized spray to seal out crud....
  18. Sounds like it's going to be one of those 'change lightbulb.....rewire house' summers...
  19. Now that's a WOW!! factor of 10. Not the Spyder..... The website.........
  20. Just a thought. Could it be a timing problem, and the reason the starter relay heats up is that the engine is bogging down so much it's pulling a ton of amps to get it to spin??? Years ago when rebuilding motors you could get the distributor in 180deg out because they hadn't designed offset dogs on the bottom of the shaft. Dang engine would barely turn over.... Just a thought.....
  21. Sounds like you may have keyed the mike without a good antenna connection and blown the transmit finals???
  22. Tell your dad that we get them directly from the distributor. By buying in quantity they extend us dealer pricing. They are not seconds, but the most currently dated batteries on the market. Not something that's been sitting on a dealers shelf for 6 months or more. I might also add that if he's that skeptical, perhaps it might be better if he just went ahead and purchased a battery from his regular local source.
  23. Glad to hear you brought her down safely Brian......
  24. Looks like you've even come up with a better way Rick. Since it was our first time on a 2ndGen, it was trial and error. We don't have that problem on a 1stGen....
  25. S'OK Dan.....
