  1. I doubt it, but you can put a clear coat on anytime. MOF I'm thinking about buffing it out, and then shooting it with a clear coat...or two... Ya can't have everything. I'm going to be on the hook for two of them. One for the '83 and one for the '87. The '91 already had a brace when I bought it, and if I ever get around to rebuilding the '93 it'll get one too. The alternative is popping for one of the Super Braces at $143.95 plus shipping off their website... They may not look as nice as the new Super Braces, but I'm more interested in performance first...looks second, and at less than half the SB they're very affordable. With the economy in the dumpster I would think this brace would be a no brainer.... But, realistically if I can't get enough members interested, it was worth the try....
  2. BJ The OEM's are sort of a domed affair with waffle bracing on the bottom. If your's is a solid block that looks like the pics I posted above then you don't need another. If it looks like the one below, you're a prime candidate....
  3. Anyone else????????????????
  4. By now you've seen the above post, but something else has come to mind, and that is shipping to our Canadian members. I'll try my best to keep the price down, but unfortunately there might be an extra charge tacked on to the total...... That goes for you too Squeeze.....
  5. Gosh how could I have forgotten.... Here ya go Squeeze. http://i10.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/e4/c5/0c81_1.JPG http://i13.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/e4/c5/155e_1.JPG http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/e4/c5/b5dd_1.JPG
  6. You might even try putting the side stand up and down a couple of times... even letting it bang back. Sometimes the side stand switch will stick.
  7. Thanks Eck. Sometimes we forget.....
  8. OK, I'm posting this in the 1stGen Tech section due to it being, like the MAC Mufflers, for 1stGens only. I've traded a few emails and phone calls with the Ebay seller who has been auctioning fork braces, I need to know how many 1stGeners would be interested in doing a group buy. Here's the deal. For an order of 20 his price will be $60ea., and for an order of 40 he'll drop it to $50 per. The shipping will be in bulk to me no-charge, and then forwarded to those of us who have raised their hands. Of course there will be individual shipping and paypal charges on top of the quoted price. I estimate the paypal at $2 bucks and the shipping could be as low as $6.50 Priority depending on weight, if it qualifies, or $8.95 Flat Rate if it doesn't. The manufacturer is checking the individual weight for me. He's been shipping Flat Rate off Ebay, but I'm thinking it may go cheaper regular priority?? My question is... Would this be something that enough of us would be interested in to qualify for the 20 or 40 price,?? And I'd need to know with in the next couple of days. I don't want to stick my neck out and pre-order 20....that's $1200 bucks..., and it fall flat. I noticed on the Super Brace web site that they have the same part number for all 1stGen's, so I assume this brace will fit all years too.... So....please let me know and if there is enough interest we'll start a group buy...
  9. I can say that my Whistler GPS hasn't led me astray.... yet, and it seems to do great when I make an unscheduled detour. Persistant as all get out trying to get me back on track. And for what I paid for it off WOOT, I'm a happy camper. The only thing I can complain about is seeing the screen in direct sunlight.
  10. I think the touchyness comes from have a 'tackier' compound and reacting to highway imperfections more than a high mile touring tire at higher speeds. Maybe??
  11. VEEERY NICE MIKE......!!!
  12. Had the same thing happen to my first Avon. Mounted on the front it went 'weather check' in less than a 1000 miles. Avon replaced it, and the replacement started to check but not as bad after only a couple of hundred. Avon replaced the replacement and all is good. No checking in over 4000 miles. The two tires that went bad had a DOT code of 2206 and... I think???....2306. The last one is from later in the year. I think Avon had a bad batch of tires mid '06. Even after the problems I still love the ride....
  13. You ain't crazy Jonas, it makes perfect sense to me.
  14. Ed, The only reason I bid on it was because it was NOS, and was looking to put it on the '91. Glad to know that I wasn't the only one that thought it was for the whole unit.... When I looked up the price the cost was about $147 to the dealer in 2002, and figured I'd take a run at it to just below dealer cost, and would have never gone that high if I'd know that the thing was incomplete. But.... as everyone already knows I didn't know and did....
  15. The story is.... I screwed up....big time!! On Ebay I bid on what I thought was a complete NOS CLASS controller, and bid accordingly. When I received it, it turned out to be only the front face and top PC board. The auction title used the term 'controller box', but the discription mentioned 'Face'. When I looked up the part number in my price guide it had several parts priced out in the area, but the most expensive was the part up for auction. So.... thought it was for the complete unit. My bad, it wasn't, and I paid way more than I should have. Another misleading part of the auction was that the seller never took a picture of the backside of the part, just the front, so it was sort of misleading in that respect. Oh well.... live and learn...Nobody said experience was cheap....
  16. That makes more sense. I think the pic gives the wrong impression.
  17. Here's what one would look like with the Voyager Kit installed. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/639210375.html http://images.craigslist.org/01010801030701160420080411403cf662f18d011a06007ae4.jpghttp://images.craigslist.org/0102050103060116112008041130ae3c985cc16cb17200b15c.jpg
  18. Good question. Quality I'm sure is good, and the price is better, but from what I can see the Canadia adaptor is a 2 piece system, while the Rivco is one piece. I really can't see why the Canadian is 2 parts, unless it has something to do with design patents?? It would seem to me that the lower profile of the Rivco would make it easier to remove a filter from behind the chin fairing??
  19. I was hoping it was, but from the parts page Jonas posted is looks like it's just the face and board. I find it interesting that Yamaha didn't list the complete Class controller as one part number, and then brake it up into subpieces.
  20. I'm sure it is. Bob also stated to me that if you order direct from him, instead of going thru Ebay, there's a $6 savings. And....... if you live a few blocks away I'm sure you'd be able to swing on by and save on the shipping too.
  21. Can someone tell me what this part number is for?? I looked it up in the price manual, but it's not real clear as to what it actually is. Is it the entire CLASS controller, or one of the parts? 31M-W8591-M0-00
  22. In Ca. you can only do it under 15mph, and it's called lane sharing. It doesn't take much to get up to 15mph when traffic is moving. It's a gray area in the Ca MVC. There isn't a statute saying it's illegal. Scares the 'H' out of me. I've never done it and now never will.... Having a hard time getting the image of that guy spinning thru the air like a rag doll........
  23. Exactely.... I California you can split lanes up to 15mph. I was slowing down to make a right hand turn so I was going around 15mph when he split the lane on the right. Then when he past us he excellerated and i think he was looking in his right rear mirror to see if he had room to pull into the right lane. He started to pull into the lane without looking ahead, and hit the car. It was his fault. Inexperience will up and bite you, 'Specially if you think you are...... It's hard getting that picture out of my head....
  24. If you do find the manafolds are the culprit you can spray them with Plasti-Dip from Home Depot. Two of three coats and you won't be able to see the crack.... However... I think I just read some where on the board where they manafolds have a liner that will keep any crack from going all the way thru. I think...
  25. Unfortunately if you had bought it directly from the maker you could have gotten another $6 bucks off... Oh well.....
