  1. I has to be double virgin.........
  2. It does not sound like a drain issue since it dead at each gas stop. It is either overcharging and killing the battery, or just not charging the battery in the first place. While it is possible, it is highly unlikely to have 3 bad batteries in one week.
  3. Start by charging the battery. The charged battery should read over 12V. Next thing to check is the voltage across the battery terminals running. It should be around 14V with the engine running at 2,000 rpm or higher. If it less than 13.5 you have a problem in the charging circuit. If it is over 14.5 you have a problem. If the voltage is good then you need to start following wires. Follow the big wires from the battery and take apart and clean every connection from the battery to the starter. Should be 4 connections on the positive side and 2 on the negative side. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.
  4. Glad you are home and able to join us. You will stay in our thoughts.
  5. A friend of mine had a wasp go up the leg of the SHORTS he was riding with, yes he was also riding commando. He was a passenger so it took a while to get the driver to stop. Once stopped he dropped trou right there and started beating himself to make it stop. He was stung 17 times on various male parts that don't want to be stung. That was 30 years ago and we still him about it. Had it been more modern, someone would have had a camera phone. I had a bug hit my arm, a moment later I felt something crawling up my arm over my shoulder and started down my back by the time I got stopped. I got a lot of strange looks as I came to a screeching stop and ripped off my shirt, with my full face helmet still on. I saw the bug fly away but could not tell what it was, but it was big.
  6. Somehow I dont think my 1st gen would like those roads. But it does look like fun. Enjoy.
  7. Go ahead and use penetrating oil. Just clean the threads with brake cleaner prior to reassembly. I also see no problem with using an impact for removal only. If using heat to try to loosen loctite, it only takes about 360°F (180°C) to break down blue loctite, or about 550°F (260°C) to break red loctite, disassemble while hot. If red loctite was used then see if you can get your longest breaker bar to conform to the head of the person that put it in there. Do not over heat, at 650°F (343°C) you are starting to risk changing the temper and strength of the forks.
  8. Mommy..............
  9. It is most effective to just happen to be cleaning a shotgun in the living room while she is being picked up for her first unchaperoned date..........
  10. Stop breaking stuff and you wont need special wrenches........
  11. On which bike?
  12. at least its not taller than the garage door anymore......
  13. I'm not sure it it is feasible on the 2nd gens but on my 1st gen I mounted BOTH sets of air horns to the rear crash bars where they cross the front of the side bags. I put one on each side.
  14. It worked. Once I spelled the password correfctly. Thanks.
  15. Well if Seafoam didn't fix it, then you will need the heavy guns. Put puter in a big bag, fill it with uncooked rice, seal it up for a month. After the month, make a big batch of Spanish rice....... If that don't work I can bring my .50 cal......... That's sure to have some impact.
  16. Don, Is it possible to start a private chat room where a group could discuss things like the planing for events? I know you can have a private chat with one other person, I am looking for a private chat with more than one person at a time.

  22. If you want to tackle this yourself, and there is another working computer in the house, go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ It is a computer geek site that is as friendly and with a knowledge base comparable to here. Someone will hold your hand thru the process. But you will need another working computer and a thumb drive and maybe a cd burner.
  23. That is why they invented backups..... If it is really some form of malware that has infected your puter it should be saveable. If your problem is a hardware failure then it is toast. Either way it may be possible to save some or all of your pics.
  24. Just read in another thread, he is patched up and back on the road. thanks to Snaggletooth and SaddleBum being up in the middle of the night.
  25. Just to clarify. Is this the headlight that is not working or the front and rear running lights that are not working? If it is the headlight then it could be the the start switch, if it is the running lights then don't mess with the start switch. If you determine that the fuse holder is bad, get an inline fuse holder from a Radio Shack or any auto parts store to make a safe temporary repair till you get home and then change out the whole fuse panel.
