If you want to hear a Venture ROAR....Go to youtube and type in Royal Star Venture. Listen to the Vance and Hines. It would make Harleys cringe......
-
I find it hard to believe that someone would want to trade in their Venture for something that has a Potato-Potato sound. Potatos ain't got no power....

Kick it down a gear and ride at higher RPM's. Your not going very fast. If your in 5th..too high...If noisy in 4th, go to 3rd....

Need carb and clutch help
davecb replied to Kross Kountry's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've been riding in 95-100 degree temps and my clutch doesn't slip. Your bike is fairly new. Make the dealer get it right... Jump up and down on the service counter...MAKEMDOIT !!!!!!!!!!!! -
Rubbing compound with an electric buffer will make it shine again. Just dont hold the buffer in one place too long { you will take the paint off }. Then apply a coat of good wax. It should shine like new....

oil from L vent tube, onto ABS plastic cowling?
davecb replied to bamico's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The cowlings are not made to to have the screws tightened completely. I had mine off, and when I put them back on I heard a crack!!! It was the moulding inside that the screw goes into. After glueing it back together, and reinstalling it, I noticed the rubber strip that goes almost the length of it. I just tightened the screws enough so the cowling was snug against it. It hasn't loosened any. I bet your dealer cranked down on the screws and that is the cause of your cracks. Take it back to them and have them replace it... -

Mobil 1 didn't help
davecb replied to Hummingbird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yamaha will change out the clutch basket one time. If you do not like the difference, the will put your old one back in. See your service dept.. The bike is under warranty.... -
When I lived in Maine, I had 3 steel grated bridges to ride across to get to work. One even had 3/8th inch nubbies sticking up on it. The best way to ride them is to hold the bars very loosely. Let the bike squiggle along. Keep your speed at least 25 MPH. Don't try it at 50 MPH until you have done this many times. You WILL have a dark spot on your underwear. The bike WILL go straught even though it feels like the back tire wants to pass the front. I have seen people go over these bridges dragging their feet they were so scared. You have to go at least 25 mph Any slower and you will really feel it....

I am a member, but the local chapter here does absolutely nothing. Once a month I get an e-mail saying the meeting is on thursday night. I've talked to the chapter prez about this due to the fact I work 2nd shift. I asked about having them on a saturday morning. Got no answer. The chapter here is basically 4 or 5 guys that ride together. The only good thing I have seen about ST+R is that they sell folding flag poles for $25.00 each.....

Now, if only they would start making the 650 Enfields...they were the cadillac of motorcycles in there day.. A beautiful bike...

Stuck Valve on 2007 Royal Star Venture
davecb replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
According to Consumer Reports, the difference between additives in cheap gas and expensive gas is minimal. The feds require all gas to have a certain amount of additives, The more expensive gas adds a couple drops to 5000 gallons and says theirs is better....But I will say, if a dealer had my bike for 5 weeks and did not have it fixed, they would be replacing the bike or see WW3........Shoulda had it fixed within 5 days in my book. MAKEM DOIT.......... -
The worlds weirdest person has died....Why all the hype in the news media about how great he was???

06 Venture with a BANG! and a shriek...

I had a 63..... -
I think we ought to make a " Hammer Time " list of all the dealers that either don't know what they are doing or don't care about the customers. Then we could send the list to Yamaha so they can see what dealers are not doing their job to support Yamaha....

An Interesting Oil Leak
davecb replied to RedRocket's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Get a helicoil kit and repair the stripped threads. Put the bolt back in and see what happens. I can't figure out why you have that much oil coming from the intake. I a little blowby from the valves is possible, but that is a lot. When is the last time you had the valves adjusted???
