  1. and the last few I have....
  2. Another great Memorial weekend in the books. I trust everyone is having a safe ride home today. It was great to see old friends and meet the new ones this year. We had a nice rides on both Saturday and Sunday even if it was a bit warm. And as usual, we managed to eat well. I didn't take a lot of photos myself but others did so please post a few here. Below are a few that I shot. Thanks to all who came and we hope to do it again next year. Dennis
  3. Found this photo on the web. Anyone we know?
  4. I would take US25 through the Cumberland Gap Tunnel and rejoin with I75 at Corbin. Or, go further west and take US 27 through Oneida to Somerset and then 80 to 461 to I75. I've been both ways and they work. Dennis
  5. I agree with the heated jacket. It's warmer and much more comfortable than layering t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets. I just replace the liner in my textile Fieldshear or Tourmaster jacket with the heated liner and am good to go. The Gerbings jacket liner doesn't add much more bulk that the regular jacket liner. I tried multiple sets of Frogg Toggs and they just didn't hold up for me. I now have a Tourmaster rainsuit. I don't care for leather chaps. So I bought a pair of Colorado Chaps http://www.coloradochaps.com/ . They are custom made to fit you. Very warm and easy to put on and the tailor provides great service. Dennis
  6. You can use the harley planner and google maps also lets you save routes and send links to them to friends. Dennis
  7. Make sure you have wind socks on your mics. The noise is just the mics picking up ambient noise. It does the same thing on the Goldwing. Dennis
  8. Thanks for the feedback. I've started discussions with a sales rep at their MB store. Dennis
  9. Searching Autotrader I've found a car I'm interested in at International Auto Group in Milwaukee. Anyone know if they are a reputable dealer? I would like to know a bit about them before I drive 500 miles to pick up a car. Thanks, Dennis
  10. The second one pictured from Harbor Frieght that has a tach got very poor reviews for that function on the HF site. I have a couple of digital meters but most of the time I still pick up my cheap $10 analog meter to check for voltage and continuity when I am not real concerned about actual reading and only need to see the needle deflect. Dennis
  11. Check out this thread.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49596&highlight=mustang+seat&page=2 I put a Mustang seat on my last Venture and I liked it. My wife preferred the original seat. I sold it to someone on the board but I don't recall the name. I would buy one again. Dennis
  12. Nope, wasn't going to bring that up Kevin, nope, not me.. Was funny though.. Dennis
  13. I believe the 550 only connects with the phone for Bluetooth calls. I may be wrong because I've never tried anything else but I don't recall seeing anything in the manual about linking to a headset. Dennis
  14. Buddy, I bought one of your cables a few years ago and that is the one thing I miss most when I switched to the Goldwing. Your cable and the bluetooth integration on the Venture was perfect. I can't find anything that works well on the GW. If I'm accelerating the other party can't hear me at all. Your cable on the Venture was perfect all the time. Good luck with the components. Dennis
  15. I may have one. I'll try to remember to check tomorrow. If I forget, drop me a note. Dennis
  16. Yes, to all of the questions. When I had my Unigo and it was fully loaded (about 150 lbs total weight) it took a bit more effort to get it off the side stand. You also had to be very careful that you come to a stop with everthing straightened up or you were going over. I know from a rather embarassing moment in Zion Nat'l park. The single wheel trailer tracks very well behind the bike's track and you rarely noticed it on straight roads and gentle sweeping curves. But if you get into a twisty mountain road and have to transition quickly from side to side the extra weght is definitely felt then and you transition time is a bit slower. For the reasons mentioned, I sold the unigo and switched to a Bushtec trailer. Dennis
  17. Seems like it is time to get your license and your own bike. I bet that would get him moving. Dennis
  18. Welcome to the site! Since you are new to riding I would suggest as soon as you pick it up you find the nearest large church parking lot (assuming it is not Sunday) and practice starts and stops, slow speed turns as if you were turning from an intersection and general operation of the bike. I would even recommend that you have an experienced friend ride it to a lot for you. It's scary to immediately jump into traffic with a bike of this size and no experience. Good luck and enjoy the ride. Dennis Oopps! Looks like I was a day late with my advice....
  19. Lot's of GW information on www.GL1800riders.com but it sure not as friendly of a place to visit as here. Although there are quite a few wing riders here also. Dennis
  20. No, I don't feel that way at all. We've been friends for a long time, even before becoming my manager. He wasn't snooping around. He just found it interesting that Facebook was telling him what his friends were reading. I'm glad he told me. Dennis
  21. I've never really been a fan of Facebook because I feel it is just too intrusive into our lives. I have an account with a few friends that I don't really use or post on. I look at it once every couple of weeks and see updates such as info on an aquaitances kid's last bowel movement or similar dribble. Here is something I discoverd today and you facebook users may already be aware of it. I was having lunch with coworkers which included my manager which is nothing unusual since we do that most days and we're all friends. Today my manager is looking at his phone and he says "I see you read a couple of articles last night". I questioned him about that and apparently Facebook had shared with him what I read off of Yahoo last night. He quoted me 4 topics which were correct, I had read them. Now I find this a real invasion of privacy. Since he saw that I have to assume all of my other "friends" saw it too. Now what I read wasn't anything significant, just Yahoo headlines. However, had I been searching for a new job or reading how to deal with managers, etc. That could have been awkward. If I read something of interest and feel it is worthy I'll mention it to my friends. I don't need Facebook automating that for me. So tonight I have gone into Yahoo and Facebook and turned on or off any security setting I could find that shares any information about my online activity. And if I find that doesn't fix it I'll delete my Facebook account. Dennis
  22. Wind protection, that is the main thing I miss from my RSV. Wind protection on the Goldwing is not near as good. Dennis
  23. I just did a quick search on Travelocity for flights between Indianapolis and Eugene and looked for flights with only two legs. Dennis
  24. If you are in IN you can fly with just one stop out of Indanapolis to Eugene. You can leave by 9:00 AM and arrive by 1:00 PM or so. Unless you are flying direct by private jet I doubt you can get there any quicker. I wish you and your brother well. Dennis
