It just gives me a tingle up the leg!
sarges46 replied to LewTheHighVenturer's topic in Watering Hole
A couple things with the air suspension. No, you cannot adjust while riding...that is a safety factor. You must stop and set the key to acc. mod. Another thing is dont forget to reset the damper if riding two up. That is a little black dial on the lower left side by the foot rest. It is normal to have the setting at 2 for single and 3-4 for two up depending how much stiffness you want. Nice bike btw..I just sold my 89 blue this spring. It was a great bike. -
I just got off the phone with Jo and she let me know about signing on. That is great and now I can save her some roaming fees on her cell phone! We still dont know much about the bike and what or when or if we can pick it up. Progress is good....I wish I could be there...dang. Jo....tell Bob that Courtney is waiting for him to get better so she can give him a big hug. She is our daughter and has always looked forward to seeing him when he passed through on is trips to Winnipeg and returning home. She peppers us with questions about how he is doing...we hold nothing back from our kids as we believe in honesty. He has a big spot in her heart.

Can the RSV electronic odometer be changed to metric?
sarges46 replied to rhighet's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
You would have to change the whole thing. Why do need to do this? Being nosy is all. I have a US bike and there are no issues.- 6 replies

Well, we made it back home. It was with heavy hearts we had to leave our friend in the hospital and if not for kids school and work we could have stayed longer. We including Lowell...(wildhair) stopped in to see Bob on our way back. He is slowly getting better. They have ruled out any brain damage. His eye they don't know about until he fully awakes and can tell them whats what. He is still being intubated but they are slowly weaning him from that. They are cleaning (suctioning) blood from his lung and have him drugged up pretty good because apparently this is painful. He was not awake but did scrunch up his forehead when I talked with him and his daughter says he responds to demands to move his feet...thats a good thing. The biggest concern is his lungs (lung). He could develope phneumonia and that wouldnt be good. The rest of him will recovery slowly. His wife will be going down Wednesday. His work got into his house and found her passport and couriered it to her so she could cross the border. This is good as he will have his wife and daughter with him. We dont know when they will move him back north but that will depend on whether or not he is fit to fly and that may take a few days at least. We couldnt get his bike yet. We may know more tomorrow once his insurance tells us if it can be released or not. This is in the works from members in his neighborhood and Winnipeg. I will be report more if folks are interested. One thing for certain....this site is his passion and that went right along with his love for riding his bike. His daughter says all he does is talk about the site and the great people on it. We share that sentiment. Thanks for the bell Freebird it was left with Bob along with a card that was signed by everyone at PIP. The next person that sees Lowell (wildhair)...give that big southern gentlemand a big hug...he needs it. I dont need to say why.

OK... how do I begin. Lets get straight to it. Yesterday at around 4pm just east of Devils Lake, Big Bob had a serious crash. He left the bike at around 62 miles per hour. He was taken to Devils Lake hospital and then life flighted to GrandForks as Devils Lake didnt have the type of care he needed. He is alive and unless there is a serious change he will stay that way. His injuries consist of this head injury, plus several stitches on his forehead...they did a nice job doing that. eye injury...they are quit worried about him loosing the right eye. 6 broken ribs and possible lung injury which they are very concerned about. broken wrist which has had surgery and will likely need more. some but not much road rash from the sleeve of his leather jacket being pushed up his arm. broken or fractured disc...they dont seem too worried about this as he was moving his legs after the crash. Details about the crash. He had fallen back and had told us he was going to. Then the last bike Pete, reported that he couldnt see him anymore even on the long straights. We stopped and Marilyn turned around and went to see what was up. While she was gone a soldier stopped and asked us if we were riding with another gentleman with a white bike. Yes....well he crashed and was back near the rest stop. We turned our bikes around and headed there....Marilyn in the mean time was racing back to us trying to call us on the cb to tell us the news. She had arrived just as they were working on him. She was almost sick. Another lady raced across the highway and told her he was alive and was going to Devils Lake hospital. We arrived on scene to find his bike and trailer totally demolished in the center median. The persons following him said he was doing 62 miles per hour (8 mph below the speed limit) when his trailer started to go and it was almost like a huge gust of wind just threw him into a high speed wobble. He crashed hard on his right side. One of the folks following was an off duty paramedic. The police were almost literally on the scene as they were writing a ticket on the other side of the highway about a half mile down. Response time was very quick. By the time we arrived he was already on his way to the hospital. Bob was lucky in some ways....he was fully geared up...jacket helmet, chaps, steel toe boots....the gear saved his life the police said. We went to the hospital and he was in a great deal of pain, but managed to say that he hurt like hell. We went to GrandForks last night and stayed the night there and went to see him today. He looked better but is intubated due to the lungs, and in a semi- drug induced coma to help with pain and because he was becoming combative...he hated the tube. We left there around 4 ish and are now at Garys. His daughter is with him. She has all his personal belongings. We had cleaned out everything he had from his bike and loaded up our bikes to take for him. A prayer would be nice. He is a tough man and should be ok in the long run. The gang here was going to run to GrandForks but when we informed them he was in a coma they decided not to. We will update this thread Monday night when we get home. We are stopping to see him on our way back. He is covered with travel insurance thank goodness. Take care everyone and thanks for listening.

Could you not just "throw" it into the back of the moving truck? Or rent a uhaul to tow it behind the truck.

Wing things usually has headsets with cords for a very reasonable price...around 60 bucks. Five pin is what you are after. Sierra Electronics as a bigger variety but cost more. If you are from Canada watch shipping (UPS,Fedex...brokerage fees). Dont buy expensive as the sound quality is not much better. We have just bought Edsets for Marilyns vstar. Expensive but a quality item and better sound and great to deal with.

Air suspension pressure
sarges46 replied to magnum-pei's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
What ever you do dont ship anything to you via UPS or Fedex! You will pay brokerage fees that are killer high if you ship across the border with these folks. Use USPS-United States Postal Service. On another note...there are two pumps or at least I have two pumps....one is for the front and resembles a large shringe type deal and measures very low pressures and the other one is for the rear and measures much higher pressures. Both have the bleed and dont lose any air when taken off the nipples. -
Cant help ya....but nice pics..pretty rough camping at the hydro line. I hope you find what ya need. Have you checked ebay....there was a 07/08 being parted out. Or a rad shop might be able to fix the rad for you?

What Gary says....or find a border service across the line and ship em there. Then drive down and pick them up. Here we have a couple of places that have made a business of warehousing stuff for Canadians that purchase from the US. It costs me gas and 5 bucks per parcel. You will pay pst and gst when you declare them at customs. Buying from the US pretty much negates any warranty though so keep that in mind. It's much tougher to get a tire replaced on warranty should you need to.

Can someone please explain the differences?
sarges46 replied to pilothawk's topic in General Tech Talk
Just a thought on ebay tires....careful....they could be old. I like deals as well...but tires....be careful. If you think tires are expensive....get a set up here from the dealers. Close to double the cost and thats no fib! -
Hoping for the best for you guys and glad that ypu are healing. I have a question regarding the insurance. We have government vehicle insurance so this might not be the same. But, my house and life etc have a clause in there that carries the insured for 30 days over the end date. I was wondering if yours might be the same. I know medical is terribly expensive for our friends south so it might worth checking out.
