Can the oil pan be pulled with the engine in the bike? If it can then do as recommended and pull the pan, pull a bearing cap to check for galling, pull a valve cover to check the cam, do a compression check. If you can do these things with the engine in the bike and repair the pump drive in the bike, then you do not have the hassle of an engine swap and will have minimal cost involved. Does anyone know if that pump drive can be repaired without pulling the engine?

We just had a news story last night recommending you not drive in the inside lanes because that is the lane wrong-way drivers are always in. the freeways in Milwaukee have had 21 wrong way drivers so far this year. and those are just the ones that got caught, how many realized their mistake and either turned around or took the next exit off.......

On my furnace it is a small micro switch with a square piece mounted to the lever, when the fan is blowing the wind pushes it hard enough to close the switch. Mine is really buried and was hard to get to, so I can not get a pic of it without significant disassembly.

I just had to fix my heater for Bongobobny. It was dust and crud on the sail switch not letting it close. But mine just had fan and no light at all.

If you run two switches to one relay either switch will turn on everything connected to the relay. To do what I think you want to do you will need 2 relays. Easy Cougar.......

I think I would do a compression check and pull a valve cover to have a look at the cams and IF both look good, replace the bad parts and run it.

Good to hear that things are looking up. Not all CL jobs are crooks. the big warning signs are all new employes starting at the same time and or you being the only employe. I have found some good temp jobs to supplement my income from CL. just have to be careful.

Shrinking it down and stuffing it all in a nice small box is the easy part, You already did the hard part. I wonder if you could count the vacuum pulses from one of the sensors to get a tach reading??? that way you do not have to tap into the bike electrics anywhere or need an additional input. Like if you are doing a 2nd gen where there ain't no tach. (hey they had to make a tough choice tach or cassette......) Nice job, it looks very interesting. And made for 2 cylinders.

Need Help with Max wattage of Lights
Flyinfool replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The stock headlight is 55/60 watts, my HID is 35 W for both hi and lo beam. When I have the two 55w driving lights on also the electrical system is just barely keeping up, if I had a stock headlight I don't think it would make it. I am planning to change the driving lights to two 35W HID and also have the upgrade stator and R/R to put in. I want to add a LOT more lights. You could save a lot of power by changing all of the Barons to LED bulbs. -

Around here the trees are not going through the color phase. With the drought we had this summer many trees are just turning brown and dumping the leaves. It will be a weird year for fall colors.

I just had to give a copy of this to a coworker that is a scoutmaster and drives the kids in an old beatup passenger van......... He didn't care for the ending though.....

When you say EACH shock has zero pressure?? Unless you have progressive springs in the front I thought you want some pressure in them.

Your not alone, My in-laws moved to FL because that is what retired folk are supposed to do, it only took 2 years and they moved back to northern WI where the weather is better. They called for a very cold winter with a lot of snow last year and we had one of the the warmest driest winters on record........ Messed me all up, the bike never got put to bed for the winter so none of my planned winter projects ever happened, now I have even more projects for this winter......

I'm really stumped////////
Flyinfool replied to Saddle_Bag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would start by looking for a dirty connection between the R/R and the battery and between the stator and R/R -
You are probably lucky that it was a "company" car. Had they just taken off and later got caught it would likely cost them their jobs and pensions in addition to the legal issues of hit and run. I had a similar case where some backed out of a drive and hit a vehicle in my back yard then left, parked in front of my house and went into the bar. Police had no problem issuing tickets and making arrests for hit and run, OWI, Suspended drivers license due to OWIS, and outstanding warrants. Fortunately he had insurance and they paid for every bit of damage and a loner car without any fighting.

Glad your front regained traction.... I am even paranoid of painted lines when it is dry out. Leave it to Illinois to find even more ways to take ya out........

When you do store it, make sure you use Stabil and Seafoam in the gas and that the tank is full right to the very top. You also want to run it long enough to be sure that the treated gas is in the carbs. You want as little air in the tank as possible. If you have jets that are completely blocked, there is no gas additive that will help. Seafoam can only dissolve gunk it can reach. But try the heavy Seafoam treatment to see if it will clear things up.

My Original HID bulb is now 2 years old and works as good as the day it was new. I have now installed 9 HID bulbs between my bike and other vehicles and not a single issue so far. On my truck I went with the "new" 50 watt HIDs and they are noticeably brighter than the 35 watt. The bulb is the same between the 35 and 50 watt, it is the ballast that is different. I am thinking of upgrading the headlight on the bike to 50W HID.

Had my 88 fall in the back yard on wet grass. Wife came in housee and asked why the bike was laying on its side. The side stand had driven a 4" dia pad down into the ground far enough to tip over. Since the side stand did not fold when it fell that meant that I had to lift the bike over the extended side stand, with my feet on wet grass. Yup, butt to seat and walked it right up. Pretended like I layed it down on purpose.......

Welcome aboard. I just drove thru there on my way home from the weekend. I am about 125 miles from you and I even have a Carbtune. Although I have not done a 2nd gen yet, it is pretty close to the same as a 1st gen.
