1. There are a couple of black ones on Ebay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUSHTEC-TURBO-PULL-BEHIND-MOTORCYCLE-TRAILER-/141110887118?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20dadd42ce&item=141110887118&pt=Motors_Trailers http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUSH-TEC-PULL-BEHIND-TOURING-TRAILER-FOR-MOTORCYCLE-/151160307938?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2331db40e2&item=151160307938&pt=Motors_Trailers You also might post a note on some of the Goldwing sites. I love my Bushtec. Dennis
2. While on Hutchison Island near Jensen Beach today my wife wanted to go in some gift shop (she doesn't pass many of those). I enjoyed that stop because I found a Midnight Venture outside. So rather than sit outside as I normally do I ventured in and found the rider, Capt-D. It was great to meet Derek and his wife. We talked about bikes for a while as my wife shopped. It's always great to meet a fellow member when away from home. Ride safe Capt-D. Dennis
3. I had a bundled plan with Time-Warner. They recently bought out our cable system. I thought it was too expensive so I started looking for ways to reduce the bill. I switched my phone service to Basic Talk from Walmart. $9.99 an month. Before switching I checked with TWC to determine how much my bill would go down and it was about $30. So I ported my number over. Then things went downhill from there. They continued to bill me phone service for two months after it ported over. I finally got through to someone that took care of dropping the phone and credited my money back. Then a couple of days later all service went out. The cancelled all of my service. Didn't find that out until the repair guy couldn't get to work when he came out. Now why send a technician out for someone without service? In addition they hit my credit card for $1400 because I didn't return the DVRs. Finally got it all straightened out and my bill went down $29/month. I threatened to go to DSL and a satellite service but my neighbors convinced me that I would just be trading one set of problems for another. Basic Talk is great, although the only people that call me on it are telemarketers. Dennis
4. Congratulation on the new pool. I would highly recommend that you use salt water with a salt water chlorine generator instead of chlorine tablets for water sanitizing. We switched to saltwater 3 years ago and it is much easier and cheaper to maintain. Dennis
5. I went with a larger windshield F4 I believe and added the baker wings under the mirrors. Seems to help. Dennis
6. The led strip is like a thick piece of tape. You just peel off the backing and press it into place. It will form around corners no sharper than about 1/4 inch radius. Dennis
7. Miles, did you make it home? How much damage to the bike after the fall? Hope you are warm and safe. Dennis
8. I installed some side emitting LEDs to the headlight bezels on the wing. These are a cheap ($12) set of lights that I picked up on eBay. They look good up close but from a distance the headlights overpower them.
9. Jakester sounds like you've been down this road before. I've got nothing more to add. Dennis
10. I'm still going through old photos and updating my web site. I've place some photos online that show how I installed a temperature gauge on my '07 Venture using tips I got from here. They can be seen at http://www.traynorphoto.com/6.html Dennis
11. I guess that is a good question. We mainly used the cooler for drinks so I doubt there is any problem there since they are in sealed containers. If I were to carry any other foods that need to be kept cool I would probably have it in a zip lock type bag which would protect it. I would say it is a low risk, if at all. Dennis
12. Here is a thread with the pictures of one that I had a friend make for me. It fits the Goldwing as well. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50499 Dennis
13. Pete, the camera is a cheap Kodak HD video camera similar to the FLIP cameras that were popular a couple of years ago. It is waterproof and can shoot submerged. I shot this underwater footage with it: [ame] [/ame] On the bike I tried to use it with limited success to capture the ride over Chief Joseph Highway, Beartooth Pass and the Going-to-the-Sun road. Being mounted on the handlebars there was just too much vibration. I may try to post a short video to the web site. Dennis
14. I've just finished an update to the site to include photos from a couple of the VR.org Central KY Memorial weekend rides and a Smokies gathering of a few members in 2010. Dennis
15. The photos were taken by multiple cameras because many of the images were shot by my riding companions. All of my images were shot on Canon cameras. Both point-and-shoot and SLR cameras. Dennis
16. Over the years I have shared a number of links to some of our travel photography but never really updated my web site to let people navigate through the photos. Since I'm really not doing professional photography anymore I decided to turn the web site into a photo site to document our travels. So far I've organized most of the big trips on the site. I have many more weekend trips to add and I will as time permits. We've covered a good bit of the western part of the country in these trips so if you're interested seeing places like Colorado, South Dakota, New Mexico, Northern California, Oregon and more have a look. I'll add more later. http://www.traynorphoto.com Dennis
17. Dang Luke, I thought I was doing pretty good. Your stuff makes my little bowl look like a wheel chock! Thanks for sharing. I definitely need some new turning tools. I'm just using the 30 year old tools my father-in-law had. Dennis
18. I went down and sanded on the bowl some more. I varied the speed and the grit of the sandpaper. I believe it is a grain issue. I've got it about 98% right. I'm done with the sanding. Now I'm going to but a few coats of oil on it, cut it off and finish the bottom a bit and call it good. I may be more careful with the wood I pick next time. Also, how can a quart size bowl generate 20 gallons of chips and shavings? Dennis
19. I believe the wood is cherry. Dennis
20. Thanks for the replies. I never thought that it could be a wood issue. I'll try some sealer. Dennis
21. My father in law recently gave me his 30 year old Shopsmith. You know, the multi tool machine they used to demo in the malls. It seems to be in pretty good shape and hasn't been used much over the last 10 years or so. Tonight I tried my had at turning a bowl. I hadn't done any wood turning since high school shop class. I got it roughed out and started sanding it. There is a section on the inside and out that I can not get to smooth out. I've tried a rasp, coarse sandpaper, one of those 3M foam sanding blocks, medium grit paper and there is always a rough section. I'm beginning to think the shaft has a bit of wobble to it that is preventing a good sand job. Any ideas? Attached is a photo of the bowl in progress. Dennis
22. Oh I am certainly not lost without it. But when I am trying to cover 500 to 600 mile days I welcome the cruise button to help relax my cramped hand. My hand rarely leaves the grip but it is nice to relax my grip a bit. Dennis
23. Congratulations on the new bike Miles. I was at the dealer today for some warranty work on my Wing and I sat on one in the showroom. It does feel different. Even on the center stand it felt lower. That windshield would have to go as you stated. With all of the riding you do, how can you get by with no cruise control? That would be a deal breaker for me. I look forward to hear of your experiences with the new bike. Dennis
24. HHmmmm, the specs state 24" wide. The HF site list theirs at 32" wide. You may be on to something there Eck. Dennis
25. Thanks, I was looking for a lift like that searched. I knew I had seen one with a removable tail section. Thanks for giving me the link. Hopefully I won't need it. Dennis
