  1. Where are you getting your voltage reading from? Right off the battery or from the cig lighter connection in the fairing? You should be getting the reading straight off the battery.
  2. You can run it with the converter, it's not going to decrease the power. Some folks will bust out the catalyst with a metal rod, but it's not necessary. To mount them, you will need a set of brackets. You can either fabricate them yourself, or buy them from the classifieds section for $40. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1729/cat/7
  3. Harley has definitely improved over the years. The new Ultras are supposed to handle good. As far as gas mileage, the Harley will smoke the Venture gas mileage wise, that slow revving V-twin makes all it's power on the low end. A co-worker has an 07 or 08 model and he let me ride it. There's just not enough room for me on one. I was seriously cramped up on it. If it fits ya, then good on ya!! The aftermarket support for HD is awesome.
  4. Doesn't make any sense, does it? The dealerships are not owned by the GM/Chysler. In fact, they receive a franchise fee from the dealers to use their name so they are actually losing revenue.... But then again, these auto makers are ran by the government now and government has never had to compete against anybody to "sell" their services. Just wait until they put extreme tariffs on "foreign" manufacturers to price them above the "domestic" ones, because it'll be good for the country.
  5. Dont forget about the discount we get through the motorcycle superstore. Save ya 10% and most likely, free shipping.
  6. Front tires have less tread, the rubber is believed to be softer and usually have a lower weight rating. The only pro is that you'll be able to take the hub out of the wheel more often to lube it because you'll be changing tires more often.
  7. slight hunting, most likely meant that the tire felt loose and squiggly, even in a straight line. I was wondering about those Chinese tires and if they were any good. Guess that answered my question.
  8. I replaced my friction discs, but my clutch had been slipping for about year before I was tired of it.
  9. I think you need another toolbar to fix it.
  10. A buddy of mine had a tire mounted up on his V-Rod for only $10. I just called them up and confirmed that they will mount motorcycle tires for $10 if I take the wheel off. This is an automotive shop and you have to take the wheel off for them, they do not work on motorcycles. I have no affiliation with these folks, just trying to help those of us here in the Panhandle who's tired of getting ripped off for tire mounting services. 11. What do you think you'd need for em? I live in Amarillo.
  12. If they're interchangable, then she should be able to give the part # to her local dealer and they might be able to get them for her at a better price then paying for shipping from the States. STR-4NK57-40-00 It's a factory add-on.
  13. No biggie, If needed, I'll buy em and ship em.
  14. I set a PM to a member who owns a Royal Star and a Venture asking him to check to see if the mounts are the same.
  15. Billet Passenger Floorboard Mounts [sTR4NK574000] These brackets are specifically designed to allow passenger floorboard installation onto all Royal Star models originally equipped with foot pegs. All hardware is included for easy installation. Fits '96-'00 Royal Star Standard. STR-4NK57-40-00 msrp: $169.95
  16. I wonder if these would work, they might move the floorboards a bit, but if they bolt up, it'd be cheap enough. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Passenger-Floor-Board-Mounts_W0QQitemZ270384130490QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3ef42669ba&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1205|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  17. Near the pond? Are we trying for the first Maintenance Day fatality?
  18. If you replace yours, I'd be interested in the old one, but the shipping from Canada would be killer.
  19. The adjuster's job and the claim person's job is to save the company as much as possible. If they can get you to agree to a lower total by dicking you around until you get so pissed off you agree to their lower total to get it over with, guess what they're going to do... BTW, I have Progressive Insurance.
  20. I run 78% nitrogen in my tires. It seems to be a good ratio for these bikes.
  21. Nope, he's in a truck.
  22. I'd run em at 41psi. You set the pressure while the tires are cold and only check them when they are cold. Don't worry about the pressure when they're hot.

  24. I carry a pair of vice grips when I travel because of those damn spring loaded vapor locks. Friggin treehuggers. I pull back the spring loaded cover and clamp the vice grips on the nozzle so it will pump the fuel and I can watch the level in the tank.
